Gilbert James 'Woody' Wood
Born Aug. 10, 1922, in Kerrmoor, Clearfield County, he was a son of the late Clark Edward and Sarah (Young) Wood. His wife of 52 years, Freeda G. (Barrett) Wood, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Kenneth D. Wood, West Columbia, S.C., Ronald T. Wood, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Susan J. Fitzmaurice, Madison, Tenn., and Barbara A. Hands, Brunswick, Maine; brothers and sister, Woodrow Wood, Middlefield, Ohio, Edward Wood, Grampian, Gordon Wood, Curwensville, June Barrett, Slate Hill, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert J. Wood; two sisters, Mae Freyer and Mildred Rich; and three brothers, Cleo Wood, Ward Wood and Oklay Wood.
He was a graduate of Clearfield High School and attended trade school in Lewistown, where he was educated as an electrician.
He was also a Boy Scout leader in Lewistown.
He served as a Boatswain's Mate, Second Class, in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
He was a charter member of Berkeley Baptist Church and New Hope Baptist Church, both in Berkeley Springs, W. Va. He was also a member of the American Legion in Charleston, W. Va.
In 1991, he retired after 38 years of service as an Electrical Supervisor with U.S. Silica in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Berkeley Baptist Church, Winchester Grade Road, Berkeley Springs, W. Va., with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Klingler officiating. Interment will be in William Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown, at 1 p.m. Friday.
Friends may call from 3-9 p.m. today at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va., where family will be present from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Baptist Chapel, 315 Independence St., Berkeley Springs, WV 25411, or to Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.
Mary E. Wooding
Born Oct. 10, 1912, in Port Royal, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Pearl (Sanders) Moyer. Her husband, Park Wooding, died in 1967.
Surviving are: children, Jerry Wooding, Mass., Jane Brodie, Pittsburgh, and Lucy Miller, Washington Boro, Pa.; sisters, Peg Bilman, Herndon, Pa., and Martha Compton, Michigan; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Early in life, she was a music teacher and later a kindergarten teacher, both with the Mifflin County School District.
She was a member of McVeytown Presbyterian Church, and the Retired Teachers' Association.
Services will be at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Jeanette E. Rapp officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
There will be no viewing.

Margaret M. "Margie" Woods
Born May 8, 1931, in Centre Hall, she was a daughter of the late Garman A. and Renna M. (Heckman) Matter. Her husband, Reynolds M. Woods Sr., whom she married June 17, 1953, survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Rennie M. Woods Jr., McVeytown; a sister, Kathryn M. Schultz, Virginia; brothers, Richard H. Matter, State College, and Donald E. Matter, Centre Hall; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She preceded in death one brother, Robert Matter, who died at noon the same day.
She was a graduate of Potter High School, Centre Hall.
She retired from Bell Atlantic in 1989 after 39 years of service.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lewistown, and the Augsburg Sunday school class. She was a member and past president of Ladies Auxiliary Association of the Lewistown Commandery Knights of Templar No. 26, and of the Capital Seven Mountains Telephone Pioneers. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 283, serving from 1999 to 2000 as Worthy Matron.
Services will be held today at St. John's Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald Krum officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
Family will receive friends from 10-10:45 a.m. today at the church.

