Allen W. Osborne
THOMPSONTOWN - Allen W. Osborne, 76, of Benner's Trailer Court, Thompsontown, died at 2:58 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital.

Born May 23, 1923, in Lewistown, he was a son of Helen (Earnest) Hostetler of Thompsontown and the late Steven Hostetler. His wife, Virginia (Harry) Osborne, survives.

Also surviving are: daughters, Debra Franko, Harrisburg, and Mrs. Allen (Kathy) Mengel and Mrs. James (Melissa) Rosenberry, both of Lewistown; step-children, Kathy Hempstead, Carlisle, and Mrs. Richard (Lisa) Wileman and Norma Thompson, both of Loganton; a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Marie) Grove, Thompsontown; four grandchildren; and 12 step-grandchildren.

He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Kerry Aucker officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ralph W. "Bill" Osman
PORT ROYAL - Ralph W. "Bill" Osman, 82, of 602 W. Fourth St., Port Royal, died at 11:22 a.m. Monday, May 10, 1999, at Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC 67, Mifflin.

Born Jan. 8, 1917, in Valley View, he was a son of the late Anthony Wilson and Rebecca Susannah (Ressler) Osman. His wife, Mildred Lou (Slagle) Osman, 602 W. Fourth St., Port Royal, survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Robert A. Osman, Lewistown; brother and sisters, Donald Osman, Soca, Maine, Ellen Lebo, Dover, N.J., Emma Hepler, Pitman, Mrs. Joseph (Bernice) Vadyak, Lansford, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Shuman, Pottsville, and Marjorie Osman, Bethlehem; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

He was a 1934 graduate of Hegins Township High School, Hegins Valley.

He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was an employee of the former Rae-Sel Corporation, Port Royal, retiring after 20 years of service. He had also been very active with the Juniata County Republican Party and was a former Port Royal borough councilman.

He was a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee, secretary and janitor. He was a life member of Port Royal Ambulance Service, Friendship Fire Co., Port Royal, and was an ambulance attendant for many years. He was also a member of the Mechanics Lodge of Pa., Easton.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Port Royal United Methodist Church, Port Royal, with the Rev. Frank J. Swartz officiating. Interment will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. Military graveside services will be conducted by Juniata County Veterans Council.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church.

Diana Belle 'Dot' Page
BURNHAM - Diana Belle "Dot" Page, 88, of 225 Ninth Ave., Burnham, died at 2:49 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital.

Born April 28, 1911, in Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Mary E. (Page) Beward. Her husband, Richard B. Page, died Dec. 29, 1994.

Surviving are: children, Richard B. Page, 225 Ninth Ave., Burnham, Mrs. Charles (Janet) Rhodes, Shawnee Hills, Belleville, Mrs. George (Peggy) Archey, 1890 Back Maitland Road, Lewistown, Georgia M. Page, Sunbury, and William G. Page, 229 Eighth Ave., Burnham; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers, Chalmers L. Beward and George B. Beward.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church, Burnham, and the Philathea Sunday School Class of the church. She was also a member of Act II Retirees and United Methodist Women.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Walnut Street United Methodist Church, 203 N. Walnut St., Burnham, with the Rev. Larry K. Lutz officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham and from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Walnut Street United Methodist Church, 203 N. Walnut St., Burnham, PA 17009.

Mary Elizabeth Sophia (McCardle) Page
OAKDALE - Mary Elizabeth Sophia (McCardle) Page, 81, of 39 New York Road, Oakdale, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at her home.

Born June 28, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Mrs. Tressie (Orr) McCardle. Her husband, George A. Page, preceded her in death.

Surviving are: a daughter, Donna Cupp, Oakdale; step-daughter, Helen Crossgrove, Mainland; sisters, Maxine Fink, Lewistown, and Donna White, Redding; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Catherine Rhine, Archella Breon and Patricia Hawley; and one brother, Peter McCardle.

She enjoyed arts and crafts as well as bingo at the Senior Center.

