Rodney A. Bishop
MCCLURE - Rodney A. Bishop, 76, of McClure, died at 2:04 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at his home.
Born March 26, 1923, in McClure, he was the son of the late Albert H. and Mabel R. (Hockenbrock) Bishop. His wife, Alverta "Louise" (Edmiston) Bishop, whom he married Sept. 14, 1946, died April 4, 1997.
Surviving are: a son, Rodney A. Bishop Jr., Boonsboro, Md.; sister and brothers, Jeanette Robison, Simi Valley, Calif., Park Bishop, Deland, Fla., Ivan "Ike" Bishop and Warren "Lindy" Bishop, both of McClure; three granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Emeline Brininger.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1985, after 20 years of service as a rural letter carrier. He had also been employed by Noerr's Garage, Lewistown as a mechanic.
He was a member of the Mt. Bethel UCC Church, McClure, where he participated in the Men's Sunday School Class, was a Sunday school teacher, was a Sunday school superintendent, and held various church council positions. He was also a member of the West Snyder Lions Club, American Legion Post 942, McClure, Heiser-Hoffman VFW, Paxtonville, and Association of Rural Mail Carrier.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mt. Bethel United Church of Christ Church, McClure, with the Rev. Donald Wise officiating. Interment will be in the McClure Union Cemetery, where graveside military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 942, McClure.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. (with family present from 7-9 p.m.) Tuesday at the McClure Chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes Inc., North Brown Street, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the church.

Frank Lewis Bixler Sr.
LIVERPOOL - Frank L. Bixler Sr., 76, of Liverpool RR2, Buffalo Township, Perry County, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, in Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg after suffering a massive stroke in December 1999.
Born Sept. 22, 1923, in Millerstown, he was the son of the late Harry E. and Harriet (Knepp) Bixler. His wife, Doris Jean (Wright) Bixler,whom he married July 27, 1947, preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 1999.
Surviving are: two sons, Frank L. Bixler Jr., Carlisle and Kirk A. Bixler, Liverpool RR2; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Karen) Hoover, York, Mrs. David (Janet) Sideck, Camp Hill and Deborah J. Rush, Dover, PA; two sisters, Ruth Campbell, York and Helen Glatfelter, York; eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
He retired on Jan. 4, 1980, from the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot after 30 years of service as a quality assurance specialist.
He attended the Blessed Hope Bible Church, Liverpool RR2 and was a member of the Liverpool American Legion Post 364
A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946, and was boatswain's mate-second class, earning the Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle East Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Medal.
He graduated in 1941 from the McVeytown-Oliver High School, McVeytown.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter.
The funeral service is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Blessed Hope Bible Church, Liverpool RR2, with the Rev. Lou N. Mancari officiating. Interment, with military honors by the Liverpool American Legion Post 364, will be in Hunter's Valley Cemetery, Liverpool RR2.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m Tuesday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, 606 N. Front St., Liverpool and from 10 a.m. until the funeral service Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, c/o Citadel Corp., 1122 Green St., Harrisburg, PA 17110 (or the donor's local county unit) or to the Arthritis Foundation, 17 S. 19th St., Camp Hill, PA 17011.

Bernice Madelene Black
ORBISONIA - Bernice Madelene Black, 87, of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, died at 2:15 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2000, at the center.
Born July 13, 1912, in Waterfall, she was a daughter of the late John and Flossie (Knepper) Shaw. Her husband, Albert J. Black, whom she married Oct. 10, 1934, died Nov. 24, 1985.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Nancy) Stidfole, Lewistown; brothers, Harold Shaw, McConnellsburg and Amos Shaw, Hustontown; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was a homemaker and attended Orbisonia United Methodist Church.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with Pastor Rick Eminhizer officiating. Interment will be in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Friday at the funeral home.

John N. Blandford
DALLAS - John N. Blandford, 68, of Dallas, Luzerne County, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes Barre.
Born June 8, 1931, in Kingston, he was a son of Helen (Shain) Blandford, Kingston and the late John J. Blandford. His wife, Deborah (Hackenberg) Blandford, survives.
Also surviving are: children, John N. Blandford Jr., Stamford, Conn., Jenny Loht, Lewistown, and Jason Blandford, at home; sister, Pat Kennedy, Leesport; and five grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He had been employed in management by the Woolworth Co., Philadelphia, Bowman's Department Store in Harrisburg and Sunbury, and Danks Department Store, Lewistown. He then worked for 18 years as a sales representative for the Ivystone Group of Philadelphia.
He was a member of the Trucksville United Methodist Church and served as a deacon in the Lutheran Church, Lewistown at one time. He was also involved in the Kiwanis, Rotary, and the Masons.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Trucksville United Methodist Church, Church Road, Trucksville, with the Rev. W. Charles Naugle officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Boy Scout Troop 281, c/o Dallas United Methodist Church, 4 Parsonage St., Dallas, PA 18612 or to the Trucksville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 40 Knob Hill, Trucksville, Pa 18708.

