Born Aug. 9, 1911, in Reedsville, he was a son of the late Herbert B. and Pearl E. (Cramer) Hassinger. His wife, Bertha L. (Bossinger) Hassinger, whom he married in 1936, survives.
Also surviving are: a son, James F. Hassinger, Hagerstown, Md.; sister and brother, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Shoop, State College, and Frank L. Hassinger, Denton, Mt.
He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
He was U. S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He retired from Standard Steel after 20 years of service.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lewistown, the Ich Dien Class, and Local 7940 of United Commercial Travelers.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald Krum officiating. Interment will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Lewistown.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Virginia B. Hasson
Born May 9, 1947, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of Howard S. Gro of 100 Gro Lane, Lewistown, and the late Emma E. (Karstetter) Gro. Her husband, John C. Hasson of 2 Church Drive, Lewistown, whom she married May 25, 1980, survives.
She is also survived by a sister, Jean Abbott, 417 W. Fifth St., Lewistown.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Ann Eckley on July 7, 1976.
She was employed at Lewistown Specialty Yarns, retiring in 1996.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Henderson Fire Co., United Fire and Rescue ladies auxiliary, and Lewistown Ostomy Outreach Group.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Ronald Hoffman officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Max R. Haubert
Born Nov. 22, 1912, in East Salem, he was a son of the late Harry J. and H. Pearl (Roper) Haubert. His wife, Hazel M. (Elsasser) Haubert, whom he married Feb. 18, 1933, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Harry M. Haubert and Dale H. Haubert, both of Lima, N.Y., Mrs. Leon (Betty) Miller, Richfield, James W. Haubert, McAlisterville RR1, Julia Ann Bean, Henrietta, N.Y., Robert L. Haubert, McAlisterville RR1. and Mrs. Dr. Theadore (Bonnie M.) Belis, Altoona; a sister, Loise Haubert, Thompsontown RR1; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild, and brothers and sisters, Clair Jordan, Harry K. Haubert, Pauline Sweigart, Phyllis Nace, Maude Mengel and Mary E. Frymoyer.
He was a life-long farmer, retiring in 1978 from his own farm in Cocolamus where he raised dairy cattle, chickens and grain. He was previously a tenant farmer in Beaver Springs and did share-crop farming in Maze, Van Wert and East Salem.
He had attended East Salem Elementary School and was a member of East Salem United Methodist Church, East Salem Rod and Gun Club and Eastern Milk Producers Association.
He was an avid Phillies fan, coin collector and deer hunter.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Brown's United Methodist Church, McAlisterville RR2, with the Rev. Ronald E. Landis officiating. Interment will be in Brown's United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cocolamus.
Friends may call 4-9 p.m. Sunday at Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, where the family will be present to receive friends 7-9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Brown's United Methodist Church, RR2, Box 2395, McAlisterville, PA 17049; or East Salem United Methodist Church, RR2, Box 1170, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
Fredrick Havice
Born July 23, 1916, in Buffalo, NY, he was a son of the late Clarence M. and Elizabeth (Johnson) Havice. His wife, Mildred P. (Long) Havice, whom he married Dec. 13, 1936, survives.
Also surviving are: a sister, Mrs. Gordon (Marguerette) Hein, Altoona; brother, Clarence Havice, Milroy; and grandchildren, Mrs. Todd (Lori) Vogt and Robert B. Havice, both of Lewistown; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert F. Havice in 1972; a brother, Eugene Havice, and two sisters, Isabel Eckley and Madeline Reeder.
In early life, he was the owner/operator of Havice Market, Yeagertown. He was last employed as a butcher for Cobles Foods, Inc., Lewistown.
He was a member of the Yeagertown United Methodist Church and of the Blue Rock Sportsmans Club.
He was an avid outdoorsman.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Thomas B. Morningstar officiating. Interment will be at the Juniata Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Mildred P. 'Tillie' Havice
Born March 6, 1917, in Milroy, she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Pearl (Ripka) Long. Her husband, Fredrick Havice, died Dec. 31, 1999.
Surviving are: sisters, Mrs. Carl (Ellie) Kramer and Lestie Long, both of Milroy, and Faye Harshman, Lewistown; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert F. Havice, in 1972, and a brother, Clarence Long.
Her last occupation was as a clerk at the Municipal Authority, Lewistown Borough. She was also co-owner/operator of Havice Market, Yeagertown, and was employed at Coble Foods, Lewistown.
She was a member of Yeagertown United Methodist Church.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Thomas B. Morningstar officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Donald Jerome Hawn
Born Jan. 14, 1914, in West Township, Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late C. Oscar and Jennie (Green) Hawn. His wife of 45 years, Dorothy J. (Cummins) Hawn, survives.
He is survived by a brother, Eldon H. Hawn, Petersburg RR2; two nieces, three nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews, Belleville.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, G. Harold Hawn, Robert G. Hawn, Charles O. Hawn, and Hazel C. Hawn.
He attended West Township public schools and graduated in 1932 from the Petersburg Vocational High School.
He was in partnership with his brothers in farming and was in sales with Hoffman Seeds for 36 years until his retirement. He also sold farm equipment.
He was a member of Manor Hill United Methodist Church, Petersburg, the Men's Bible Class, the church choir and the Methodist Men's Organization.
He loved music and played violin, guitar and harmonica. He also wrote poetry.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. Shirley J. Russell officiating. Interment will be in Mooresville Cemetery, West Township, Petersburg.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Manor Hill United Methodist Church, RR1, Box 218, Petersburg, PA 16669.
Chester Earl 'Pete' Hayes
Born March 21, 1929, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Paul Raymond and Mollie L. (Brininger) Hayes. His wife, Carol Ann (Knoll) Hayes, whom he married Dec. 1, 1994, survives.
Also surviving are: sons, David Hayes, Reedsville and Michael L. Hayes, Lewistown; sister and brothers, Dorothy L. Wagner and Fred H. Hayes, both of Lewistown, and Paul D. Hayes, Milroy; and three grandchildren.
He attended Lewistown High School.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and received the Victory Medal. He spent one year on a submarine and one year on the air craft carrier, The Coral Sea, sailing on her maiden voyage.
He was employed as a compressor room worker at the American Viscose, Lewistown for 12 years and as a welder and iron worker in Local 772, Clearfield. He retired in 1987 as a rigger at Standard Steel, Burnham.
He was a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge 663, Lewistown.
He enjoyed gemstone cutting, jewelry making, gardening, fishing, and counted cross stitch.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Dolores R. Hayes
Born Dec. 20, 1929, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. "Toss" and Katherine (Stewart) Lawler Sr.
Surviving are: sons, Michael Hayes, Lewistown and David Hayes, Reedsville; sister and brother, Barbara Weaver and Thomas Lawler Jr., both of Lewistown; and three grandchildren.
She was a housewife.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown, with the Rev. Father Thomas Marickovic officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
There will be no public viewing.
The Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
