Milfred L. Portzline Sr.
MOUNT PLEASANT MILLS - Milfred L. Portzline Sr., 71, of Mount Pleasant Mill RR2, Perry Township, died at 5:46 p.m. Friday, May 14, 1999, at his residence.
Born May 4, 1928 in Mount Pleasant Mills RR2, Snyder County, he was the son of the late Thomas A. and Sarah Agnes (Maneval) Portzline. His wife, Dorothy E. (Hawk) Portzline, whom he married Dec. 19, 1965, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Milfred L. Portzline Jr., Mount Pleasant Mill RR2, Mrs. Jeffrey A. (Dawn A.) Camp Sr., McClure RR2, and Barbara A. Kerstetter, Royal ton, Ill.; a brother, Alfred R. Portzline, Mount Pleasant Mills RR2; sisters, Mary Portzline, Thompsontown, Verna Bingaman, Middleburg, and Gladys Roush, Mount Pleasant Mills RR1; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Clair Portzline, George Portzline, Sarah Try, Margaret Yetter, Beulah Portzline, and Nora Yetter.
He was educated at the Pleasant View Grammar schoolhouse, Perry Township, Snyder County.
On Oct. 23, 1950, he was inducted into the U. S. Army and served as a sergeant in the infantry division during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged from active duty on July 23, 1952 and honorably discharged from the Army Reserves on Aug. 2, 1956.
He was employed as a laborer at Wood Mode Industries, Inc., Kreamer for 23 years, retiring in 1990. He then drove school bus for the Midd-West school district for 4 years and delivered school buses for the Wolfington Body Company, New Buffalo, Pa.
He was Lutheran by faith and was a member of the American Legion Post 364 and its Home Association, Liverpool.
He enjoyed hunting , fishing and boating.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Mills, with the Rev. Lear E. Shambach officiating. Interment will be in Arbogast's Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills RR2, where full military honors will be given by the Liverpool American Legion, Post 364.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

N. LaRue Powell
LEWISTOWN - N. LaRue Powell, 85, of 201 Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown, died at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn.
Born Nov. 25, 1913, in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Anna May (Mowery) DeArment. Her husband, Harold E. Powell Sr., whom she married May 17, 1941, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Harold E. Powell Jr., Mifflintown, and Sharon M. Ream, 400 Princeton St., Lewistown; brother, Donald E. DeArment, Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
She was a homemaker. Early in life, she was employed at the American Viscose Corporation and later as a waitress at the New Way Restaurant, Lewistown.
She was a member of Grove Memorial United Methodist Church.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. William J. Danis officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Thelma R. Powell
LEWISTOWN - Thelma R. Powell, 69, of 389 Strodes Run Road, Lewistown, died at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 2, 1999, at her son's residence at 532 Woodland Ave., Lewistown.
Born Oct. 11, 1930, in Mount Union, she was the daughter of the late C. Norman and Luella (Hayes) Knable. Her husband, Lewis G. Powell Sr., died Nov. 3, 1969.
Surviving are: children, Charles R. Glunt, Maryland, Ronald W. Glunt, Orlando, Fla, Terri Lea Price, Orbisonia, Lewis G. Powell, Mifflintown, Troy M. Powell, Burnham, Arlene L. Gordon, Gary D. Powell, Brenda C. Hoover, Kenneth N. Powell, Todd M. Powell, and Jinx A. Wilson, all of Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Lillian Flasher and Gary Brumbaugh, both of Mount Union, Jacqueline Coyler and Dale Lane, both of Shade Gap, Max Hayes, Atkinson Mills, Tony Lane, Three Springs, Ross Lane, Chambersburg, Winfred Lane, Kistler, Timothy Lane and Winifred Lane, both of McVeytown, and Susan Gehrett, Mill Creek; and 14 grandchildren.
Early in life, she worked for the Alert Shoe Factory, Milroy and then as an audio tester at Fisher Electronics.
She was a member of the Lewistown Church of the Brethren, Shaw Avenue, Lewistown, and the ladies auxiliaries of the VFW Post 7011, the Lewistown Moose Lodge, and the American Legion Post 90.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Douglas Sherlock officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Alma A. Price
LEWISTOWN - Alma A. Price, 87, of William Penn Nursing Home, Lewistown, formerly of Newton Hamilton, died at 3:25 a.m. Friday, May 7, 1999, at the William Penn Nursing Home.
Born March 24, 1912, in Trough Creek, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late David S. and Mary S. (Hazzard) Grager. Her husband, Walter M. Price, whom she married June 28, 1927, preceded her in death on April 30, 1960.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Elizabeth) Vaughan, McVeytown; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by: two infant daughters, Dorothy W. Price and Linda L. Price, and brothers and sisters, Rash A. Grager, Ellen Taylor, Irene Cowan, Wilda Grager, William Grager and Iva Kauffman.
She had been employed for many years by a number of professional and business people in the Mount Union area as a domestic housekeeper.
She attended the Brethren Church in Latta Grove in her early years and later attended Newton Hamilton Methodist Church.
She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Newton-Wayne Fire Company.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Jerry Wise officiating.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Mountainview Cemetery, Mill Creek.

