Born June 13, 1961, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of Norman B. and Anita (Richardson) Thatcher, East Waterford. Her husband, David E. Shetron, survives.
Also surviving are: sons, David A. Shetron and Jason K. Shetron, both at home; a sister, Gloria Ann Thatcher; and maternal grandmother, Nellie Fogleman, East Waterford.
She was preceded in death by two infant children, John C. Thatcher and Diana Erin Shetron; and a sister, Carolyn Sue Thatcher.
She was a 1979 graduate of Juniata High School, Mifflintown.
She was very active in the deaf community, having interpreted for numerous organizations and functions including Mexico United Methodist Church and the Mount Union Elementary School.
She was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Registered Interpreters for the Deaf, and a former member of the Advisory Board for the Center of Independent Living, Camp Hill.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove RR1, with Pastor Dennis R. Thompson Jr. officiating. Interment will be in East Waterford Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, 500 Swissvale Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15218-1469.
The Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove is in charge of arrangements.
H. Arlene Shields
Born May 17, 1909, in Shirley Township, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Jennie (Ryder) Garver. Her husband, Fred K. Shields, died July 18, 1952.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Jayne) Book, Port Royal RR3; a sister, Helen B. Garver, Mount Union RR; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Anna Garver and Mabel Garver.
She was a 1927 graduate of Mount Union High School.
She was a retired seamstress having worked for Thompsontown Industries, Thompsontown.
She was a member of the Free Spring Church of the Brethren, Mifflintown RR2.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rex Funeral Home, 308 Market St., Port Royal, with Pastor Terry G. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Germany Valley Cemetery, Shirley Township, Huntingdon County.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Patricia M. Shilling
Born March 28, 1930, in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Shotzberger) Bradley.
Surviving are: children, C.W. "Bill" Shilling Jr., Savannah, Ohio, Mary Louise Shilling, Burnham, Donald B. Shilling, Moundsville, W. Va., Larry F. Shilling, Kelso, Tenn. and Mrs. Keith (Patti) Spiering, Greensboro, Md.; brothers and sisters, John L. "Jack" Bradley Jr., Mrs. James (Dorothy) Kahley, Anna Ferguson, and Mrs. Mark (Debbie) Steele, all of Burnham, Mrs. James (Carol) McVey, Juniata Terrace, Lewistown, Mrs. Thomas (Nancy) Decker, Camp Hill, Joseph A. Bradley, Martin L. "Marty" Bradley, and Keith R. Bradley, all of Lewistown; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Early in life, she worked for Scotty's Fashions and Tony's Cottage Inn and later in food preparation at Golden Corral.
She was a member of the Burnham Church of the Brethren, the Women's Fellowship group of the church, the church choir, and the Mifflin County Foster Parents Association. She was also a charter member of Burnham High School Alumni Association.
A memorial celebration will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Burnham Church of the Brethren, 541 E. Freedom Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Wayne W. Mast officiating. There will be no viewing at the church, but family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services Friday. Interment will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Birch Hill Cemetery, Burnham.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham.

Ruth J. Shillingsford
Born Dec. 29, 1918, in Tuscarora Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Robert E. and Anna Mae (Arnold) Pannebaker. Her husband, Ray S. "Dutch" Shillingsford, died Oct. 5, 1969.
Surviving are: a daughter, Shirley L. Willow, Royersford; a sister, Esther Swartz, Port Royal; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert R. "Himey" Shillingsford, on Nov. 29, 1997; and brother and sisters, Frank Pannebaker, Mabel Coder, Betty Pannebaker, Frances Bell, and Hazel Shehan.
She retired as a cashier from the IGA Foodliner, Mifflintown, with 21 years of service.
She was a life member of Fayette Fire Co. and a member of Millerstown Moose Lodge 925.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Donald C. Walters officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Anna B. Shimp
Born June 22, 1909, in Longfellow, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Margaret (Grassmyer) Zimmerman. Her husband, Robert R. Shimp Sr., died March 14, 1972.
Surviving are a son, Robert R. Shimp Jr., 86 Scenic Drive, Lewistown; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers.
She was a homemaker and worked for the American Viscose Corporation for 44 years, retiring in 1972.
She was a member of Lake Park United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lake Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Raymond T. Brinson officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Lind Memorial Cemetery.
There will be no public viewing, but family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services Sunday at the church.

Anna O. Shingler
Born April 13, 1918, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late E. W. and Esther E. (Schmidt) Pennebaker. Her husband, Frank L. Shingler, died July 18, 1977.
Surviving are: a son, John E. Shingler, 465 Alfarata Road, Lewistown; brothers, Russell Pennebaker, State College and Blaine Pennebaker, Levittown; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Shining Star Sunday school class, the Decatur Fire Co. ladies auxiliary, and the ACTWU 385 Retirees. She was also a leader of the Alfarata Homemakers, the Alfarata 4-H Club, and a volunteer for the Area Agency on Aging.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Clyde B. Singh officiating. Interment will be in the Alfarata Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Helen Jane Shingler
Born Dec. 8, 1933, in Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Alton and Ethel (Collins) Swartz. Her husband, John A. Shingler, whom she married in Crosswick, N.J., in 1963, survives.
Also surviving are: sons, Glenn Burdge, Chambersburg, Kenneth Burdge, Las Vegas, Nev., and Michael Shingler, Quantico, Va.; step-daughters, Cindy Green, York, and Patricia Lamire, Massachusetts; brother and sisters, Kenneth E. Swartz, Mifflintown, Mrs. Richard (Mary) Eaton, Mrs. Richard (Alice) Price and Mrs. Samuel (Kay) Cummings, all of Port Royal, and Nora Lou Blessing, Waynesboro ; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rhoda Stake and Laura Ruth Warner.
She was a homemaker and a member of the AARP.
She was Protestant by faith.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. George Buddy Baird officiating.
Interment will be in Mountainview Cemetery, Mill Creek.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service today at the funeral home.
Gilbert S. 'Gib' Shirey
Born June 20, 1913, in Derry Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Lester L. and Mary (Klose) Shirey. His wife, Cora (Wagner) Shirey, whom he married May 6, 1934, survives.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Norma) Fisher, 33 Woodbine Road, Lewistown; brother and sister, Leonard L. Shirey and Mrs. William (Kathryn) Stumpff, both of Lewistown RR3; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John K. Shirey.
He was employed for 34 years by the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in November 1973.
He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church; a charter member and past president of Chief Logan Lions Club; past district 14-L governor and was the first recipient in Mifflin County of the Melvin Jones Award; a charter member of Northeast Eye Bank; and a member of Lewistown Lodge 203 F&AM and numerous other masonic bodies.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald A. Krum officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where masonic services will be held at 8:30 p.m.
Family will provide all flowers.
