Born Dec. 17, 1917, in Middleburg RR1, Centre Township, he was a son of the late Abraham Lincoln and Lucy (Keister) Kuhns. His wife, Luella Mae (Renninger) Kuhns, whom he married Feb. 19, 1938, survives.
Also surviving are: sons, Larry E. Kuhns, Middleburg RR1, Leonard D. Kuhns and the Rev. Daryl M. Kuhns, both of Mount Pleasant Mills RR1; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was the last of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by a grandson, Larry E. Kuhns Jr,. on April 24, 1976; brothers, William, Clayton, Ira, Lester, Nelson and Francis Kuhns; and sisters, Nellie Kuhns, Vergie Hackenberg, Maude Raker, Ida Zechman and Agnes Nerhood.
He was educated at Hartman's Grammar Schoolhouse.
He started in the lumber business in 1946, and later founded the Carl R. Kuhns and Sons Lumber Company.
He was a charter member of Mount Pleasant Mills Church of Christ in Christian Union, taught Sunday school for 60 years and served on the church board for 30 years. He also taught Sunday school at Daniel's Church, Mount Pleasant Mills RR2.
He was an avid hunter and berry grower.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Mount Pleasant Mills RR1, with the Rev. Daryl M. Kuhns officiating and the Rev. Barry J. Arnold and the Rev. Wes Humble assisting. Interment will be in Daniel's-St. Thomas Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills RR2.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Box 162, RR1, Mount Pleasant Mills, PA 17853.

Donal B. 'Pappy' Kuhns-Haines
Born July 7, 1942, in McClure, Snyder County, he was the son of the late Charles A. Haines Sr. and Laura (Solt) Kuhns. His wife of 37 years, Dorothy M. (Zettle) Haines, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Jay W. (Kimberly J.) Alleman, Bainbridge, Samuel K. Haines, Indiantown Gap, John E. Haines, Elizabethtown, and Shelly L. Haines, at home; stepmother, Lorraine Haines, Beaver Springs; sisters and brothers, Mrs. Robert (Kathryn) Royer, Elizabethtown, Elaine Henry, Glendale, Calif., Mrs. George (Rhonda) Andreadis, Lancaster, Evelyn Snyder, Sunbury, Susan Haines, Middleburg, Dwayne Kuhns, Apple Valley, Minn., and Charles A. Haines Jr., Beaver Springs; and nine grandchildren.
He was a United States Navy veteran and received a National Defense Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for serving in the Dominican Republic, and other medals and awards. Following his discharge from the Navy, he served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for 10 years.
He was employed for 27 years as a welder and a maintenance worker for Fruehauf Corporation until its closing. He then worked for two years building bulk tank trailers for Heil Trailer International in Centerville.
He was a member of the American Legion, Middletown Post No. 594; the Wrightsville Seagrave Social Club; the Columbia Friendship Association; and the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Frank S. Miller Funeral Home, 130 North Market St., Elizabethtown, with the Rev. Charles E. Marshall officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia, Pa.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Luella M. Kuhns
Born June 4, 1919 in rural Richfield, Snyder County, she was a daughter of the late John S. and Sadie (Clotfelter) Renninger. Her husband Carl Raymond "Pop" Kuhns, whom she married Feb. 19, 1938, preceded her in death on March 6, 2000.
Surviving are sons, Larry E. Kuhns, Middleburg RR1, Leonard D. Kuhns and the Rev. Daryl M. Kuhn, both of Mount Pleasant Mills RR1, a brother and sister, Claude W. Renninger, Bloomsburg, Helen Ferster, Mount Pleasant Mills, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson Larry E. Kuhns on April 24, 1976, and three brothers, Arthur, Monroe and Delbert Renninger.
She was educated at Gordon's grammar schoolhouse in Snyder County.
She was employed as head cook for ten years at Perry-West-Perry Elementary School, Mount Pleasant Mills RR1, and earlier in life worked at the Richfield Shirt Factory, Richfield.
She was a charter member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Mount Pleasant Mills RR1.
She was a mother and homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family, and she enjoyed growing violets and gardening.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Mount Pleasant Mills RR1, with former pastor the Rev. Barry J. Arnold officiating. Interment will be in Daniel's-St. Thomas Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills RR2.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the church.

