Joyce M. Bottorf
LEWISTOWN - Joyce M. Bottorf, 72, of 224 Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown, died at 2:10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn.

Born Jan. 20, 1927, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late John and Florence (Clemens) Blazer. Her husband, Stanley A. Bottorf, whom she married Nov. 17, 1943, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Donna L. Weaver, 717 Roosevelt Ave., Lewistown, Dixie L. Harshbarger, Mattawana, and Wendy S. Blessing, 349 Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by two sons, Barry and Jerry Bottorf and two brothers; and a stepfather, Harry Harp.

She was employed at Fisher Electronics in the packing department until 1972.

She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Route 522 N, Lewistown, with Mr. Wilbur Arnold officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

There will be no public viewing.

George C. Bowen
LEWISTOWN - George C. Bowen, 79, a resident of Ohesson Manor, Lewistown, formerly of 5 North Locke Ave., Yeagertown, died at 3:22 p.m. Monday, July 12, 1999, at the manor.

Born Sept. 21, 1919, in Yeagertown, he was the son of the late Harry and Catherine (Tate) Bowen. His wife, Nina J. (Kilmer) Bowen, whom he married April 14, 1941, survives.

Also surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Charles (Sally) Smith, Northport, Ala. and Mrs. Richard (Janet) Eby, Yeagertown; a brother, Bert A. Bowen, Lewistown; a sister, Mrs. Neil (Audrey) Bobb, Yeagertown; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Sheldon Bowen and a sister, Jean Davis.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy in the European and Pacific theatres.

He was a structural iron worker for Bethlehem Steel for 30 years, retiring in 1981.

He was Lutheran by faith; a life member of the Yeagertown Fire Company; a member of VFW Post 7011, Lewistown; a member of the American Legion Logan Guard Post 90, Lewistown; and a member of the Iron Workers Local 401, Philadelphia.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville, with the Rev. Clifford R. Miller Jr. officiating. Graveside military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.

There will be no public viewing.

Family will provide all funeral flowers.

Tara A. Bowen
BURNHAM - Tara A. Bowen, 36, of 220 Seventh Ave., Burnham, died of natural causes at 4:33 a.m. Friday, April 16, 1999, at the Lewistown Hospital.

Born April 5, 1963, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of Jacques O. Heeter of 220 Seventh Ave., Burnham, and the late Dorothy (Jackson) Heeter. Her husband, William D. Bowen III, whom she married on Oct. 20, 1984, survives.

Also surviving are: a son, William D. Bowen IV at home; and sisters, Kimbra J. Druckemiller of Lewistown, Dana J. Harbst of McClure and Tamara Heeter of Sunbury.

She was a 1981 graduate of Chief Logan High School, Lewistown. She attended Bloomsburg University.

She was a receptionist and secretary for the Women's Health Service, Lewistown. She was also a member of the Freedom Avenue United Methodist Church, Burnham.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with Pastor Leon Clayburger officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery, Burnham.

Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. Sunday until the time of services.

Wanda F. Bowen
LEWISTOWN - Wanda F. Bowen, 69, of 110 Sunset Road, Lewistown, died at 11:01 a.m. Monday, March 29, 1999, at the Lewistown Hospital.

Born Jan. 5, 1930, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late John Dean and Vyerma (Salkeld) Wise. Her husband, John A. Bowen, whom she married Aug. 27, 1949, survives.

Also surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Jack (Debra) George, Harrisburg and Mrs. James (Holly Jo) Shirey, York; and a granddaughter.

She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Wise in 1990.

She was a dental assistant and receptionist for Dr. Saylor. Prior to that she was a buyer/clerk in retail sales.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she served on various church committees and was a member of the adult Sunday school class. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dale Hippensteel officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

There will be no public viewing, but family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the church.

William D. Bowen Sr.
LEWISTOWN - William D. Bowen Sr., 83, of 289 Winding Lane, Lewistown, died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 1999, at his residence.

Born July 6, 1915, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Cloyd and Laura (Kauffman) Bowen. His wife, Mary K. Bowen, died May 3, 1995.

Surviving are: children, William D. Bowen Jr., 315 Winding Lane, Lewistown, Howard "Bud" Bowen, 261 Winding Lane, Lewistown, and Mrs. John (Kathryn) Miller, 289 Winding Lane, Lewistown; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

He was the last of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

He was a self-employed farmer.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Leon R. Clayberger officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Betty M. Bowers
MIFFLIN - Betty M. Bowers, 76, a resident of Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin, formerly of Lewistown, died at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at the village.

Born Feb. 28, 1923, in Mifflin, she was a daughter of the late James B. and Sarah (Ritter) Bowers.

She is survived by a sister, Virginia Goodwin, Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown, and a stepsister, Mrs. Clarence (Mildred) Spade, McAlisterville.

She was a homemaker and a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Lewistown.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Dale Hippensteel and the Rev. Bernard Carpenter officiating.

There will be no public viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Arlene F. Bowersox
BEAVERTOWN - Arlene F. Bowersox, 69, of Beavertown RR1, died at 12:10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 1999, at her home following a brief illness.

Born Aug. 8, 1929, in Beaver Township, Snyder County, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Mabel (Aurand) Bowersox. Her husband, Carl A. Bowersox, whom she married in 1947, survives.

Also surviving are: sons, John L. Bowersox, Frederick, Md. and Roger L. Bowersox, at home; sisters and brothers, Gertrude Bailey, Beavertown, Josephine Oldt, Middleburg, Eugene Zechman, Beavertown RR1, and Stanley Zechman, Middleburg; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Rudolph Zechman in 1996.

She was a seamstress at the former Saylor's Shirt Factory for over 40 years and had also worked at Blough-Wagner, Middleburg.

She attended the Beavertown God's Missionary Church, Middleburg, and was a member of the Rescue Hose Fire Co. ladies auxiliary.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Beavertown God's Missionary Church, with the Rev. James Plank officiating. Interment will be in the Beavertown God's Missionary Church Cemetery.

Friends may call from 12:30 until the time of the service Wednesday at the church.

The Beavertown chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.

Florence V. Bowersox
GRANVILLE - Florence V. Bowersox, 90, a resident of Malta Home, Granville, formerly of 41 Goss Terrace, Lewistown, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital.

Born Oct. 21, 1908, in Somerset County, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Doris E. (Miller) Dickson. Her husband, William E. Bowersox, died Sept. 22, 1985.

Surviving are: sons, Robert D. Bowersox, 1154 W. 5th St., Lewistown and Richard D. Bickel, Philadelphia; a granddaughter, whom she raised, Mrs. Richard (Doris Lorraine) Russell, Fort Collins, Colo.; brothers and sisters, Lillian Cutler, Goss Terrace, Lewistown, Paul J. Dickson, Lewistown, Mrs. Russell (Ethel) Specht and Donald L. Dickson, both of McVeytown RR2; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel W. Bickel; four brothers; six sisters; and one granddaughter.

She was a homemaker and, earlier in life, she had worked for the American Viscose Corporation for a number of years.

She was a member of Strode's Mills Baptist Church.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jonathan C. God officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
