CENTRE HALL - Emma Mae Decker, 82, of Centre Hall, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte. Born Sept. 20, 1918, in Tusseyville, she was the daughter of the late Franklin P. and Savilla L. (Crater) Floray. Her husband, Ray F. Decker, whom she married Dec. 23, 1939 in Mifflinburg, died Jan. 5, 1983. Surviving are: sons, Harold D. Decker, Reedsville, Donald R. Decker and Alan L. Decker, both of Centre Hall; and a sister, Edith L. Leiser of Eagle Valley Personal Care Home, Milesburg, formerly of Spring Mills. She was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. She was a homemaker and for many years took care of the bookkeeping for her husband's business. She attended Calvary Bible Church on the Centre Hall Mountain and enjoyed church services and attending monthly Bible Conferences. She especially enjoyed the Decker family reunion, antiques, dolls, flowers, birds, and reading. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Calvary Bible Church, 600 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, with the Rev. Allan Glass officiating. Entombment will be at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Calvary Bible Church, 600 N. BELLEVILLE - Mussettia T. Deiss, 89, of Valley View Terrace, Belleville, formerly of Lewistown, died at 9:28 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital. Born July 27, 1911, in Milroy, she was the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Margaret M. (Martz) Taylor. She is survived by a son, Eugene T. Deiss, 8840 Oak Circle, Tampa, Fla. and two grandsons. She graduated from Milroy High School and attended Central Pennsylvania Business School, Harrisburg. She owned and operated Mussettia's in Lewistown from 1954 until retiring in 1980. She was a member of West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, Belleville, where she had served as a deacon. She also served as a trustee at Lewistown Presbyterian Church, served on the advisory board of Juniata Valley Bank, Lewistown Branch, the Lewistown AAA Board of Directors, served as president of the Valley View Villagers, and was a life member and past president of Soroptimist International of Lewistown. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Valley View Haven Chapel, Belleville, with the Rev. Samuel G. Strohm and the Rev. Galen Sharp officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to: Valley View Haven, 4702 E. Main St., Belleville, PA 17004. The Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville, is in charge of arrangements.
LEWISTOWN - Thomas E. DeArment, 64, of 100 N. Grand St., Lewistown, died at 9:10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at his residence. Born Aug. 5, 1936, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Dorothy G. (DeArment) Condol. He is survived by a sister, Darlene Shoenfelt, Magnolia, Ohio and several aunts, nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Raymond Hill officiating. Interment will be in the Germany Valley Cemetery, Shirleysburg. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.
LEWISTOWN - Angela Dee DeRita, 31, of 240 Sand Rock Road, Lewistown, died at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Hershey Medical Center. Born Oct. 6, 1968, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of Richard W. and Corinne L. (Orbin) DeRita of 640 S. Crawford St., Hummelstown. She is survived by her fiance, Daniel S. Hartley of 240 Sand Rock Road, Lewistown. Also surviving are: her fiance's son, Zachary Hartley, at home; brother and sister, Richard W. DeRita Jr. and Mrs. Robert (Carla) Dill, both of Hummelstown; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jarrold Orbin of Belleville. She was a graduate of Lock Haven State University, where she received a bachelor of science degree and of Temple University, where she received a master of science in social work. She did social work with the Harrisburg School District, Capital Area Intermediate Unit. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown and the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority at Lock Haven. Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown, with Rev. Thomas C. Marickovic officiating. Interment was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Mifflin County Library-children's department, 123 N. Wayne St., Lewistown, PA 17044. The Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville, was in charge of arrangements.
THOMPSONTOWN - Bonnie Lee Detra, 46, of Thompsontown RR2 (Locust Run), died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at Reeds Gap, Juniata County. Born April 12, 1954, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of Mary L. (Carruthers) Detra of Thompsontown RR2 and the late William B. "Sonny" Detra. She is survived by a daughter, Angie Walters, Thompsontown RR2; brothers and sister, W. Brad Detra and John W. Detra, both of Thompsontown RR2, and Shirley A. Zeiders, Mifflintown RR3. She was the proprietor of The Bargain Barn, Mifflintown. She was a member of Crawford-Brubaker Post 5863 VFW, Mifflintown and the Mifflintown American Legion Post 298. She attended Locust Run United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Barbara Inch officiating. There will be no public viewing.
MILL CREEK - Emanuel J. Detweiler, 34, of Mill Creek HCR61 Box 624, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Cancer Ward Hospital, Juarez, Mexico. Born Oct. 16, 1966, in Allensville, he was a son of Annie M. (Peachey) and Sam Y. Detweiler Jr. of Allensville. His wife, Elsie B. (Swarey) Detweiler, survives. Also surviving are: children, Rhoda M. Detweiler, Anna N. Detweiler, Sarah E. Detweiler, Melvin L. Detweiler, Emanuel J. Detweiler Jr. and Rebecca I. Detweiler, all at home; brothers and sisters, Uri Detweiler, Lydia Detweiler and Jacob Detweiler, all of Allensville, Sammie Detweiler of Lancaster, and Elizabeth Peachey of Mill Creek. He was owner and operator of Blue Rock Lumber, Mill Creek. He was a member of the Old Order Amish. His funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Reuben Detweiler residence, Mill Creek, with Kore Yoder and Shem Swarey officiating. Interment will be in Allensville Amish Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call Monday evening at the Reuben Detweiler residence. Bohn Funeral Home, Reedville, is in charge of arrangements.
CARLISLE - John R. Detwiler, 55, of 1932 Spring Road, Carlisle, formerly of Lewistown, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at Carlisle Hospital. Born Nov. 12, 1944, in Carlisle, he was the son of Helen (Neil) Gibble of Shippensburg and the late Roy Detwiler. His wife of 34 years, Marion R. "Becky" (Crosson) Detwiler of Carlisle, survives. Also surviving are: children, Walter Hockley, Charles A. Winn, and Debra Lee Tolan, all of Carlisle; a brother, Harvey Detwiler, Shippensburg; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Baymiller. He was employed by Cumberland Construction Co., Carlisle and attended the First Church of the Brethren, Carlisle. He was a member of the Eagles 1299, the White Circle Club and the American Legion Post 101, all of Carlisle; a member of the American Legion Post 90 and the VFW Post 7011, both of Lewistown; and a life member of the Brooklyn Hose Co. and the City, Hook and Ladder Fire Co. Lewistown. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Edward L. Poling officiating. Interment will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Township. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home. LEWISTOWN - Esther L. DeVerter, 91, a resident of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown, formerly of 110 N. Brown St., Lewistown, died at 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at the nursing home. Born Dec. 13, 1908, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Edward F. and Helen (Ziegler) Moore. Her husband, Walter A. DeVerter, died Sept. 26, 1980. Surviving are: children, Helen Kline, Doylestown, Mrs. Thomas (Betty) Pasternack, Burr Oak, Mich., Walter F. DeVerter, Enola, and Mrs. Bernard (Barbara) Bratton, 2 King Drive, Lewistown; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia McCall. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Lewistown Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Lewistown Music Study Club, and the Republican Women. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Bruce A. Hinderliter and Pastor Danny Neff officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Lewistown Presbyterian Church, Third and Brown Street, Lewistown, PA 17044.