Hilda May 'Girl' Price
MOUNT PLEASANT MILLS - Hilda May "Girl" Price, 71, of Mount Pleasant Mills RR1, died at 8:55 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at Polyclinic Medical Center, Harrisburg.
Born April 30, 1928, in Liverpool RR1, she was a daughter of Della (Seasholtz) Kerstetter of Mount Pleasant Mills RR1 and the late Theodore Kerstetter. Her husband, Jay Price, whom she married Oct. 2, 1946, survives.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and five foster children.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Kerstetter, in 1993.
She was educated at the Locust Grove Grammar schoolhouse in Perry County.
She had been employed as a seasonal worker for a canning factory in McAlisterville; at Furman's Cannery in Northumberland; in the housekeeping department at the Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove; and at the Biffburger Restaurant in Hummel's Wharf.
She was a member of Arbogast Lutheran Church, Mount Pleasant Mills RR2.
She loved animals, hunting, fishing, gardening and raising flowers, especially roses.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday a George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Mills, with the Rev. Celo V. Leitzel officiating. Interment will be in Arbogast Lutheran Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills RR2.
Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Robert M. Price
LEWISTOWN - Robert M. Price, 46, of 40 W. Spanogle Ave., Lewistown, died 3:00 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2000, at his home.
Born Dec. 17, 1953, in Lewistown, he was a son of Anna (Baumgardner) Price, Lewistown, and the late Eugene Price.
Surviving are: children, Leigh Price and Heather Price, both of Lewistown, Todd Price, Logan Street, Lewistown, and Andrew Price, Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Mrs. William (Connie) Stuter of Reedsville, Mrs. Ed (Jean) Zampelli, Carol Dupert, James Price and John Price, all of Lewistown.
He was a construction worker with various area companies.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Robert E. Iddings officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Timothy D. Quinn
REEDSVILLE - Timothy D. Quinn, 26, of 7804 US Highway 522 South, McVeytown, died at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999, at his parents' home.
Born July 10, 1973, in Lewistown, he was a son of Dr. Philip L. and Constance L. (Shirey) Quinn of 92 Fawn Road, Reedsville.
He is survived by maternal grandparents, Harry A. and Norma (Shatzer) Shirey, 317 Shaw Ave., Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Mary Louise Murray, Jamestown, N.Y., Philip L. Quinn, Pleasant Gap, Michael T. Quinn, Salem, Va., John P. Quinn, Danville, Calif., and Susan L. Quinn, Milroy.
He was a 1991 graduate of Indian Valley High School and a 1993 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Technology.
He was employed by Wireless Spectrum Towers, Allentown, in cellular tower construction.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas Marickovic officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
There will be no public viewing.

Mary Martha Radle
BELLEVILLE - Mary Martha Radle, 77, a resident of Valley View Haven, Belleville, and formerly of 125 W. Shirley St., Mount Union, died at 1:35 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2000, at Valley View Haven.
Born Feb. 22, 1923, in Mifflintown, she was a daughter of the late Samuel David and Stella (Shoemaker) Zeiders. Her husband, Fredric N. Radle, whom she married June 14, 1947, in Mifflintown, died Sept. 29, 1974.
Surviving are: children, David T. Radle, Mount Union, Janice Radle, Wichita, Kan., and Judith Hauck, Enola; a brother, Dr. Samuel David Zeiders II, Mifflintown; and six grandchildren.
She was a 1940 graduate of Juniata High School and a 1944 graduate of Juniata College, where she received her bachelor of science degree in education.
She worked for 21 years as a home economics teacher in the Mount Union Area High School and as a teacher for the Huntingdon County Extension Office.
She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Mount Union, and was past president of the church council.
She was also a member and past president of the Ladies Golf Association at the Mount Union American Legion Country Club and a former member of the Ladies Bridge Club. She also volunteered at the voting booths during election time.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Peter Naschke officiating. Interment will be in Mount Union Cemetery.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Friday at the funeral home.
