Eleanor Rager
LEWISTOWN - Eleanor Rager, 75, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, formerly of 235 Freedom Ave., Burnham, died at 10:52 p.m. Monday, June 28, 1999, at the nursing home.

Born Jan. 1, 1924, in Decatur Township, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Bertha (Schilling) Romig. Her husband, Ralph Rager, died in 1973.

Surviving are: children, Jerry A. Rager, 37 Rager Lane, McClure, and Mrs. Terry (Sue) Bubb, 574 Summit Road, McClure; a nephew whom she raised, Kenneth Swartzell, Reedsville; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Romig.

She was a seamstress and had worked at Arrow Shirt Factory and McClure Shirt Factory.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the A.C.T.W. Union Retirees.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Third and North Main Streets, Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald A. Krum officiating. Interment will be in Wagner Cemetery, McClure.

There will be no public viewing.

Family will provide all funeral flowers, but memorial contributions may be made to: St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret G. Rager
LEWISTOWN - Margaret G. Rager, 94, a resident of Ohesson Manor, Lewistown, formerly of 407 Electric Ave., Lewistown, died at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at the manor.

Born April 17, 1905, in Yeagertown, she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Elizabeth (Baker) Swanger. Her husband, Maxwell R. Rager, died Sept. 6, 1957.

Surviving are: sons, Maxwell R. Rager Jr., Lewistown and Donald E. Rager Sr., Hummelstown; sister, Mrs. John (Anna) Goddard, Third Street, Pleasant Acres, Lewistown; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, George Edward Rager; two grandsons; and one granddaughter.

She retired as a supervisor in the cake converting department of the American Viscose in 1968, after 40 years of service.

She was a member of the Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Helping Hands class of the Sunday school and a former Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Avisco 25 Year Club, the Mother's Club, the Pensioner's Club, a former volunteer at the Lewistown Hospital gift shop, and the W.S.C.S.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Thomas B. Morningstar officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ellsworth Junior Ramsey
YEAGERTOWN - Ellsworth Junior Ramsey, 75, of 305 Pinewood Road, Yeagertown, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2000, at his residence.

Born Sept. 16, 1924, in Mifflintown, he was a son of the late Ellsworth and Bessie May (Whidler) Ramsey. His wife, Emma M. (Walters) Harris Ramsey, whom he married Jan. 1 1985, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Patsy Hoar, McVeytown, Sandra Booher, Ruth Taylor, and Wanda Peffer, all of Lewistown; stepchildren, Thomas Harris and Norma Shearer, both of Lewistown, Pamela Moyer, Reedsville, Kathy Fisher, Milroy, Mabel Fairbanks, Burnham, Joseph B. Davis Jr., Glenwood, Nancy Wilt, McClure, Steve Davis and Leroy Davis, both of Delaware; brothers and sisters, Bertha Wert, Port Royal, Mary Jane Smith, Janet Swartz, Donald Ramsey, and Gary Ramsey, all of Mifflintown; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 26 step-grandchildren and 34 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond R. Ramsey and a stepdaughter, Betty Farleman.

He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.

He retired from Standard Steel, Burnham with 31 years of service.

He had been a member of the Arch Rock Methodist Church and was a member of the Yeagertown Fire Company, the Milroy American Legion and the Lewistown VFW.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with Maj. Herbert B. Hamilton and the Rev. Thomas B. Morningstar officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, Mifflin-Juniata Unit, 112 N. Wayne St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Warren L. Ranck Sr.
THOMPSONTOWN - Warren L. Ranck Sr., 80, of Thompsontown RR1 died at 9:50 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital.

Born Oct. 6, 1919, in Port Royal, he was a son of the late Ross W. and Emma M. (Bowers) Ranck. His wife, Loretta M. (George) Ranck of Thompsontown RR1, whom he married Feb. 13, 1947, survives.

Also surviving are: three sons and six daughters, Warren L. Ranck Jr., Mexico, Harold E. Ranck, Mexico, Steven L. Ranck, Mifflintown RR2, Mrs. Daniel (Brenda) Kepler, McAlisterville RR1, Diane Fry, Mexico, Mrs. Jay (Doris) Mingle, Thompsontown RR1, Mrs. Michael (Sherry) Wagner, Thompsontown RR1, Mrs. Ronald (Linda) Wagner, Mifflintown RR2 and Mrs. Norman (Laurie) Gray, Port Royal RR2; two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Esther) Long, Fairless Hills, and Mrs. Harry (Queenie) Dreese, HCR67, Mifflin; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

He was a retired lineman, having worked for Pennsylvania Power and Light Company.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Tuscarora Church of the Brethren, Port Royal RR2.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Thompsontown Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joe Samples officiating. Interment will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal.

