Mary F. Lewis
MIFFLIN - Mary F. Lewis, 88, a resident of the Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC 67, Mifflin, formerly of Mifflintown RR3, died at 5:42 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 1999, at the Lewistown Hospital.

Born Oct. 5, 1910, in Milford Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Bessie E. (Nipple) Bossinger. Her husband, Albert R. Lewis, preceded her in death on July 3, 1991.

Surviving are: two sons, Donald L. Lewis, Mifflintown RR4, and Edgar A. Lewis, Port Royal; one daughter, Mrs. Robert E. (Judy K.) Snook, Mifflintown RR3; a sister, Margaret Crawford, Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC 67, Mifflin; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Bossinger, Leslie Bossinger and William Bossinger.

She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown, and its Sisterhood Sunday school class.

She retired as a seamstress from the Arrow Shirt Factory, Lewistown.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. William N. Esborn officiating. Interment will be in the St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery, Mifflintown RR3.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

R. Jay Lewis
CAMP HILL - R. Jay Lewis, 69, of Silver Spring Township, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.

Born July 27, 1930, in Burnham, he was a son of Ruth M. (Berkheiser) Lewis of Lewistown and the late William R. Lewis. His wife, Martha J. (Krist) Lewis, survives.

Also surviving are: children, L. Daniel Krist, Enola, Kerri J. Leedy, Mechanicsburg, Kimbra J. Keys, Harrisburg, and Kelley J. Leidig, Bethlehem; brothers and sister, Richard D. Lewis, Harrisburg, William R. Lewis, Largo, Fla., Warren L. Lewis, Marysville, and Jeanne Beaver, Burnham; and six grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He retired as a postal supervisor of the Camp Hill Post Office.

He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church; the Lowther Manor Lodge 781, F&AM, Camp Hill; Tall Cedars of Lebanon; the Harrisburg Consistory; Zembo Shrine, where he was Chief Usher and Circus Chairman; Cumberland County Shrine Club; and the VFW Post 6704, Mechanicsburg.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.

John F. "Jack" Liddick
BLOOMSBURG - John F. "Jack" Liddick, 66, of 593 W. Main St., Bloomsburg, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Williamsport Hospital.

Born Nov. 5, 1932, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late John P. and Dorthea (Henry) Liddick. His wife, Roxanna (Shirk) Liddick, survives.

Also surviving are: children, John P. Liddick, Philadelphia, Matthew S. Liddick, Bloomsburg, and Mrs. Gregory W. (Taunda L.) Snyder, Northumberland RR2; sisters, Beverly Forgy, Lewistown, and Norma Bloom, Pleasant Gap; and four grandchildren.

He was a 1950 graduate of Lewistown High School.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and served with the National Guard.

He was employed by Action Management Inc., Elysburg. Earlier, he was employed by Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was a sports enthusiast, especially enjoyed golfing, and was an avid Penn State fan. He enjoyed traveling.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury, and the Rolling Rock A.C.

Services will be held at 12 noon Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, Market and Fifth streets, Sunbury, with the Rev. Richard Fangamann officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family and the family will provide all flowers.

Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church.

Robert L. "Butch" Lingle Sr.
LEWISTOWN - Robert L. "Butch" Lingle Sr., 67, of 24 Lingle's Lane, Lewistown, died at 9:58 a.m. Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital.

Born Dec. 26, 1931, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Norman and Edna (Stuck) Lingle. His wife, Betty (Fisher) Rheam Lingle, whom he married in 1959, survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Robert L. Lingle Jr., Reedsville; step-children, Bonnie Young and Debra Rheam, both of Lewistown, and George Rheam, Reedsville; brothers and sister, David Lingle, N.C., Norm Lingle, Ohio, and Doris Gross, Lewistown; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was founder and past owner of Lingle's Distribution.

