Born June 18, 1955, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of David W. Barker of 199 Honey Lane, Reedsville and the late Doris J. (Fultz) Barker, who died June 4, 1985. Her husband, Timothy S. Mendler, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Christy J. Mendler, Florida and Eric S. Mendler, at home; a sister, Mrs. Michael (Lucinda D.) Leeper, Milroy; and one grandchild.
She was recently employed at Uni-Mark Plastics.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Milroy Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, with Pastor Edward P. Fleming Sr. officiating. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Tuesday at the church.
The Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, is in charge of arrangements.
Samuel A. Mertz Jr.
Born Sept. 5, 1925, in Mexico, he was a son of the late Samuel and Vera (Hack) Mertz.
Surviving is a sister, Hilda Hack of Mifflintown RR1.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Mertz.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army Air Force.
He was a graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown.
He was retired from American Viscose Corp., Lewistown.
He was a member of the Mifflintown American Legion Post No. 298.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Douglas Kelley officiating. Interment will be in Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown RR2.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Margaret B. Mesick
Born July 30, 1915, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Burt B. and Glendora (Karschner) Bryant. Her husband, John V. Mesick, died July 3, 1988.
Surviving are: children, Bryant Mesick, State College, Mrs. Rex (Karen) Nygren, Belleville, and Howard M. Mesnick, Lewes, Del.; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Valley View Chapel, Belleville, with the Rev. Galen Sharp, the Rev. Harold Sharp and the Rev. Erie Renno officiating.
Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dallas.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Valley View Retirement Community, 4702 E. Main St., Belleville, PA 17004.

Zane L. Messerman
Born June 16, 1929, in Decatur Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Homer D. and Mary Grace (Spigelmyer) Messerman. His wife, Betty M. (Dobbins) Messerman, whom he married Oct. 3, 1953, survives.
Also surviving are: children, David W. Messerman, Dayton, Ohio, and Jan Marie Messerman, Belltown; brothers, Eugene Messerman, Everett, Melvin Messerman, Lewistown, and Robert Messerman, Belair, Md.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Early in life, he was employed by the Lewistown Foundry, and was self-employed in the upholstery business.
He was a member of the Beavertown Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
A memorial service was held Sunday, June 13, at Beavertown Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, with Mr. Paul Spigelmyer and Mr. Scott Sherwood officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice: The Bridge, 1126 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
Anthony F. Mestek Sr.
Born Nov. 24, 1922, in Oakmont, he was a son of the late Frank and Jennie (Martincic) Mestek. His wife of 51 years, Sarah (VanRyn) Mestek, survives.
Also surviving are sons, Anthony F. Mestek Jr. of McKees Rocks and Carl E. Mestek of Verona.
He graduated in 1940 from Yeagertown High School.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He retired from the former Union Specialty Steel Company in Verona.
He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Verona and the Verona SNPI Lodge.
Services were held at Burket-Truby Funeral Home Inc., 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont. Interment was in Mill Bank Cemetery, Fredonia.
Helen C. Metz
Born July 1, 1914, in Allensville, she was a daughter of the late Thomas C. and Virginia (Civitts) Metz.
Surviving are: brothers, Ralph Metz, 25 Old Orchard Lane, Allensville, and Mac Metz, 25 Bonnie Lane, Reedsville.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Samuel W. Metz and Harry M. Metz.
She was a secretary at U.S. Steel and New Holland Machine, and she retired from Swigart Associates, Huntingdon.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Allensville, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 40 years and was in the church choir. She volunteered for the American Red Cross bloodmobiles; was a past president of the Belleville Civic Club; served on the Antique Show Committee; and was a member in the Mifflin-Juniata Community Concert Association.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Allensville, with the Rev. Anna Ritter officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville.

Nelson L. Michael
Born May 24, 1921, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Fearon and Mary (Weidner) Michael. His wife, Frances (Daly) Michael, survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Michael P. Michael, Carlisle; a daughter, Mylene P. Michael, Mechanicsburg; twin brothers, Gene Michael, Lewistown, and Glen Michael, Pensacola, Fla; a sister, Romaine DeArment, Burnham; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mychelle P. Michael.
He retired from the United States Navy, a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
He was a former employee of Belvedere Medical Center, Carlisle.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle, where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, VFW Post 7343, American Legion 674, the Carlindian Chorus and past president of Mount Holly Springs Golden Age Club.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle, with the Rev. Jon A. Black officiating. Interment with full military honors will be conducted in Mount Holly Springs Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Gibson-Hollinger Funeral Home, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mount Holly Springs.

Andrew S. Miller
Born on Jan. 6, 1928, in Middlebury, Elkhart County, Indiana, he was a son of the late Sam A. and Betsy (Fry) Miller. His wife, Susie (Mast) Miller, whom he married on Dec. 2, 1948, in Dover, Del., survives.
Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Dan J. (Martha A.) Nissley, Calverton, Va., Marvin A. Miller, Mifflinburg RR2, Mervin A. Miller, Mifflinburg RR2, Mrs. Joe G. (Leatha A.) Detweiler, Mifflinburg RR2 and Mrs. David Y. (Thelma A.) Zook, Middleburg RR3; sisters and brothers, Mrs. Dan Y. (Sadie S.) Mast, Granton, Wis., Mrs. James (Clara A.) Thibodeau, Ellsworth, Maine, Mrs. Alvin W. (Esther S.) Miller, Catlett, Va., William S. Miller, Dover, Del., Sammie S. Miller, Dover, Del., Robert S. Miller, Catlett, Va., Johnnie S. Miller, McVeytown, Floyd S. Miller, New Castle, Va. and Raymond S. Miller, Catlett, Va.; 18 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ervin S. Miller.
He had been involved in agriculture in West Buffalo Township since 1968 until his retirement in 1997. Prior to that, he was engaged in agriculture in Fauquier County, Virginia and in Delaware.
He was a member of the Vicksburg Amish-Mennonite Church, Mifflinburg RR5, and has served as a bishop of the church since 1985.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday from the Vicksburg Amish-Mennonite Church, Strickler Road, Mifflinburg RR5, with Bishop Henry K. Fisher, David E. Esh and Reuben Esh, ministers of the Spring Garden Mennonite Church, Lancaster County, officiating.
Interment will be in the Vicksburg Amish-Mennonite Cemetery, Buffalo Township.
Friends will be received 2-7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
In keeping with the Amish-Mennonite tradition, flowers are to be omitted.
The James L. Schwartz Home for Funerals, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg is handling the funeral arrangements.

MIFFLINTOWN - Samuel A. Mertz Jr., 74, of the Zendt Nursing Home, Richfield, formerly of Mifflintown RR1, died at 3 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2000, at the nursing home.
BELLEVILLE - Margaret B. Mesick, 84, of Valley View Retirement Community, Belleville, died at 1:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 1999, at the home.
MCCLURE - Zane L. Messerman, 69, of 19 Zane's Lane, McClure, died at 2:35 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 1999, at his home.
VERONA - Anthony F. Mestek Sr., 77, of Verona, formerly of Yeagertown, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, in the emergency room at UPMC St. Margaret, Pittsburgh.
BELLEVILLE - Helen C. Metz, 85, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, formerly of Allensville, died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital.
MOUNT HOLLY SPRINGS - Nelson L. Michael, 77, of 106 Sunset Drive, Mount Holly Springs, died Monday, May 17, 1999, at Carlisle Hospital.
MIFFLINBURG - Bishop Andrew S. Miller, 71, of Buffalo Road, Mifflinburg RR2, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at his home. He had been in failing health for the past three months.