Melissa A. Imes Rardin
DISCOVERY BAY, Calif. - Melissa A. Imes Rardin, 27, of 5650 Edgeview Drive, Discovery Bay, Calif., formerly of Port Royal, died of natural causes, Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Sutter Delta Medical Center, Antioch, Calif.

Born April 30, 1971, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of David L. and Judy K. (Myers) Imes of Port Royal. She is survived by her husband, David R. Rardin, of 5650 Edgeview Drive, Discovery Bay, Calif.

Also surviving are: brothers and sister, Bryan D. Imes and Gregory C. Imes, both of Port Royal, and Sherry Gehers, New Bloomfield; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a 1989 graduate of Juniata High School, Bloomsburg University with a B.A. degree, and Southern Illinois University with a master's degree in opera and musical theater.

She was an administrative assistant for Jobs Plus at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

She was Juniata County Dairy Princess. She was also the president of Mu Phi Epsilon, Southern Illinois; band treasurer, a member of the Music Educators National Conference, and concert choir president of Bloomsburg University. She received the Service Key Student Leadership Award and was awarded the Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.

She loved music and sang in many church choirs and she enjoyed traveling.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the New Life Assembly of God Church, Industrial Park Road, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Harold N. Imes and the Rev. Jack O. Twombly officiating. Interment will be in the Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

Family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until the time of the services Thursday at the church.

Minnie E. Steele Reed
MCVEYTOWN - Minnie E. Steele Reed, 83, of 7720 Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown, died at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital.

Born June 17, 1916, in Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Jacob E. and Adda (Morse) Steele. Her husband, Archie T. Reed, died April 26, 1987.

Surviving are: children, Alice L. Solt, Spring Mills RR1, Mrs. Stanley (Shirley) Mowery, 7683 Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown, Betty L. Plummer, Beaver Springs RR1, Mrs. Dean (Anna Mary) Wakefield, Milroy, and Thomas A. Reed, Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown; a brother, Eugene Steele, Hopewell; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Poorman, a grandson, a great-granddaughter, two brothers and a sister.

She was a homemaker and, earlier in life, had been employed by the American Viscose Corporation.

She was a member of Parkview Church of the Brethren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Donald Peters officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jeffrey Allen Reeder
MAPLETON DEPOT - Jeffrey Allen Reeder, 41, of Mapleton Depot RR1, died at 7:21 a.m. Sunday, May 21, 2000, at Kimball County Hospital, Kimball, Neb. He was on the job as a truckdriver, became ill and died unexpectedly.

Born Aug. 16, 1958, in Huntingdon, he was a son of Jimmy A. and Audrey J. (Miller) Reeder Sr. of Mapleton Depot RR1.

Also surviving are: a sister and brother, Beth Ann Greenland, Wells Tannery HC2, and Jimmy A. Reeder Jr., Mapleton RR1; and paternal grandfather, Herbert A. Ryan, Mount Union RR3.

He was a 1976 graduate of Southern Huntingdon High School.

He had worked for the Weis Market in Mount Union for two years and then transferred to the Mifflintown store, where he was produce manager. After several years, he went to work for Noerr Trucking and then, in 1990, as a coast-to-coast truckdriver for Zimmerman Truck Lines, Mifflintown, his current employer.

He was a member of Bowman Chapel Methodist Church, Mapleton RR1.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling and loved motorcycles and cars.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Ed Seeley officiating. Interment will be in Bowman's Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton RR1.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

Donald L. Reese
LEWISTOWN - Donald L. Reese, 71, of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown, formerly of The Coleman House, Lewistown, died at 5:19 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2000, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital.

He was born May 18, 1928, in Reading.

He was store manager of Royce Shoes in Burnham and was last employed at Wilkes Barre Rehabilitation Center.

He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Lewistown, where he was a former choir and counsel member. He was also a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lewistown, and former treasurer of the Resident's Association of The Coleman House.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn in the Juniata Lounge, with the Rev. Dean Bobb officiating.

Committal service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Locust Grove Mennonite Cemetery, Belleville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 20 Oak St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville, is in charge of arrangements.