Virginia F. Woods
Born Jan. 11, 1921, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Dana and Jeanette (Flasher) Snyder. Her husband, Robert F. Woods, died in 1980.
Surviving are: children, Joan Malcolm, Ocean City, NJ, Robert L. Woods, Lewistown, Charles R. Woods, Altoona, and Donavan R. Woods, South Grand Street, Lewistown; a sister, Gloria Sowers, Columbus, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lewistown.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Mifflin-Juniata Special Needs Center, 401 Yale St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
The Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
Ethel N. Woodward
Born March 5, 1911, in Mt. Jackson, Va., she was a daughter of the late Montgomery and Ida (Witmer) Click. Her first husband, George Berry, died Dec. 22, 1941, and her second husband, Rex Woodward, died Dec. 29, 1967.
Surviving are: a son; Robert G. Berry, Honey Grove RR1; daughters, Mary Romig, Mifflintown, Lois Bates, Manheim, Mae Fullerton, Sunbury, and Ruth Erb, Beavertown RR1; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
She was a member of the McCoysville Presbyterian Church and the East Waterford Senior Citizens Center.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at theHenry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, with the Rev. Frank Muse officiating. Interment will be in McCullochs Mills Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Ruth E. Woodward
Born July 2, 1916, in East Peoria, Ill, she was a daughter of the late Lemuel K. Condon and Alice G. (Ames) Condon. She was preceded in death by her companion, Pietro DeRuzzo, on July 21, 1992.
Surviving are: two sons and three daughters, W. James Woodward of Spring Lack, NC, David R. Woodward and Jane E. Boor, both of Linden, NC, Alice A. Hostler of Port Royal and Mrs. Robert (Frances) Wilson of Lock Haven; three sisters, Mary H. Myers of Perry Village, New Bloomfield, Kathryn F. Condron of Wesleyville and Anna G. Nash of Erie; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five infant children, one sister and one brother.
She was a saleslady for Gimbels Department Store in New York City and a 1937 graduate of Renovo High School, Renovo.
She attended St. Jude's Catholic Church, Mifflintown.
The funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family, with Deacon John A. Rocco officiating.
There will be no viewing.

Michael G. Woomer
Born March 19, 1945, in Lewistown, he was a son of Clifford B. Woomer Jr. of Dawson Springs, Ky., and the late Freda (Casner) George. His wife, Della (Evans) Woomer, survives.
Also surviving are: stepmother, Emma Woomer, Dawson Springs, Ky.; children, Michael G. Woomer, Lewistown, Jeffrey A. Woomer, Wilmington, Del., Lammisa G. Stanislow, Hartly, Del., and Christina B. Woomer, Smyrna, Del.; brothers, Christopher W. Woomer, Marietta, Ga., Patrick Woomer, Gansedort, N.Y., and David Woomer, Lewistown; sisters, Debra Slay, Granite City, Ill., Mary Jane Woomer, Wyo., Teresa Gross and Carol Butler, both of Lewistown; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford A. Woomer III.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He retired in 1995 after 20 years of service as a correctional officer at the Delaware Correctional Center near Smyrna, Del. He previously worked as a police officer for the Smyrna-Clayton Police for 10 years.
He enjoyed photography and fishing.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Victory Chapel, 2736 Forrest Ave. (Del. 8), Dover, Del. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover, Del.
Friends may call from noon until the time of services Wednesday at the chapel.

Harley A. Worthington
Born Oct. 13, 1917, in Watrous, he was a son of Amos and Bessie (Hurlburt) Worthington. His wife, Eunice (Clark) Worthington, whom he married May 3, 1937, in Painted Post, N.Y., died March 27, 1998.
Surviving are: children, Lyle T. Worthington, West Clarksville, N.Y., Harold S. Worthington, Portville, N.Y., Robert A. Worthington, Cuba, N.Y., William D. Worthington, Shinglehouse, Patricia M. Worthington, Doris A. Schoonover, Mrs. Donald (Connie) Sikes, John R. Worthington and Mrs. John (Diane D.) Harvey Jr., all of Eldred, and Audrey L. (Forrest) Sweitzer, Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Richard Worthington, Xenia, Ohio, Donald Worthington, Fla., Betty Walters, Fassett, and Mrs. Dave (Eva) Austin, Gillette; several nieces and nephews; 37 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis A. Worthington; three sisters, Ruth Worthington, Margaret Campbell and Madalyn Worthington.
He was a 1929 graudate of Watrous Country School.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
For many years before his retirement, he was employed as an over the road truck driver.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Portville, N.Y., American Legion.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mowing his lawn and being with his family.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, with the Rev. Randall W. Headley, pastor of the Ceres United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Lick Run Cemetery, Gaines.
Family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Friday at funeral home.
Military honors will be accorded Friday at the funeral home by members of the Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530 and the Potter County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the charity of one's choice.
