Marlin M. Brubaker
THOMPSONTOWN - Marlin M. Brubaker, 78, of Thompsontown RR1 died at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at the home of John and Pat Garman, with whom he lived.

Born June 4, 1921, in Delaware Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Jay M. and Sadie M. (Fry) Brubaker. His wife, Bertha M. (Bellas) Brubaker, preceded him in death on Jan.10, 1975.

He is survived by: one brother, Melvin Brubaker, Port Royal RD1; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

He retired in 1983 from the Finishing Department of Triangle Pacific Cabinets Corp., Thompsontown.

He was a member of the Turkey Valley United Methodist Church, Millerstown RR2.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Joe P. Samples officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown.

Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service Monday.

Beatrice F. Bruce
SUNBURY - Beatrice F. Bruce, 90, of 800 Court Street Circle, Sunbury, died at 1:55 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at Manor Care, where she had been a patient for three years.

Born Sept. 16, 1909, in Reedsville, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Rhoda (Shawber) Traxler. Her husband, Theodore Bruce, died in February of 1952.

Surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Geraldine J.) Leitner and Francis E. Martin, both of Shamokin Dam, Beatrice M. Hontz, Stonington, and Mrs. Douglas (Carol R.) Ammon, Point Township; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Emma L. Bruce, and brothers and sisters, Stella, Anna, Helen, Rhoda, Hazel, Bruce, John, Merle, Dorse and Walter.

She worked in the dietary department of Sunbury Community Hospital for 30 years before retiring in 1984.

She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Church, Sunbury.

She enjoyed reading and needlework.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Brian Desautels officiating. Interment will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery, Yeagertown.

Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania, 1013 Mumma Road, Suite 303, Lemoyne, PA 17043.

Harold Bennett 'H.B.' Brumbaugh
HUNTINGDON - Harold Bennett "H.B." Brumbaugh, 88, of 160 Aspen Lane, Westminster Woods Retirement Community, Huntingdon, formerly of Juniata College, died at 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Altoona Hospital.

Born May 23, 1911, in Woodbury, Bedford County, he was a son of the late Alvah S. and Nancy L. (Bennett) Brumbaugh.

He is survived by a brother, Leonard Bennett Brumbaugh, Shippensburg, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Bennett Brumbaugh, and a sister, Anna (Brumbaugh) Lashley.

He was a 1929 graduate of Altoona High School; a 1933 graduate of Juniata College; took some graduate classes at Duke University the summer of 1933; and he received the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Juniata College in 1975.

In 1936, he moved into The Cloister, a residence building on the campus of Juniata College and lived there until 1968.

He was employed as follows: 1933-35, Woodbury High School teacher; 1935-36, principal of New Paris-Napier High School; 1936, assistant to Juniata College President Charles C. Ellis; 1939-62, alumni secretary; 1963, named vice-president for development and named curator of the Juniata College Museum; 1976 retired, Vice President of College Advancement Emeritus; 1979-87, president, Weimer-Oller Travel Agency Inc.; and 1979-1994, Juniata College Trustee.

He was a member of Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon. He was also past president of the Middle District Men's Work Council of the Church of the Brethren; former chairman of the Commission on the Ministry, Church of the Brethren; past president of the Rotary Club of Huntingdon; past director of the Huntingdon County United Fund; trustee of the Huntingdon County Library; a member of the Huntingdon County Historical Society; board member of the Pennsylvania State Council of Churches; past president of the Huntingdon County Tourist Promotion Agency; a member of the Pennsylvania Folklore Society; served on the Juniata Board of Trustees from 1979-1994; and served as president from 1968-1970 of the Middle Atlantic District of the American Alumni Council.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stone Church of the Brethren, 17th and Moore streets, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Dale W. Dowdy and the Rev. Christy L. Dowdy officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, 245 Standing Stone Ave., Huntingdon.

Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon.

A special Juniata College memorial service will be held during Alumni Weekend, Saturday, May 20.

George D. 'Pete' Bryner
MCCOYSVILLE - George D. "Pete" Bryner, 59, of McCoysville (Bunker Hill), died at 12:12 p.m. Monday, April 12, 1999, at his residence.

Born March 16, 1940, in Honey Grove, Juniata County, he was the son of Virginia M. (Landis) Bryner, Port Royal RR2 and the late Paul D. Bryner. His wife, Cheryl L. (Richmond) Bryner, whom he married Dec. 23, 1995, survives.

Also surviving are: a son, David G. Bryner, Mifflintown; eight daughters, Connie L. Cain, Granbury, Texas, Brenda L. Nace and Roseann Leach, both of Mifflintown, Darla J. Brackbill, Port Royal, Georgia Wynn, McAlisterville, Melissa Bryner, Duncannon, Virginia L. Bryner and Mary L. Bryner, both at home; one step-daughter, Tammy Richmond, Inwood, W. Va.; four brothers, Donald L. Bryner and Russell Bryner, both of Port Royal, Dennis R. Bryner, Honey Grove, and Tom Bryner, Mifflin; one sister, Vivian Fisher, Mesa, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry M. Bryner and Robert P. Bryner.

