Born Nov. 10, 1913, in Trenton, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Rose Losciale. Her husband, Anthony Scafidi, preceded her in death in 1985.
Surviving are: son, Ross L. Scafidi, Lewistown; a daughter, Toni Marie Goble, Calif.; a brother, William Losciale, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.
She was a housewife and a member of Evangel Baptist Church, Lewistown.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Rock Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Gregory Tyree officiating.
There will be no public viewing.
Barr Funeral Home, Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
Erla M. Scanlan
Born in McAlisterville, she was a daugther of the late Lloyd S. and Blanche A. (Frymoyer) Hummel. Her husband, Edward F. Scanlan Jr., preceded her in death.
Surviving are: children, Dennis J. Scanlan, Pennsville, N.J., Denise C. Wright, Buckeystown, Md., and Erlene F. Scaberry, Cape May, N.J.; brothers and sister, Wilmer H. Hummel, McClure, Clair R. Hummel, Lewistown, and Jeretta G. George, Pennsville, N.J.; seven grandsons and one granddaughter.
She was a homemaker and a saleswoman for Avon for 25 years.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Adams Funeral Home, 18 Maple Ave., Penns Grove, N.J. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Kathryn L. 'Kack' Schaeffer
Born Dec. 20, 1936, in Strodes Mills, Granville Township, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Vera (Heckman) Goss. Her husband, Carl L. Schaeffer, whom she married Oct. 29, 1952, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Douglas K. Schaeffer Sr., Burnham, Carl L. Schaeffer Jr. and Ronni G. Schaeffer, both of Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Ethel Swigart, Georgia, Mrs. Joseph (Tressie) Sunderland, McVeytown, Dorothy Leach and Elrose Goss, both of Lewistown, Ralph Goss, Burnham, and Donald Goss, Strodes Mills; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Elsie Davidheiser, Bertha Eisenhuth, Mabel Wilson, and Doris Wert.
She was a homemaker and earlier in life had worked for the American Viscose Corporation and Empire Kosher.
She was a member of the Pleasant Acres Assembly of God Church, and the choir of the church.
She enjoyed camping at Idle Acres Campground, McVeytown.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Pleasant Acres Assembly of God Church, Sixth Street and Summit Drive, Lewistown, with the Rev. Evan Iacoboni officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the services Sunday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Pleasant Acres Assembly of God Church, Sixth Street and Summit Drive, Lewistown, PA 17044.
The Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
Grace Marie Scheffer
Born March 6, 1940, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ruth Dickson. Her husband, William Scheffer, whom she married in Feb. 1960 in Williamsport, Md., survives.
Also surviving are: children, William E. Scheffer, St. Thomas, Mrs. James (Deborah) Smith, Plainfield, and John E. Scheffer, Greencastle; brothers, Robert Sweitzer, Lewistown, and William Hoyer, Mifflintown; stepsister, Nancy White, Orbisonia; and four grandchildren.
She was employed as a notary public and issuing agent for Pennsylvania members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association of Everett and the Camp Cadet Motor Cycle Committee.
For 17 years she served as national secretary for the Independent Truckers Association and as state coordinator for Pennsylvania Independent Truckers Association. She was editor of the Independent Truckers Association newsletter for 14 states.
For 12 years she served as a den mother for a Boy Scout Troop in Breezewood.
She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Women's Bowling Association, the Pennsylvania Association of Notaries, and, along with her husband, was a sponsor of the Breezewood Truck Stop Santa Clause for the last 22 years.
She was Protestant by faith.
Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Dalla Valle Funeral Chapel, Main Street, Everett, with the Rev. Bruce Maxwell officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Family will receive friends from 3 p.m until the time of services Friday at the funeral home.
Ethel M. Schell
Born April 27, 1921, in Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Hazel (Watts) and David R. Depew Sr. Her husband, Robert Lee "Bob" Schell, whom she married June 28, 1939, died Dec. 18, 1995.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. William K. (Jean S.) Bonta, Phoenix, Md.; a brother, Glenn L. Depew, Mifflintown RR1; sisters, Helen D. Frey, Beaver Springs, and Mrs. John "Jack" (Joann) Hack, Danville; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Ray Depew, David Depew Jr., twins Lloyd Depew and Boyd Depew, and, in childhood, Chester Depew.
She graduated in 1939 from Juniata Joint high School, Mifflintown.
She worked in the family business, The R.L. Schell Feed and Grain Mill, Mount Pleasant Mills, owned by her husband, until the business was sold in 1964. She then did seamstress work out of her home until the time of her death.
She was a member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Shamokin Dam, where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and the Women of the ELCA.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking pies, gardening and tending plants, especially African violets.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Wayne C. Muthler officiating. Interment will be in Goodwill Cemetery, McAlisterville RR1.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Mills, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.

Evelyn M. 'Ev' Schell
Born Jan. 25, 1920, in Turbett Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Monroe L. and Vesta V. (Kepner) Swartz. Her husband, John E. Schell, died Jan. 17, 1993.
Surviving are: two sons, Dr. Dennis E. Schell, Glen Burnie, Md., and Rodney A. Schell, Richfield RR1; a brother, Warren Swartz, Richfield RR1; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Swartz.
She attended Watts Grammar School, Fogle Hill, and graduated in 1939 from Liverpool High School.
She had lived in Newport from 1948 to 1957, when she moved to Cocolamus and opened Schell's Restaurant, which she operated until 1967. Prior to that, she had been a waitress for the Harrisburg Hotel and a seamstress for Richfield Shirt Factory for four years.
She was a member of Good News Lutheran Brethren Church, McAlisterville, and the McAlisterville Senior Citizens Center.
She enjoyed quilting, sewing, attending yard sales and making hoagies.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with the Rev. Stephen A. Kovac officiating. Interment will be in Goodwill Cemetery, McAlisterville RR1.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 7-9 p.m.

Nancy E. Schellenberg
Born May 6, 1928, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late William and Louise (Reed) Milliken. Her husband, Frank E. Schellenberg of 106 Highland Ave., Lewistown, whom she married March 15, 1955, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Mrs. John (Louisa) Shawver, State College and Edward R. Schellenberg, Lewistown; stepson, Frank C. Schellenberg, Lewistown; brother and sisters, Herbert Milliken, Fairfax, Va., Jane Fulkroad, Columbia Station, Ohio, and Mrs. Raymond (Iva) Cowan, Granville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Guy Milliken, William Milliken, and Dorothy Snook.
She worked in housekeeping at the Lewistown Hospital for 23 years, retiring in 1990.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Thursday at the funeral home.

Brice L. Schilling Jr.
Born Oct. 6, 1922, in Reedsville, he was a son of the late Eva Naomi (Ferguson) and Brice L. Shilling Sr. His wife, Dorine (Treaster) Schilling, whom he married Sept. 14, 1947, survives.
Also surviving are sister and brother, Mrs. Eugene (Betty) Orner, Reedsville, and James L. Shilling Sr., Reedsville.
He was a 1940 graduate of Reedsville High School.
He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army Airborne Division during World War II.
He had worked for Standard Steel, Burnham for 20 years and retired from Burlington Northern Railroad with 18 years of service.
He was a member of Reedsville Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher for more than 20 years and was on the church council. He was also a member of Free & Accepted Mason Lodge 203, Lewistown and the Harrisburg Consistory.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Reedsville Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Rosalie N. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, where a masonic service will be held at 8:30 p.m.
