Born Aug. 2, 1936, in Mifflintown, he was the son of the late Simon and Gertrude (Leonard) Davis. His wife, Joanne E. (McCulloch) Davis, whom he married Aug. 31, 1957, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Ritchie E. Davis and Karen L. Frontz, both of Mifflintown RR1, James S. Davis, Thompsontown RR1, and Christine F. Fortenbaugh, Newport; sisters, Betty Ort, Mechanicsburg, Margaret Ort, Mill Hall, and Susan Marquart, Carlisle; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Davis.
He was a 1956 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown.
He was owner of John E. Davis Construction from 1971-1988 and a building supervisor for S&A Homes until 1996.
He attended the Pleasant Valley Chapel, Mount Pleasant Mills and was a charter member of the Thompsontown Lions Club.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Enos Shelley and the Rev. Eugene Heidler officiating. Interment will be in Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice: The Bridge, 1126 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
Violet L. Davis
Born March 12, 1918, in Portage, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Sophia (George) Bickelman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Davis, on May 23, 1987.
Surviving are: a son, Dr. A. Garth Davis of Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Annabelle Mowery of Apopka, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded by four sisters.
She owned and operated Davis Beauty Shop for 21 years, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Mother's Club of Lewistown and the Women of the Moose Auxiliary.
The funeral service is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jeffrey D. McCleary officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the funeral service Thursday at the funeral home.

Wanda M. Dawson
She was born March 1, 1910, in Lewistown. Her husband, Robert C. Dawson, died in 1983.
Surviving are: children, Dorothy Huffman and Phyllis Pennepacker, Ravenna, Ohio, Robert Carl Jones, Milroy, Patty Jones, Orbisonia; a sister, Frieda Sloan, South Carolina; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Richard Jones and Earl Eugene Jones.
Private services will be held today at Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Grundon officiating. Interment will be in Three Springs Cemetery.
Ray J. Deamer
Born July 30, 1926, in Decatur Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Jennie M. (Weiand) Deamer. His wife, Arlene (Brindel) Deamer, whom he married Jan. 8, 1949, survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Michael R. Deamer, Norfolk, Neb.; brother and sisters, Jay W. Deamer, Huntingdon, Mrs. Gilbert (Verna) Nepper, Lewistown RR4, Helen Aumiller, Milroy, Mrs. Marlin (Phyllis) Sipe and Mrs. Kenneth (Letty) Lawver, both of McClure, and Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Freed and Irene Frye, both of Alfarata.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a boring mill operator in Machine Shop I at Standard Steel, Burnham, for 37 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Alfarata, and the United Steelworkers of America Local 1940.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Vira Methodist Cemetery, Lewistown.
There will be no public viewing.

Richard S. Deamer
Born Dec. 14, 1910, in Alfarata, he was a son of the late Walter S. and Neta R. (Reber) Deamer. His wife, Bernice P. (Gray) Deamer, died Feb. 20, 1999.
Surviving are: a son, Tom E. Deamer, 40 Colpitts Drive, West Windsor, NY; brothers and sisters, W. Reber Deamer, Lewistown RR3, Mrs. Roman (Eva) Boczkowski, Reading, Robert E. Deamer, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Mrs. John (Jean) Lane, Belleville; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Madeline K. Fitzpatrick and two sisters.
He was a graduate of Lewistown High School.
He was a foreman of the forge shop of Standard Steel, Burnham, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alfarata, past president of the Birch Hill Foremans Club and was a charter member of the Alfarata Lions Club. He was also an avid golfer.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 573 Alfarata Road, with the Rev. Clyde B. Singh officiating. Interment will be in the Alfarata Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the church.

Esther M. Dean
Born March 30, 1918, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Granville Earl and Mary Blanche (Palm) Kochenderfer. Her husband, Calvin D. Dean, died Jan. 8, 1991.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. William (Jane) Cool, 311 Hillsdale Ave., Lewistown; sisters, Millicent Wilt, Eighth Avenue, Highland Park, Lewistown and Beulah Jane Moyer, Lewistown; and one grandson.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Kochenderfer.
She was a graduate of Lewistown High School, class of 1935.
She was co-owner of the Mifflin County Credit Bureau for 45 years, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewistown.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald A. Krum officiating. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no public viewing.

Arthur D. DeArment Sr.
Born April 13, 1921, in Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mabel (Shields) DeArment. His wife, Dorothy (Silks) DeArment, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Arthur "Dave" DeArment Jr., Locust Grove, Mifflintown, Holly Schaeffer, Reedsville, Brenda Vega, Florida, Jean Davis, Gary E. DeArment Sr., Tina Brought, Robert P. DeArment, Kim Collanbine and Tammy Jenkins, all of Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Dorothy Condol and Fern K. DeArment, both of Lewistown, Alverda Woodling, Belleville, and Robert E. DeArment and Betty Boreing, both of Lewistown RR4; 42 grandchildren and 68 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two children, Larry DeArment and Linda DeArment, two brothers and two sisters.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He was employed in the melt shop at Standard Steel, Burnham, for over 30 years.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, where graveside military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
T. Henry Deiss
Born July 16, 1908, in Founstain Spring, he was a son of the late Rev. Harry J. and Helen (Neumyer) Deiss. His wife, Dorothy (Thompson) Deiss, preceded him in death June 28, 1984.
Surviving are: a brother, Louis A. Deiss of State College; and a nephew.
A graduate of Shippensburg University, with a Bachelor of Science in education, he received his Master of Arts degree from Penn State University. He was a teacher in the Mifflin County School District for 36 years and a principal at Chief Logan Elementary School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the White Memorial United Church of Christ, Milroy.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Employees Retirement Association, Mifflin County Chapter; past president of the Elementary Principals Association; served 17 years on the Lewistown Hospital Board of Trustees and eight years on the Mifflin County Board of Assistance; was a member of the Milroy Lions Club, Lewistown BPOE Lodge No. 663, Lewistown Masonic Lodge No. 203, National Education Association and the Mifflin County Association of School Retirees.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at the White Memorial United Church of Christ, Milroy, with the Rev. James E. Hughes and the Rev. Elam H. Glick officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.
