DUBLIN, VA - Ralph Edward Webb, 64, of 225 Flanagan Ave., Dublin, VA, died Friday, April 27, 2001 at his residence. Born Jan. 18, 1937 in Allisonia, VA, he was a son of the late Hobie and Josie (Landreth) Webb. His wife Alma (Henley) Webb preceded him in death. Surviving are: sons, Gary Webb and Randy Webb, both of Dublin, VA; a sister and two brothers, Vicie Bryant, Richmond, VA, Ernest Webb, Richmond, VA and David Webb, Lewistown; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 815 Randolph Ave., Pulaski, VA, with Dr. C.R. Conner and the Rev. Margaret Mitchell officiating. Interment will be in Hufford Cemetery, Pulaski County, VA. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the NRV Hospice, 707 Randolph St., Suite 251, Radford, VA 24141. The family will be meeting at the residence of his son Gary Webb 117 Sixth St., Dublin, VA.
MILROY - W. Chester Weiand, 85, of 1379 Siglerville Pike, Milroy, died at 6:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2001 at Lewistown Hospital. Born July 19, 1915 in Alfarata, he was a son of the late William J. and Ida A. (Treaster) Weiand. His wife Josephine F. (Goss) Weiand preceded him in death on Dec. 1, 1999. Surviving are: children, Leroy J. Weiand and Margaret E. Bowers, both of Milroy, and Mary A. Tate, Newport, four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Siglerville. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with Pastor Rosalie N. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Siglerville. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
PORT ROYAL - Melvin Neal "Muggs" Weibley, 81, of 423 Tuscarora St., Port Royal, formerly of Stoney Point, Loysville, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at his home. Born Nov. 11, 1919, in Stoney Point, Loysville, he was the son of the late Shelburn H. Weibley and Margaret (Scott) Weibley Bressler. Surviving are: children, Mrs. William (Laura) Ainsworth, Millerstown RR1 and Mrs. Larry (Christina) Campbell, Duboistown; stepchildren, Pamela Nottingham, Williamsport, Jeannette Hammons, Carlisle, and Charles Hammons, Millerstown RR1; a sister, Mary E. Laughlin, Hematite, Mo.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He was a U S Army veteran of World War II. He was retired from L. B. Smith Inc., Camp Hill, as a diesel and heavy equipment mechanic. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with Rev. Robert J. Meyer officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.
LEWISTOWN - Belle L. Lane Weikel, 87, of Creek Drive, Lewistown, died at 5:25 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Aug. 18, 1913, in Cassville, she was the daughter of the late Clem and Ida Bowman. Her first husband, Harvey A. Lane, died May 31, 1953 and her second husband, Foster Weikel, died Nov. 8, 1987. Surviving are: children, Mrs. William (Shirley) Hamman and Harvey D. Lane, both of McVeytown and Carol Palm, McConnellstown; sisters and brothers, Martha Witters, Philipsburg, Sara Bousum, Mapleton, Mrs. William (Mary) States, McConnellstown, James Bowman, Shirleysburg and Alex Bowman, Easton; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ella O'Donnell; an infant son, Terry Lane; two brothers, Fred Bowman and Milton Bowman; a grandson, Randy Wertz; and a granddaughter, Tina Kearns. She was a homemaker. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown, with the Rev. Donald E. Peters Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Cornelius Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, 67 Pine Glen Road, Lewistown, PA 17044.
NEWVILLE - Miriam E. Weiler, 86, of Green Ridge Retirement Center, Newville, and formerly of Middle Road, Lewistown, died at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at the retirement center. Born Jan. 30, 1915, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Frederick F. and Anna E. (Conley) Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank D. Weiler, on Aug. 3, 1998. Surviving are: a son, David F. Weiler, Mechanicsburg; a sister, Isabelle Clelan, Lewistown; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister. She was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served in World War II, and was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewistown. Her funeral service is at 11 a.m. Friday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald A. Krum officiating. Interment will be at the Belleville Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
LEWISTOWN - Margaret M. Weimer, 83, of Beverly-Healthcare William Penn, formerly of 111 Church St., Burnham, died at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at the nursing home. Born Sept. 3, 1917, in Burnham, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Paraska (Shurbick) Slavish. Her husband, Robert A. Weimer, died July 28, 1972. Surviving are: children, Robert A. Weimer, Fairfield, CA, Mrs. David (Patricia) Walker, 475 Summit Drive, Lewistown and Mrs. James (Margaret) "Peggy" Brought, 213 Second Ave., Burnham; brothers and sisters, Frank Slavish, Stine Drive, Lewistown, Thomas Slavish, Myrtle Beach, SC, Helen Steele and Anne Slavish, both of 208 Eighth Ave., Burnham and Mrs. John (Betty) Brown, Puallap, WA; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter and three brothers. Early in life she worked for the American Viscose Corp., then as a hairdresser for 15 years at Anne's Beauty Shop, Burnham, and later as a sales person at Danks for 18 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic minister and member of St. Mary's Guild of the Church and the Parish council. She was also a committee member for the Fall Foliage Festival, the Burnham High School reunion and active with the Burnham Jubilee. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 106 North Dorcas St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Thomas Marickovic officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave, Burnham. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
NEWPORT - Joan M. Weitkamp, 38, of Newport, died Wednesday, July 18, at her home. Born Feb. 26, 1963, in Watertown, SD, she was the daughter of Phyllis Conaway of York Haven and the late Raymond D. Henry, both formerly of Lewistown. Surviving are: three brothers, Raymond "Dave" Henry of York Haven, Fred Henry of Lewistown and Tim Conaway of York; a sister, Linda Ebright of South Carolina; and a step-father, Samuel Conaway of York Haven. She was an administrative assistant at Info Tech Consulting in Camp Hill. Memorial contributions can be may to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 66 Big Mount Road, Thomasville, PA 17364.
MCVEYTOWN - Rena M. Weller, 88, formerly of McVeytown, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at the Malta Home, Granville. Born Feb. 2, 1913, in Snyder County, she was the daughter of the late Nelson G. and Mary Ella (Miller) Knepp. Her husband, William H.H. Weller, preceded her in death in 1937. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Harshbarger, McVeytown, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister, Esther Knepp, Earl Knepp, Andrew Knepp, Lester Knepp, and John Knepp. She was employed at Empire Kosher, retiring in 1973. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Marian Hartman officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery. Friends may call 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Family will provide all flowers.
