Blaine C. Blessing
LEWISTOWN - Blaine C. Blessing, 88, of 116 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, died at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Green Avenue, Lewistown.
Born July 9, 1911, in Dauphin County, he was a son of the late Elizabeth (Sawyer) and Harry S. Blessing Sr. His wife, Mary L. (Bramm) Blessing, whom he married April 20, 1935, survives.
Also surviving are: a son, John B. Blessing, McVeytown; brother and sister, George S. Blessing, Landisburg RR2, and Genevieve E. Blessing, North Fort Myers, Fla.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lou Wolfe, in 1994; five brothers and three sisters.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theatre.
He was employed in the engineering department of the American Viscose Corp., Lewistown, for 44 years, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewistown, where he had taught Sunday school; served five terms on the church council; and was an usher, a member of the Ich Dein Sunday School Class and a member of the Chancel Choir for 40 years.
He was also a member of SPEBSQSA (Society for the Preservation and Enjoyment of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America), a life member of VFW Post 7011, Lewistown, and American Legion Post 90, Lewistown.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald A. Krum officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown.
There will be no public viewing but family will receive friends from noon until the time of the services Friday in the church parlor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Improvement Fund, St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth M. Boaz
BELLEVILLE - Elizabeth M. Boaz, 87, a resident of Valley View Haven, 4702 E. Main St., Belleville, and formerly of Kish Apartments, died at 5:40 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at Valley View.
Born July 17, 1912, in Newport, she was a daughter of Samuel F. and Iva A. (Turbett) Stence. Her husband, Merrill G. Boaz, died Sept. 23, 1995.
Surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Anna) Sechrist, 3873 Route 522 South, McVeytown, Mrs. Marshall (Irene) Ritchey, 77 Pleasant View Road, McVeytown, and Mrs. Robert (Mildred) Miller, 2480 Route 103, Lewistown; brother and sisters, Raymond Stence, Reedsville, Mrs. John (Odessa) Frazier, Belle Vernon, Mrs. Luther (Geraldine) Rogers, Lewistown, and Mrs. John (Vivian) Harper, Edgewood, Fla.; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Calvary Bible Church.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Roger R. Reece officiating. Interment will be held at Juniata Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Samuel H. 'Sam' Bollinger
MIFFLIN - Sam H. "Sam" Bollinger, 75, of HC-67 Mifflin, died at 2 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 1999, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Sept. 14, 1923, in Reeds Gap, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Dallas S. and Dorothy (Adams) Bollinger. His wife, Myrtle (Page) Bollinger, whom he married Dec. 24, 1948, survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Donald H. Bollinger, Port Royal RR2; a sister, Helen I. Wileman, Elizabethtown; and three grandchildren.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre.
He retired in 1987 from John E. Groninger Inc., Mexico, Pa.
He was Full Gospel by faith.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Lewistown, with the Rev. A. W. Paige officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal RR2.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Russell E. Bollman Jr.
LEWISTOWN - Russell E. Bollman Jr., 75, of 310 Valley St., Lewistown, died at 11:38 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital.
Born Sept. 16, 1924, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Russell Bollman and the late Bessie (MacElwee) Freeman. His wife, Nancy (Slick) Bollman, whom he married Sept. 16, 1943, survives.
Also surviving are: sons, Joseph E. Bollman, Lewistown and James B. Bollman, Berkley Springs, W. Va.; brother, Joseph W. Bollman, Long Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Sherman.
He was employed in the dietary department of the Lewistown Hospital, retiring in August of 1987.
He was a life member of the City, Hook, and Ladder Fire Co. and a member of the Central District Volunteer Fireman's Association.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Dean M. Bobb officiating. Interment will be in Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Trinity United Church of Christ, 20 Oak St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Justin K. Swarey
FLEETWOOD - Justin K. Swarey, 8, of 148 Knittle Road, Greenwich Township, Berks County, Pa., died at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2000 at Hershey Medical Center. He had been transported there from Belleville, Mifflin County where he was involved in a drowning accident at a pond.
Born on Sept. 1, 1991 in Fleetwood, he was a son of Jonathan H. and Elmina B. (Peachey) Swarey, who survive.
Also surviving are: two brothers, Roger W. and DaVern J. Swarey, both at home; two sisters, Benita L. (Swarey) Ensz, Faunsdale, Ala. and Rosetta J. Swarey, at home; maternal grandmother, Naomi S. (Kanagy) Peachey, Belleville; and paternal grandmother, Elsie M. (Byler) Swarey, Kutztown.
He attended the Fleetwood Christian School.
He was a member of the Church of God in Christ-Mennonite, Fleetwood.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of God in Christ-Mennonite, 1077 N. Richmond Road, Fleetwood. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Mae A. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 117 West Main St., Fleetwood, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary L. Swarey
BELLEVILLE - Mary L. Swarey, 92, of 2674 Front Mountain Road, Belleville, died at 2:05 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 1999, at her residence.
Born Dec. 5, 1906, in Allensville, she was the daughter of Ezra B. and Katie J. (Peachey) Renno. Her husband, Samuel Swarey, died May 25, 1971.
Surviving are: children, Ezra B. Swarey, Beaver, Ohio, Jacob S. Swarey, Rosebud, Mich., Mrs. Menno (Mary) Kanagy, Jersey Shore, Pa., Urie D. Swarey, Catherine M. Swarey, Mrs. Kore (Sarah M.) Kanagy, and Mrs. Kore M. (Anna) Yoder, all of Belleville; 55 grandchildren; 192 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by a son, Jesse E. Swarey, one sister, and two brothers.
She was a member of the Old Order Amish.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the David B. Swarey residence in Belleville, with ministers David C. Swarey and Shem Swarey officiating. Interment will be in the Allensville Amish Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at her residence at 2674 Front Mountain Road, Belleville.
Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, is in charge of arrangements.

Richard F. 'Pete' Swarmer
LEWISTOWN - Richard F. "Pete" Swarmer, 71, of 125 Betty Circle, Reedsville, formerly of Ferguson Valley, Lewistown, died at 10:55 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown.
Born March 6, 1929, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Charles and Rose (Kearns) Cavanaugh Swarmer. His wife, Joan (Moyle) Swarmer of 125 Betty Circle, Reedsville, whom he married in April 1947, survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Steven C. Swarmer, 125 Betty Circle, Reedsville; a sister, Ida Penepacker, Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown; half-brothers and half-sisters, Charles Cavanaugh, McVeytown, Shirley Watson, Bellefonte and Audrey Beers, Strodes Mills.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Swarmer, and half-brothers, Lester, Boyd and Merle Cavanaugh.
He was the owner and operator of a trucking company.
He was a professional race car driver and six-time Port Royal Speedway Champion, and was the first driver inducted into the Port Royal Speedway Hall of Fame.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
There will be no public viewing.
Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown is in charge of arrangements.

Bertha M. Swartz
BELLEVILLE - Bertha M. Swartz, 94, a resident of Valley View Haven, Belleville, formerly of 220 W. Fifth St., Lewistown, died at 8:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at Valley View Haven.
Born Oct. 3, 1905, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late John F. and Lydia Anne (Matter) Kratzer. Her husband, Harry A. Swartz, died in 1979.
Surviving are: children, Mrs. Al (Phyllis) Derr, Lancaster, and the Rev. Karl A. Swartz, Jamestown, N.Y.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.
In early life, she was employed by American Viscose Corporation.
She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewistown; the Missionary Society; the WELCA Council of Church Women; an active member of the Dames of Malta; and a charter member of the Central Pennsylvania Ladies Band.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald A. Krum officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