He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of VFW, Mifflintown; Lewistown Lodge No. 203; F&AM Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Moose Lodge No. 143; Elks Lodge No. 663; UCT and the American Legion.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m Wednesday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Charles Barner officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery.

Graveside military honors will be accorded by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.

Family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ruth E. Linn
LEWISTOWN - Ruth E. Linn, 77, of 4690 SR 103 North, Lewistown, died at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital.

Born June 11, 1922, in Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Robert C. and Bessie (Groninger) Barton. Her husband, Raymond W. Linn, died May 7, 1980.

Surviving are: sons, Robert A. Linn, Silsbee, Texas, and William G. Linn, 4690 SR 103 North, Lewistown; sisters and brothers, Josephine Crozier, Lewistown, Mrs. James Harold (Martha) Beatty and Paul Barton, both of Mifflintown, and Mrs. Harold (Jean) VanHorn, East Salem; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Esther VanHorn.

She was employed in the coning department of the American Viscose Corporation of FMC.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Raymond Brinson officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Friends may call from noon until the time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Henry E. Little
LEWISTOWN - Henry E. Little, 74, 100 Hillside Terrace, Lewistown, died at 8:44 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital.

Born Oct. 13, 1925, in Trade City, he was a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Hudsonrighter) Little. His wife, Mary (Specht) Little of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, whom he married Oct. 12, 1984, survives.

Also surviving are: stepchildren, Vicki Specht, Vira, John Parker Jr. and Donald Parker, both of Lewistown, and Andrew Parker, East Waterford; four step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Early in life, he worked for the railroad and later at Sitkin's Smelting.

He was a member of the Lewistown Moose Lodge 143.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

There will be no public viewing.

Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

Larry L. Lockett
LEWISTOWN - Larry L. Lockett, 58, of 2001 Back Maitland Road, Lewistown, died at 8:36 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital.

Born Sept. 28, 1941, in Derry Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of Lloyd W. Lockett of East Waterford and the late Gladys M. (Joseph) Lockett. His wife, Shirley (Felmlee) Lockett, whom he married June 17, 1961, survives.

Also surviving are; children, Mrs. Frederic (Brenda) Michalchik and Mrs. David (Sandra) DuBois, both of McClure, and Jodie Twoey, Phillipsburg; brother and sisters, Rick Lockett, McAlisterville, Mrs. John (Cecelia) Robinson, McClure, and Mrs. Gerald (Diane) Kratzer; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three infant children, Jeffery A., Timothy L. and Pamela S. Lockett.

Early in life, he was employed by the American Viscose, Fisher Brothers Bus Company, Lewistown Cabinet and Top Company and Felmlee Fishing Lure Company. He was also owner-operator of Lockett Industries (manufacturer and distributor of fishing lures) from 1968 to present.

He was a licensed minister for the Church of the Brethren, specializing in Evangelism in Central Pennsylvania. He was a member of Parkview Church of the Brethren, where he served on the deacon board, the ministerial board, the financial board, was assistant superintendent of Sunday school, and was on the Pastor Search Committee. He was a frequent speaker for the Evangel Elders at Evangel Baptist Church.

He also sponsored softball and Little League teams.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Harry Salyards and the Rev. Kenneth Wagner officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Church of the Brethren, RR1, Lewistown, PA 17044.

James E. Lofflin Jr.
LEWISTOWN - James E. Lofflin Jr., 73, of 1575 Middle Road, Lewistown, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at the home of his brother, John R. Lofflin, 16 Brooknar Drive, Reedsville.

Born Dec. 25, 1925, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Emma C. (Forsythe) and James E. Lofflin Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred (Dalby) Lofflin.

He is survived by a brother, John R. Lofflin, 16 Brooknar Drive, Reedsville.

He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theater.

He was a manager in the men's work clothing and men's furnishings department for Montgomery Wards for 35 years.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a life member of the City, Hook and Ladder Fire Co. and was a member of the Owls Club.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

There will be no public viewing.