Randy E. Kuhns
Born June 15, 1961, in Lewistown, he was the son of Richard B. Kuhns of 50 Broad St., Milroy and the late Beverly C. (Bubb) Kuhns, who died Jan. 10, 1999. His wife, Tina Marie (Smith) Kuhns, whom he married Oct. 3, 1981, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Nathan A. Kuhns and Nicholl M. Kuhns, both at home; brothers and sister, Richard B. Kuhns Jr. and Scott Weston Kuhns, both of Lewistown, Dennis G. Kuhns and Mrs. David (Wanda) Sambenetti, both of Milroy.
He was a 1980 graduate of Kishacoquillas High School and a member of the American Legion in Milroy.
He was co-owner of All Woods II Kitchens, Milroy.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with the Rev. Douglas D. Sabin officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Frances R. Kulp
Born in Long Island City, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Fred and Lessie (Sherman) Myers. She was the wife of the late Rev. John W. Kulp who, from 1966-1978, was the pastor of Evangel Baptist Church, Lewistown.
Surviving are: children, John C. Kulp, Allentown, Mrs. John (Leslie A.) McDonnell, Yardley, and Mrs. Peter (Susan K.) Temple, Finchburg, Mass.; a brother, Jack A. Myers, Temecula, Calif.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Allentown, where she served as a former Sunday school teacher, choir member and deaconess. She served as prayer chairwoman of CBA and was a member of the Women's Missionary Fellowship.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 1808 N. 19th St., Allentown.
Friends may call from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Allentown, PA 18104.

William J. Lafty
Born Sept. 10, 1934, in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Albert and Gertrude (Jackson) Lafty. His wife, Judy L. (Newman) Lafty, died Dec. 25, 1993.
Surviving are: children, John M. Lafty and Dawn Fitzgerald, both of Philadelphia, Brian Lafty, Doylestown, and Shannon Lafty, McClure; two brothers, Howard Lafty, Bensalem, and Matthew Lafty, Philadelphia; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
He was a supervisor for Metal Supply in Philadelphia.
Services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no public viewing.

Mildred I. Laird
Born Oct. 25, 1921, in Claysburg, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Bessie Mae (Aurand) Bubb. Her husband, Paul E. Laird of 29 N. Queen St., McVeytown, survives.
Also surviving are: three children, Mrs. Carl (Gloria Jean) Ronk, McVeytown, Joyce Laird, Burnham and Paul E. Laird Jr., McVeytown; a brother and three sisters, Floyd S. Bubb, Fairless Hills, Beverly McWilliams, Havertown, Louise Rusmak, Yardley and Erma Romig, McClure; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Laird, on July 6, 1999.
She was a retired cafeteria employee in the Mifflin County School District and a member of the McVeytown Presbyterian Church.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown, with the Rev. Jeanette Rapp officiating.
The family will provide all funeral flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Ohesson Manor, 276 Green Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.
Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown is in charge of arrangements.
Nancy E. Laird
Born Nov. 10, 1953, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of Mildred (Bubb) and Paul E. Laird Sr. of McVeytown.
She is survived by sisters and brother, Mrs. Carl (Gloria Jean) Ronk and Paul E. Laird Jr., both of McVeytown, and Joyce Laird, Burnham.
She was a secretary for the Mifflin County School District for 28 years.
She was a 1971 graduate of Rothrock High School.
She was a member of the McVeytown Presbyterian Church and held various positions with MCESP of the Mifflin County School District.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jeanette E. Rapp officiating. Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Friday at the funeral home.

MOUNT PLEASANT MILLS - Carl Raymond "Pop" Kuhns, 72, of HCR 72, Mount Pleasant Mills, died Monday, March 6, 2000, after suffering a heart attack near his residence.
BAINBRIDGE - Donal B. "Pappy" Kuhns-Haines, 57, of 109 Falmouth Road, Bainbridge, died at 4:55 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, at his residence.
MOUNT PLEASANT MILLS - Luella M. Kuhns, 80, of Mount Pleasant Mills HCR72, Perry Township, died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday April 20, 2000 at the home of her son the REv. Daryl M. Kuhns, Mount Pleasant Mills RR1 after suffering failing health since September 1999.
MILROY - Randy E. Kuhns, 37, of 109 Broad St., Milroy, died at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 1999, on Locke Mills Road, Milroy, as a result of injuries sustained in an ATV accident.
ALLENTOWN - Frances R. Kulp, 75 of Allentown, formerly of Lewistown, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Salisbury Township, Allentown.
MCCLURE - William J. Lafty, 65, of 23 W. Railroad St., McClure, died at 5:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at his residence.
MCVEYTOWN - Mildred I. Laird, 77, of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home and fomerly of North Queen Street, McVeytown, died at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at the nursing home.