Frank B. Blatt
MOUNT UNION - Frank B. Blatt, 65, of 6 W. Walnut St., Mount Union, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at his home.
Born Jan. 24, 1934, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Wallace Q. Blatt Sr. and Florence H. (Gould) Blatt. His wife, Imogene (Beatty) Blatt, whom he married on July 5, 1952, at the Nazarene church parsonage in Orbisonia, survives.
Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wallace Q. Blatt Jr.
He graduated from Mount Union Area High School in 1951.
He was a member of the Germany Valley Church of the Brethren, Shirleysburg RR1. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local No. 20, Toledo, Ohio, the F&AM Lodge 688, Mount Union, the Scottish Rite Consistory of Harrisburg, the Standing Stone Royal Arch Chapter 201, Huntingdon, the Jaffa Temple AAONMS of Altoona and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Valley Forest No. 88.
He was also a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 143, Lewistown, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Association, Blue Ridge Lodge No. 45, Lewistown, the Bricktown Senior Citizens, Mount Union and a life member of the Mount Union Area High School Alumni Association.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Raymond Hill and the Rev. Ernest Dell officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Union Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home Friday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Germany Valley Church of the Brethren building fund, C/O Shirley Pollock, RR1 Box 12, Shirleysburg, PA 17260.

Marjorie D. Blatt
LEWISTOWN - Marjorie D. Blatt, 84, of 28 Logan St., Lewistown, died at 4:40 a.m. Monday, June 7, 1999, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Sept. 5, 1914, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Anna (Hoffman) Carodiskey. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Dodd and her second husband, Wallace Blatt.
Surviving are: a son, William D. Dodd, 30 Logan St., Lewistown; a sister, Dorothy Dunion, Logan Street, Lewistown; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, and a grandson.
She retired from Mellon Bank bookkeeping department.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and and a life member of the Fame Fire Co.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald Krum officiating. Interment will be private.
There will be no public viewing.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Richard A. Blazer Sr.
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - Richard A. Blazer Sr., 70, of Hollywood, Fla., formerly of Lewistown, died Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, in Hollywood.
Born June 25, 1929, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late John and Florence (Clemens) Blazer. His wife, Diane (Dalton) Blazer, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Richard A. Blazer Jr., Cooper City, Fla., Dwayne D. Blazer and Dawn B. Collier, both of Hollywood, Fla., and Dorraine M. Guedj, Miramar, Fla.; a sister, Joyce Bottorff, Lewistown; and 12 grandchildren.
He was a journeyman for a power and light company.
He was a 33rd Degree Master Mason and a member of Masonic Lodge 253 of West Broward, Fla. and the I.B.E.W. No. 759 of Broward County.
Masonic and funeral services will be held at 12 noon today at the Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 6301 Taft St., Hollywood, Fla. Interment will be in Hollywood Memorial Gardens.

Mary E. Bleacher
LEWISTOWN - Mary E. Bleacher, 76, of 208 1/2 N. Grand St., Lewistown, died at 2 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Oct. 10, 1923, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Jesse (Maben) and Arthur H. Kling Sr. Her husband, Guy Bleacher, died in 1992.
Surviving are: stepchildren, Mrs. Chester (Blanche) Corrigan, Lancaster, and Frank Bleacher, Palmyra; a sister, Josephine Setzler, Lewistown; stepbrothers and stepsisters, Joseph Kling and George Kling, both of Lewistown, Mildred Fortney, Mechanicsburg, Mrs. Harry (Edith) Yocum Sr., Reedsville, and Jacob Kling, Shippensburg; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Hopkins; a brother, Arthur Kling Jr.; and one stepsister, Hazel Kling.
She worked for Armstrong Flooring & Hubley Manufacturing, Lancaster.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Paul Fleming officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Chestnut Level.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home.