Services will be held at 1 p.m Sunday at the Montville Funeral Home of Church and Allen, Route 32, Uncasville.

Shirley M. (Wert) Paige
VINELAND, N.J. - Shirley M. (Wert) Paige, 63, of Vineland, N.J., died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, after a lengthy illness.

Born April 30, 1936, in Port Royal, she was a daughter of Helen L. Wert and the late Jonathan M. Wert Sr. Her husband of 47 years, Jasper W. Paige, survives.

Also surviving are: children: Christina Purcell and Patricia Curcio, both of Vineland, N.J., Jasper W. Paige Jr., Schwenksville, and Rodney Paige, Aston; sister, Nancy Taylor, Mifflintown RR5; brothers, Jonathan M. Wert Jr., James Wert, Charles Wert and Donald Wert, all of Port Royal; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, David Wert.

Services were held in Vineland, where she had lived for the last 25 years. The Rev. James Doran officiated at the services. Interment was in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville, N.J.

Memorial contributions may be made to South Vineland Methodist Church, P.O. Box 2323, South Vineland, N.J. 08360, in care of the Church Women's Ministry or Sunday School.

Beulah T. Palm
MCCOYSVILLE - Beulah T. Palm, 82, of HCR 67, Mifflin, died at 8:51 a.m. Monday at Lewistown Hospital.

Born Dec. 22, 1916, in McCoysville, she was a daughter of the late Fred P. and Jewette (Owens) Palm. Her husband, Daniel Palm, preceded her in death.

Surviving are: children, Fredrick O. Palm, East Waterford RR1, Donald A. Palm and Margaret "Joy" Palm, both of McCoysville, Ruth Ann Noss, Mount Holly Springs, and Nettie Hoffman, Shade Gap; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a step-great-granddaugther.

She was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and a grandson.

She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy, McCoysville.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, with the Rev. William Luckadoo officiating. Interment will be in McCoysville Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dorothy A. Palm
HONEY GROVE - Dorothy A. Palm, 79, of Honey Grove RR1, died at 7:20 p.m., Friday, June 4, 1999, at the Lewistown Hospital.

Born March 25, 1920, in Spruce Hill Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late John Delbert and Ida Belle (Gilson) Bryner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ritter W. Palm, who died January 23, 1994.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two infant daughters and she was the last of her immediate family having been preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Jane Bryner and Florence Marie Bryner and one brother, William James Bryner Sr.

She was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith.

She was a member of the East Waterford Fire and Ambulance Co.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Dennis Thompson officiating. Interment will be in McCoysville Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, PO Box 551, Lewistown, PA 17044, or to the East Waterford Fire Co., East Waterford, PA 17021.

Eugene B. Palm
MATTAWANA - Eugene B. Palm, 83, of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn and formerly of Mattawana, died at 2:19 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at the nursing center.

Born May 19, 1916, in McCoysville, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Emory and Adalaid (Arnold) Palm. His wife, Claudine (Gates) Palm, whom he married Jan. 26, 1948, survives

Also surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Janet Burkey, Lewistown, Mrs. Larry (Carol) Stroup, Belleville, and Mrs. Park (Claudia) Myers Jr., Mattawana; a son, Clinton E. Palm, McVeytown RR; a half-sister, Kathryn Dupert, Mifflin RR; 10 grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester Palm and Norman Palm.

He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 80th Division Infantry in the European Theatre.

He was a police officer for 12 years in Lewistown and Hanover; he then owned and operated his own truck for 24 years, retiring in 1977, from Mason-Dixon Lines Inc.

He was a member of McVeytown Presbyterian Church, the AARP, Blue Ridge Lodge No. 45 Fraternal Order of Police and Mattawana Rod and Gun Club.

He enjoyed raising beef cattle and was an avid hunter. He also enjoyed football and NASCAR fan.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Jeanette Rapp officiating. Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 101 Howard Ave., Bldg. D, Suite 101, Altoona, PA 16601 or the American Lung Association of Central PA, 205 E. Beaver Ave., State College, PA 16801.
