LEWISTOWN - Sarah Rebecca Berlin, 80, of 646 Electric Ave., Lewistown, died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at her home.
Born on March 14, 1919 in Cleveland, OH, she was the daughter of the late Max and Lena (Saltzman) Ostrofsky. Her husband, Dr. Harry S. Berlin, whom she married on March 3, 1946, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Victor N. Berlin of Reston, Va., Marlene Berlin of Washington, D.C. and Vivian Berlin of Boston, Mass.; sisters, Miriam "Babe" Putter of New Jersey, Ida Sanders of Sacramento, Calif. and Julie Levine of Florida; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Saxon.
A graduate of Mt. Sinai School of Nursing, New York, NY, she was a registered nurse and served as head nurse in the obstetrics department at Mather Memorial Hospital, Suffolk County, Long Island, NY. She later became business manager for her husband's dental practice.
A long-time resident of the Juniata Valley, she was active in community affairs throughout her life.
She was a member of the Ohev Sholom Synagogue, Hadassah, and the Synagogue Auxiliary.
She also served on the Board of Directors of Shelter Services Inc. and the Mifflin-Juniata Community Concert Association, of which she had also served as president.
She had also been active with the Mifflin-Juniata United Way, Lewistown Music Study Club, Nuclear Freeze Group, Human Resource Council, Unity Coalition, Wayne Street School PTA, Women's Civic Club in MIfflintown and Mifflin County Roundtable of Christians and Jews.
She organized the first kindergarten in Mifflintown, which was later incorporated into the public school system.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Rabbi Jonathon Brown officiating.
Interment will be in Ohev Sholom Cemetery, Lewistown.
RICHFIELD - Stanley H. "Todd" Berrier Sr., 92, of the Zendt Home, Richfield, and formerly of HC-67, Mifflin, died at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2000, at the nursing home.
Born April 20, 1908, in Lack Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late John S. and Minnie P. (Cruthers) Berrier. His wife, LaRue E. Berrier, preceded him in death on May 19, 1986.
Surviving are: five sons, Raymond Berrier, Waynesboro, John Berrier, Mifflin, Donald Berrier, HC-67, Mifflin, Stanley H. Berrier Jr., HC-67, Mifflin, and Barry Berrier, Port Royal RR2; seven daughters, Vivian Fry, Port Royal RR2, Virginia Paden, HC-67, Mifflin, Delores Shearer, Loysville, Mary Sieber, Liverpool, Bonnie Bumgardner, Oriental, Shelby Trego, Mifflintown RR2, and Melodie Berrier, Mifflintown; one sister, Christina Roles, Newport; 34 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, John Berrier, Paul Berrier, Brent Berrier and Herb Berrier; and three sisters, Ida Hampton, Madeline Berry and Katherine Smith.
He retired in 1971 as an aid at Selinsgrove State School.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Donald W. "Saint" Prye officiating. Interment will be in Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown RR4.
Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
LEWISTOWN - Elmer H. "Dick" Berryman, 99, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown, died at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, June 20, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born Dec. 26, 1899, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late John L. and Rebecca J. (Rhodes) Berryman. His wife, Marian I. (Aumiller) Shotzberger Berryman, preceded him in death.
Surviving are: a son, Robert H. Berryman, State College; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant great-grandson, Brandon Weaver; two brothers; and three sisters.
He was owner-operator of Berryman's Grocery and Berryman's Bus Line. Later, he was employed at Clark's Hardware, Lewistown, Mann Edge Tool, Lewistown, and was former caretaker of the First Methodist Cemeteries.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard and the First United Methodist Church, Lewistown. He was also a life member of the Lewistown Elks Lodge 663, the Mifflin County Sportsmen's Association, the United Commercial Travelers, Lewistown, and the Lewistown Moose Lodge 143.
He started the first Boy Scout Troop in Lewistown.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown, with the Rev. Ronald Hoffman officiating.
There will be no public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Third St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