In earlier life, he had been employed as a well driller for Williams Hubler Well Drilling. He retired on disability in 1998 as a heavy equipment operator for pipeline and road construction.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Dennis Thompson officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

There will be no public viewing.

Family will provide all funeral flowers.

Kenneth R. Bryer
YEAGERTOWN - Kenneth R. Bryer, 51, of 307 N. Derry Ave., Yeagertown, died at 5:57 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, in the emergency room at Lewistown Hospital.

Born May 10, 1948, in Lewistown, he was a son of the Rose Mary (Newlands) Bryer of 155 C Valley St., Lewistown, and the late Leroy Bryer. His wife, Dorothy (Carter) Bryer, whom he married March 10, 1974, survives.

Surviving are: a son, Raymond J. Bryer, Calif.; sisters, Mrs. Larry (Rosalee) Dodson, Lewistown, and Mary Grace McCellan, Mifflintown RD.

He was laborer, working at Gardenview Egg House, Reedsville.

He was a member of Lockes Banks Evangelical Methodist Church, Milroy RD1.

He was also a member of Lewistown Moose Lodge 143, Yeagertown Fire Company, and Boy Scout Troop 143, Lewistown, of which he served as assistant scoutmaster.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lockes Banks Evangelical Methodist Church, Milroy RD1, with the Rev. William A. Herrick and the Rev. Allen Mowery officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no public viewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lockes Banks Evangelical Methodist Church Parking Lot Building Fund, c/o Ruth Aumiller, RD2, Box 129, Milroy, PA 17063.

Alberta A. Bubb
REEDSVILLE - Alberta A. Bubb, 84, of 148 King St., Reedsville, died at 9:02 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 1999, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn.

Born Oct. 9, 1914, in Belleville, she was the daughter of the late Martin E. and Mary L. (Coy) Hook. Her husband, Charles S. Bubb, died Jan. 27, 1994.

Surviving are: children, Mary L. (Rager) Simonetti and Donald R. Bubb, both of Reedsville, and Martin C. Bubb, Burnham; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and four step-great-grandchildren. She also cared for numerous foster children.

She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by a grandson; a great-granddaughter; an infant brother, David Milton Hook; a brother, Walter Hook; and a sister, Dorothy Hook.

She was a 1933 graduate of Belleville High School and a 1936 graduate of the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a nurse, having worked at the Lewistown Hospital and for Dr. Chubb in Reedsville, retiring from Dr. Michael DeVita's office.

She was a member of the Reedsville United Methodist Church and the Dorcas Class of the church.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Reedsville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard J. Bender officiating.

There will be no public viewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to: the Reedsville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 235, Reedsville, PA 17084.

Norman J. Bumgardner
BURNHAM - Norman J. Bumgardner, 76, of 800 E. Freedom Ave., Burnham, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, at his residence.

Born July 7, 1923, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late John H. and Martha E. (Skipper) Bumgardner. His wife, Ida (Confer) Bumgardner, whom he married June 2, 1946, survives.

Also surviving are: sons, James N. Bumgardner, Summerdale and Donald L. Bumgardner, Burnham; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was the last of his immediate family and was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army Airborne.

He was a mechanic for Frey Motors for 20 years, retiring in 1983.

He was Methodist by faith.

He was a life member of the Lewistown BPOE Lodge 663, the Fame Fire Co., the City, Hook and Ladder Fire Co., the American Legion Logan Guard Post 90, and the VFW Post 5640, Middleburg.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Juniata Memorial Park, with the Rev. David Schmuck officiating.

There will be no public viewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Lois W. Bupp
SELINSGROVE - Lois W. Bupp, 72, of North Eighth Street, Selinsgrove, died at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at the Sunbury Community Hospital.

Born Aug. 9, 1926, in Milford Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late C. Ernest and Mary (Woodward) Lauver.

Surviving are: children, Douglas E. Bupp, Middleburg, Chuck E. Bupp, Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Francis (Linda G.) Russell, Annapolis, Md.; brother and sisters, Alton Lauver, Mifflin, Mrs. Merrill (Anna) Gross, Mt. Wolfe, and Mrs. Ronald R. (Jane) Fogleman, Durango, Colo.; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Karl E. Lauver and a sister, Marilyn Lauver.

She was a 1944 graduate of Juniata High School and a 1947 graduate of the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a registered nurse at the Rathfon Convalescent Home, Selinsgrove.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Selinsgrove.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, and long walks.

Services will be held at at 8 p.m. Friday at the V. L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, and at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mifflin, with the Rev. Daniel L. Busch officiating both services. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Mifflin.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. until the time of services Friday at the the funeral home.
