Born Jan. 30, 1913, in Reedsville, he was the son of the late Ralph T. Harmon, who died Aug. 3, 1961 and the late Amanda Minerva (McCardle) Harmon, who died June 26, 1975. His wife, Margaret F. (Smith) Harmon, whom he married March 25, 1932, survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William (Wanda) LaMarca, Reedsville, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen A. Galbraith on Feb. 24, 1977.
He was employed at Standard Steel for 23 years; owned and operated the Mary Carter & Glidden Paint Stores for eight years; and worked for Jay-Wood & Lewistown Cabinet Company for 12 years.
He was a member of the Reedsville United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class. He was also past president of the National and Pennsylvania Federation of Men's Bible Classes, the Free & Accepted Masons Lodge 203 in Lewistown, and the president of the Reedsville Historical Society.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Reedsville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard J. Bender, the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler and the Rev. Edward T. Brandt officiating. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at the Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, where Masonic services will be conducted at 8:30 p.m.

Ruth A. Harper
Born Nov. 22, 1914, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Maude (Kohler) Brannan. Her husband, Roland Harper, died April 15, 1966.
Surviving are: children, Mrs. Gene (Delphine) Knarr and Constance Sue Weaver, both of Lewistown, Gary Druckenmiller, Florida, and Bonnie Harper Faber, Harrisburg; four stepchildren; a half sister, Erma Shepherd, Lewistown; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was a housewife and a member of Lake Park United Methodist Church.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Ray Brinson officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Wilbur F. Harpster
Born Oct. 29, 1927, in Burnham, he was a son of the late George and Lulabelle (Sweitzer) Harpster. His first wife, Barbara (Rose) Harpster, died in 1966. His second wife, Mary (Morrison) Harpster, survives.
Also surviving are: children, George E. Harpster, Lewistown, Barbara Kinsey, Berryville, Va., David K. Harpster, Pleasant Gap, Christopher L. Harpster, Tennessee; stepchildren, Lynn Kearns and Linda Hoy, both of McClure; brothers and sisters, Ethel Beck, Lewisburg, Belmont Harpster, Donald Harpster, and Jane Stewart, all of Burnham; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He worked as a melter at Standard Steel for 25 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Walnut Street United Methodist Church, Burnham, and a member of F&AM, McVeytown Lodge.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Walnut Street United Methodist Church, Burnham, with the Rev. James Yoder and the Rev. Larry Lutz officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery.
There will be no public viewing, but family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services Friday at the church.

