Born Jan. 1, 1922, in Portage, he was the son of the late Chester L. and Bertha M. (Clark) Himes.
He is survived by brothers, Merrell D. Himes, 10 Sue St., Milroy, and Lewis H. Himes, 49 N. Pine St., Lewistown.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
He was employed by Chrysler Motors, Detroit, Mich., for 40 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of the Church Hill United Methodist Church, Reedsville.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown. Interment will be in Forrest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Sherman M. Himes
Born April 28, 1911, in McClure, he was a son of the late Clay and Flo (Wagner) Himes. His wife Margaret Krick, whom he married April 24, 1934, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Donald (Marie) Pick, Spring City, Bernice Hornberger, Royersford, Mrs. Gary (Janice) Moore, Northumberland, Mrs. Norman (Pearl) Strickler, Millmont, Harold Himes, Mifflinburg, and Dennis, Troy and Kenneth Himes, all of Millmont; a brother, David J. Himes, McClure RR2; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Barry Eugene Pick, and a brother, Marvin Himes.
He retired from Laurelton State Village after 28 years of service.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Millmont.
He enjoyed working on his lawn and working with wood.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Baker's United Methodist Church, McClure RR2. Interment will be in Baker's Church Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
Ruth B. Hipple
Born July 27, 1928, in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late Clinton and Margaret (Harlan) Brittain. Her husband, N. Ramsey Hipple, preceded her in death.
Surviving are: children, Thomas R. Hipple, Honey Grove RR1, James A. Hipple and Richard G. Hipple, both of Oakford, George C. Hipple, HC 67, McCoysville, Mary Ann Jones, Lawrenceville, NJ, and Susan A. Conner, Walnut Bottom; sister, Mary B. Picketts, Burnham; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert C. Hipple and a brother, Paul Brittain.
She was a 1950 graduate of Lock Haven University and a former school teacher at West Ward Elementary School, Downingtown.
She was a member of the Downingtown United Methodist Church and attended McCoysville Presbyterian Church. She was a volunteer at the Juniata County Library, Mifflintown.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the McCoysville Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in the McCoysville Cemetery.
There will be no public viewing.

George S. Hirakis
Born Dec. 26, 1931, in Paintersville, he was a son of the late Theodore and Alice (Collins) Hirakis. He is survived by a companion, Kija Cheong.
Also surviving are: sister and brothers, Mrs. John (Phyllis) Wear, Ted Hirakis and Donald Hirakis, all of Lewistown, Emmanuel Hirakis, Connecticut, and Milton Hirakis, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
He attended Lewistown and Burnham schools.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He worked for Penline TV Construction Co. and AT&T District Cable as a supervisor in Buffalo, N.Y.; worked for Cable Ship Longlines as a supervisor that laid transoceanic cable in Great Brittain, France, Germany, Japan, the Pacific Islands, Hawaii, West Indies, South America and Alaska. He also worked for Kentron Telephone as a construction contractor to the U. S. government in Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam, during the Vietnam War.
He taught English in Japan and Korea, and was a technical manager translator for import-export in international business.
He attended Lewistown Presbyterian Church.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 90, Lewistown.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Bruce Hinderliter officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services today at the funeral home.

Esther Hockenberry
She was born April 11, 1943, in New Castle, Pa. Her husband, Foster L. Hockenberry, whom she married in 1990, survives.
She was a homemaker.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no public viewing.

William John Hockenberry
Born on Sept. 14, 1925, in Mount Union, he was the son of the late J. William and Daisy (Lehman) Hockenberry.
Surviving are: three children, John W. Hockenberry, Pottstown, Chiri Brower, Henrietta Street, Lewistown, and David R. Hockenberry, Texas; two step-children, Robert Mowery, Oakland Avenue, Lewistown and Stacy McMurtrie, Walnut Street, Lewistown; a brother, Thomas Hockenberry, New York; nine grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three great-grandchildren.
He was a retired plumber/handyman for Elsesser's Apartments.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Bible Baptist Church, Burnham.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Bible Baptist Church, with Pastor John S. Walters officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bible Baptist Church, 101 N. Beech St., Burnham, PA.

William O. Hockensmith
He was born Aug. 2, 1926, in Phildelphia. His wife, Reiko (Kitamura) Hockensmith, Camp Hill, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Susan Nugent, California, Billie Stuck, Burnham, and William Hockensmith Jr., Georgia; sisters, Bonnie Mellott, McClure, and Peggy McCartney, Burnham; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was a 23-year retiree from the U.S Navy, serving in both the Korean Conflict and World War II.
He was a retired truck driver and had been employed by Preston Trucking.
He was a member of the VFW in Dillsburg, the AARP Golf Club, and Burnham Fire Co., where he was a volunteer from 1968-1980.
Services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to: the Teamsters Local 430, 1780 Sixth Ave., York, PA 17402.
The Cremation Society of Pa., 4100 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, is in charge of arrangements.
Harold A. Hoenstine
Born Jan. 29, 1922, in Imler RR1, Bedford County, he was a son of the late William G. and Ada M. (Hengst) Hoenstine. His wife Lois A. (Arnold) Hoenstine, whom he married Nov. 9, 1945, survives.
Also surviving are: children, William L. Hoenstine, Orlando, Fla., and Nancy Stannert, Frederick, Md.; two grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was the last of his immediate family.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army Medical Corps.
He was a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, and after his being licensed to practice funeral services in Pennsylvania, he owned and directed the Hoenstine Funeral Home in New Bloomfield from 1950-1955. Starting in 1955, he was owner and director/supervisor of Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., Lewistown until his retirement Feb. 28, 1987.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lewistown, where he served on the Board of Trustees and as superintendent of the Sunday school for many years.
He was past president of New Bloomfield Lions Club and a member of Lewistown Lions Club, where he held various offices including president. He was also a life member of BPO Elks 663, Lewistown; Lewistown Moose Lodge 143; UCT Council 591; F&AM Lodge 203; and Mifflin County Roundtable of Christians and Jews, where he served as treasurer and, as of 1993, held an emeritus position on the Roundtable. He was a past member of the board of directors of Lewistown Hospital, the Salvation Army and Standard Savings and Loan Association.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