MIFFLIN - Ronald E. "Tink" Beward, 45, of Foster Street, Mifflin, died of natural causes, at 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at his home.
Born June 16, 1954, in Lewistown, he was the son of Margaret "Peg" (Shirk) Beward and the late Donald E. Beward Sr.
Also surviving are: two brothers, Donald E. Beward Jr., Mifflintown RR3 and Johnny Lee Beward, Mifflintown RR1; five nephews and one niece.
He was a participant at the Skills Adult Training Facility, Mifflintown.
He was a member of the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, Mifflintown; the Association of Retarded Citizens, Juniata County; and a life member of the Mifflin Fire Company.
He enjoyed fishing and collecting Jeff Gordon items.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. William N. Esborn officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

LEWISTOWN- Catherine A. Bigelow, 90, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, formerly of 319 Terrace Blvd., Lewistown, died at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born April 24, 1909, in Morrisdale, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Louise (Smeal) Baxter. Her husband, George W. Bigelow, died in 1970.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Betty J.) Fish, Lewistown; a sister, Delphia L. Bulick, Middletown; one granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Dorsey Baxter.
She was a homemaker and was accomplished in crocheting and baking.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown, with Mr. Robert Miller officiating.
There will be no public viewing.

BELLEVILLE - Glenn E. Bigelow, 73, of 52 N. Penn St., Belleville, died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at the Lewistown Hospital.
Born May 12, 1926, in Belleville, he was the son of the late David Clay and Beulah M. (Henninger) Bigelow. His wife, Beverly (Stuter) Bigelow, whom he married Oct. 28, 1950, survives.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Darlington (Gwendolyn) Hornberger, Belleville; a brother, Charles Bigelow, Belleville; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Herbert, Paul, David, John, and Donald Bigelow; sisters, Athalia Bubb and Ruth Koons; and twin grandsons.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He retired after working as a barber for 50 years and he also worked as the Union Township tax collector for 20 years.
He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, the church choir, church council and other church committees. He was also a member of the McVeytown Lodge F& AM, No. 376; the Stroup-Alexander VFW Post No. 5935, Belleville; the Belle Green Camp; and a former member of the Union Township Fire Police.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. John Lutheran Church, Belleville, with the Rev. Lois Martin and Rev. Rosalie N. Smith officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville.
Friends may call from 6:30-9 p.m. today at the Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville.
Family will provide the flowers.

BELLEVILLE - Laverda J. Bigelow, 81, of 399 Walnut St., Belleville, died at 6:24 a.m. Friday, April 9, 1999, at her home.
Born Jan. 8, 1918, in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late Frank E. and Zella (Zook) Yoder. Her husband, David C. Bigelow, died Oct. 9, 1978.
Surviving are: children, Mrs. Buddy (Helen) Krepps, Belleville RR, Thomas C. Bigelow, Belleville, Mrs. Larry (Carol) Treaster and Mrs. Ralph (Sharon) Fisher, both of Lewistown, and Mrs. Harold (Faith) Hassinger, Lynn M. Bigelow and Keith P. Bigelow, all of Milroy; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Glenn (Ruth) Conrad, Mrs. Patrick (Mildred) Reese, Franklin E. Yoder and Samuel H. Yoder, all of Duncansville; 22 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary David Bigelow, on Nov. 4, 1944, and by a sister, Claire Reed.
She was a rural mail carrier for 20 years and a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the Augsburg Sunday School Class, the WELCA, and St. John's Knotters. She had been a Sunday School teacher and attended Bible study.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. John Lutheran Church, Belleville, with the Rev. Lois Martin officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9:30-11 a.m. today at the church.

BELLEVILLE - Ruth L. Bigelow, 82, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, died at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Valley View Haven.
Born Jan. 14, 1917, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Lester W. and Mable (Heeter) Steininger. Her husband, Charles "Chid" Bigelow of Valley View Haven, whom she married June 25, 1937, survives.
Also surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Charles (Linda) Corbin and Mrs. Glenn D. (Ann) Peachey, both of Belleville; a sister, Mrs. Robert L. (Phyllis) Ziegler, Reedsville; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. James (Ann) Grove; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
She was a homemaker and she began the answering service in Belleville in 1962.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Lois Martin officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the church.