Ira E. 'Bing' Harris
Born June 9, 1920, in McAlisterville, he was the son of the late Ira Harris and Grace (Varner) Harris Strawser. His wife, Helen (Bond) Harris, whom he married in 1944, survives.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Howard C. "Tink" (Debra K.) Hickes, Huntingdon RR; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
He was the last of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two half-brothers, John Strawser and Albert Strawser. He was also preceded in death by stepfather, Harry Strawser.
He was a U. S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II, having served from 1942-1946 in the Pacific Theatre of Operations.
Prior to his military service, he had worked in Baltimore with the Glenn L. Martin Company. He then worked for the Huntingdon plant of Owens Corning Fiberglas from 1948 until his retirement in 1982.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Huntingdon; the Mount Moriah Lodge 300, F&AM; Valley of Altoona Consistory, A.A.S.R.; Jaffa Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S. and its Sons of Mecca and Legion of Honor; and past president of the Huntingdon County Shrine Club.
He enjoyed fishing and was very active in local stock car racing, serving as a scorekeeper at numerous local tracks.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. Rick D. Barnes officiating. Interment will be in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township, Huntingdon, where full military rites will be conducted.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Friends may also call from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday.
Mary R. Harris
Born Nov. 7, 1910, in Mount Union, she was a daughter of the late James C. and Martha (Morgan) Gifford. Her husband, Thomas J. Harris, whom she married Dec. 31, 1937, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Thomas D. Harris, 239 Park Drive, Reedsville, and Joyce Clark, Cromwell, Conn.; sisters, Jane Gifford, Huntingdon, Helen Barber, Mount Union, and Grace Atp, Dayton, Ohio; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
She was a homemaker and, earlier in life, she was a production employee for 18 years at Cluett-Peabody Shirt Factory, Lewistown.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Private interment will be in Gilland Cemetery, Orbisonia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kish Valley Grace Brethren Church, Taylor Park, Reedsville, PA 17084.
Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
Walter E. Harris
Born Dec. 16, 1910, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late William H. and Julia (Hess) Harris. His wife, Stella Harris, died March 18, 1986.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. David (Mary J.) Kepner, Port Royal; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Eleanor Eaton, on Oct. 8, 1999; two brothers and one sister.
He had been employed by the American Viscose Corp.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Michael Bailey officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mildred N. Harry
Born Feb. 23, 1922, in Logan Township, Blair County, she was a daughter of the late Walter J. and Christie A. (McMonigle) Nolan. She was raised in the home of the late Walter and Maude (Nolan) Gern. Her first husband, Clinton "Pint" Cramer, died March 21, 1966 and her second husband, Lantz A. Harry, whom she married Feb. 9, 1967, died Oct. 4, 1977.
Surviving are: children, Samuel N. Cramer, Mount Union RR1 and Mrs. Donald (Sandra E.) Stoner, McVeytown RR1; stepdaughter, Mrs. Nelson (JoAnn) Baer, McVeytown RR2; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of step grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Walter and Stuart Nolan and one step-granddaughter.
She was a 1939 graduate of Altoona High School.
She served as tax collector for over 20 years in Wayne Township, Mifflin County and prior to that, had been employed at the Gay Shop in Mount Union and the L. Grief Bros. Manufacturing Co., Mount Union.
She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Altoona and attended the Presbyterian Church and the Ryde Methodist Church.
She was a member of the Mifflin County Republican Committee for many years and she loved to read.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, 61 E. Shirley St., Mount Union, with the Rev. Dayton Sines officiating. Interment will be in Mount Union Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Alvin L. Harshbarger
Born Feb. 11, 1924, in Wayne Township, he was the son of the late Andrew E. and N. Pauline (Miller) Harshbarger. His wife, Naomi M. (Varner) Harshbarger, whom he married Jan. 8, 1949, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Leroy C. Harshbarger, Mrs. Kenneth (Carol L.) Berrier, and Connie L. Ronk, all of McVeytown, and Della E. Harshbarger, Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Clarence E. Harshbarger, Donald J. Harshbarger, George N. Harshbarger, Melvin T. Harshbarger, Charles E. Harshbarger, Mrs. Russell (Leah) Young, Mrs. Robert (Eleanor) Bishop, and Mrs. Gary (Patsy) Wike, all of McVeytown; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve Boozel; three brothers, Warren A. Harshbarger, Ralph W. Harshbarger, and Walter R. Harshbarger; and one grandson.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre, where he received the Purple Heart Medal.
He was employed at Pennsylvania Glass Sand for 31 years and retired as a welder from Faylor Middlecreek in 1986.
He was Brethren by faith.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a former member of the McVeytown Lions Club and the Atkinson Mills Sportsman's Club.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed annual fishing trips to northern Quebec.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, with the Rev. Marian E. Hartman and the Rev. Charles F. Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in Pleasantview Cemetery, Mattawana.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

LEWISTOWN - Ruth A. Harper, 85, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, formerly of 196 S. Main St., Lewistown, died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at the nursing home.
LEWISTOWN - Wilbur F. Harpster, 72, of 216 Eighth St., Lewistown, died at 2:55 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital.
HUNTINGDON - Ira E. "Bing" Harris, 78, of 1129 Moore St., Huntingdon, died at 12:05 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 1999, at the University Park Nursing Center, State College, following an extended illness.
