HARTLETON - Karen J. Yoder, 46, of Hartley House, Hartleton, died of natural causes, at 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born Sept. 15, 1953, in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Samuel E. and Naomi K. (Byler) Yoder. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Henry (Julia A.) Horst, Selinsgrove; a brother, Merle Yoder, Mississippi; stepmother, Patsy Yoder, Port Trevorton; two nieces and two nephews. She also had extended family at the Hartley House. She attended Middleburg schools. She was employed by Suncom Industries, Northumberland for 20 years. She attended Maranatha Praise Center, Hartleton. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Susquehanna Mennonite Church, Port Trevorton, with Pastor Leonard Stine and Albert Heimbach officiating. Interment will be in the church Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of services today at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Hartley House Activity Fund, PO Box 33, Hartleton, PA 17829. George P. Garman Funeral Home Inc., Mount Pleasant Mills, is in charge of arrangements.
BELLEVILLE - Lomie Anna Yoder, 87, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, formerly of Huntingdon RR2, died at 1 a.m. Sunday, June 13, 1999, at Valley View Haven. Born Dec. 28, 1911, in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late Christ P. and Lydia A. (Sharp) Yoder. Her husband, Moses S. Yoder, died July 13, 1969. Surviving are: children, Ray M. Yoder, McVeytown RR1, Helen I. Yoder and Martin L. Yoder, both of Huntingdon RR2; sister and brother, Naomi B. Yoder and Joseph W. Yoder, both of Belleville; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by infant sisters, Mary Yoder and Sadie Yoder; three brothers, John M. Yoder, Aaron S. Yoder, and Alpheus J. Yoder; and two infant grandsons. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Beth-El Mennonite Church and the church sewing circle. She attended J. W. Yoder Music School and enjoyed group music and leading music. She also posed for Mr. Yoder as Roseanna for his book, "Roseanna of the Amish." She enjoyed making braided rugs, and loved being outdoors, gardening and flowers. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Valley View Haven Chapel, Belleville, with the Rev. Galen Sharp and the Rev. Roy L. Yoder officiating. Interment will be in Allensville Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesday at Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville. MATTAWANA - Luther J. Yoder, 89, of Mattawana, died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Aug. 21, 1909, in Bratton Township, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Elizabeth "Lizzie" Harshbarger. His first wife, Ruth M. (Yoder) Yoder, died in 1978. His second wife, Hazel M. (Schmittle) Hicks Yoder, whom he married Feb. 17, 1980, survives. Also surviving are: children, Rev. James A. Yoder, 115 Ridgeview Drive, Lewistown, Hazel Riley, East Lake, Ohio, Donald Yoder, Millsboro, Del., and Dennis Yoder, 1925 SR103 (Longfellow), Lewistown; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family and was preceded in death by two sons and one grandchild. He was employed in early life in the grocery business and later owned and operated Yoder Tourways Inc. He was a member of the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren and the UCT Council 591. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. James A. Yoder and the Rev. Donald Peters officiating. Interment will be in the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the church. LANDSDALE - Margaret N. Yoder, 87, of Dock Terrace, Landsdale, and formerly of Broad Lane Road, Lewistown, died at 5:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 1999, at Dock Terrace. Born Nov. 22, 1911, in Mattawana, she was a daughter of the late Edward J. and Maude M. (Miller) Harshbarger. Her husband, Chester T. Yoder, whom she married March 26, 1939, survives. Also surviving are: daughter, Mrs. Floyd E. (Lois) Zook, Telford; sisters, Mrs. Mark (Mary) French, McVeytown RR2, and Mildred P. Stayrook, Belleville; and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by sisters, Cuma Keener, Blanche Morrison, Bernice Peachey, Estella Yoder and Gertrude Kauffman; brothers, John I. Harshbarger, Guy Harshbarger and Robert Harshbarger. She was a homemaker and a member of Mattawana Mennonite Church, the Golden Rule Sunday School Class and the WMSC Sewing Circle. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Mattawana Mennonite Church, with the Rev. M. Leon Yoder officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the WMSC Sewing Circle, c/o M. BELLEVILLE - Mary E. Yoder, 84, of 10 Whitehall St., Belleville, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, March 12, 2000, at the home of her niece, Amanda E. Yoder. Born Aug. 23, 1915, in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late Jacob C. and Saloma (Peachey) Yoder. She is survived by 40 nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Rudy J. Yoder, John S. Yoder, David T. Yoder, Stephen P. Yoder, Amelia B. Byler, and Sarah S. King. She was a homemaker, seamstress and caregiver. She was a member of Pleasant View Amish Mennonite Church, Belleville. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Pleasant View Amish Mennonite Church, Belleville, with Bishop David J. Peachey and ministers, David J. Peachey and Melvin Beachy officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday at the home of her niece, Amanda E. Yoder, Whitehall and from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the church. The Donald E. BELLEVILLE - Myrene A. Yoder, 40, of 22 Valley Circle, Belleville, died of natural causes at 7:10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at the home of her parents. Born July 13, 1959, in Belleville, she was a daughter of Marlin W. and Anna M. (Zook) Yoder of 3863 W. Main St., Belleville. Her husband, Michael F. Yoder, whom she married April 10, 1982, also survives. Also surviving are: children, Joshua M. Yoder, Jesse M. Yoder and Jenna A. Yoder, all at home; brothers and sister, J. Mark Yoder and Mrs. Randy (Patricia) Bulick, both of Belleville, and Alan P. Yoder of Allensville. She was a homemaker, a member of Mountain View Mennonite Chapel, Reedsville, and the Sunday School. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mountain View Mennonite Chapel, Reedsville, with the Rev. Lester Diller and Rev. Ivan E. Yoder officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30-9 p.m. Sunday at the Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville. MILL CREEK - Ruth A. Yoder, 94, of HCR 61, Box 630, Mill Creek, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at her home. Born June 3, 1905, in Allensville, she was a daughter of the late David D. and Katie (Plank) Zook Kauffman. Her husband, G. Elrose Yoder, whom she married Oct. 3, 1927, died Feb. 17, 1985. Surviving are: children, Iva L. Yoder, Mill Creek, Mrs. David (Effie) Spicher, Belleville, and Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Headings, Hesston, Kansas; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by brother and sisters, David M. Zook, Sadie Zook, Lydia V. Esh and Effie M. Yoder. She was a 1922 graduate of Allensville High School. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Allensville Mennonite Church and the Sunday school. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Allensville Mennonite Church, with Pastor Philip Barr and Pastor Paul Bender officiating. Interment will be in Allensville Mennonite Cemetery. BELLEVILLE - Ruth E. Yoder, 99, Valley View Haven, Belleville, formerly of Allensville, died at 12:40 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Oct. 8, 1900, in Kalona, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late Amos I. and Salome A. (Yoder) Yoder. Her husband, Thomas B. Yoder, died June 14, 1965. Surviving are: children, Richard L. Yoder, Allensville, Mrs. Vincent (Ruby) Snyder of Goshen, Ind., and Mrs. Robert (Sara) Frey of Elkhart, Ind.; brother, Sanford A. Yoder, Goshen, Ind.; 17 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Arnold I. Yoder, on Dec. 25, 1991; five sisters and two brothers. She was a graduate of Goshen Academy and had attended Goshen College. She was employed as a school teacher and taught in Ohio and Pennsylvania, including a one-room schoolhouse in Brady Township. She was a member of Otelia Mennonite Church, Mount Union RR. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Valley View Haven Chapel, Belleville, with the Rev. Galen Sharp and the Rev. Paul Bender officiating. Interment will be in Allensville Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville.
