Ethel K. Miller
LEWISTOWN - Ethel K. Miller, 85, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, formerly of 12 Catherine St., Lewistown, died at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at the nursing home. Born Feb. 8, 1915, in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late Frank O. and Clare (Erb) Rhodes. Her husband, Herbert W. Miller, died April 21, 1979. Surviving are: a son, Mahlon "Mitch" Miller, Carbondale; a sister, Mildred L. Sirgey, 265 Loop Road, Lewistown; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Herbert L. Miller; seven brothers and four sisters. Early in life, she was employed by the American Viscose Corporation and later retired from the Arrow Shirt Factory. She was Protestant by faith. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Rock Cemetery, with the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. There will be no public viewing. Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

George E. Miller
DENVER - George E. Miller, 51, of 790 Lauschtown Road, Denver, PA, formerly of the New Holland area, died Wednesday evening under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County at the Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster, after a lengthy illness. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of Helen (Frank) Harsh, who survives, and the late Raymond Miller. Also surviving are: children, Timothy S. Miller, Terre Hill and Mrs. Rodney (Shannon) C. Martin, Cameron, NC; three half-brothers, James Harsh, East Earl, Jack Harsh, Leola, Carl Miller, McClure; two half-sisters, Mrs. Rodney (Margaret) Reich, Terre Hille and Mrs. Jim (Sandra) Stroup, Milroy; maternal grandmother, Kathryn (Martin) Frank, Manhiem; step-parents, Ruth Miller, McAlisterville and James Harsh, New Holland; and three grandsons. He was employed as an auto body specialist for the past 11 years at Brubacher Excavating, Bowmansville. He was a member of the Ranck's United Methodist Church, New Holland. He was a life member of the North American Hunting Club, and a member of the Baretown Rod & Gun Club and the NRA of Fairfax, VA. His funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ranck's United Methodist Church, 700 Ranck's Road, New Holland, with the Rev. Mark Moore officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. today and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to: Hospice of Lancaster County, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.

Gladys Anna Miller
MOUNT UNION - Gladys Anna Miller, 88 of Box 310, Mount Union RR2, died at 5:22 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. She had been a resident of the Shirley Home, Shirleysburg, for the past three months. Born March 12, 1912, in Ryde, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary Elizabeth (Headings) Miller. She is survived by her husband, Elmer Forest Miller of Huntingdon Manor, whom she marred on Feb. 10, 1940, in Winchester, VA. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Russell (Shirley) Horne of Mount Union RR2 and Douglas D. Miller of Andover, NY; brothers and sisters, Helen Hommon of Bigler, Clayton Miller of Woodland Retirement Home Center, Orbisonia, Chester Miller of Belleville, Leona Taylor of Mount Union RD1, Joseph Miller of Mount Union RD1 and Juliet Culp of Roaring Spring RD; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Wilson and Effie Strausser. She was a homemaker. She attended the Allenport schools and was Protestant by faith. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Dayton Sines officiating. Interment will be in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg RR1. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service.

Helen E. Miller
FALLS CHURCH, Va. - Helen E. Miller, 92, of Falls Church, Va., and formerly of Lewistown, died at 10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, in Arlington, Va. Born Aug. 11, 1908, in Clearfield County, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Rose (Yohoda) Bagrosky. Her husband, John H. Miller, preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1993. Surviving are: children, J. Howard Miller, Falls Church, Va., and Barbara J. Ucic, Euclid, Ohio; a brother and sister, Raymond Bagrosky, Naples, Fla., and Lena Loudenslager, St. Petersburg, Fla.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. She was a housewife. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Lewistown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Lewistown, with Father Thomas Marickovic officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. There will be no public viewing. Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown is in charge of arrangements.

J. Franklin Miller
MIFFLIN - J. Franklin Miller, 94, of the Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC-67, Mifflin, formerly of Mifflintown RR3, died at 3:50 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at the village. Born Aug. 28, 1905, in Fermanagh Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late John B. and Gertrude (Pennebaker) Miller. His wife, Ona (Shearer) Miller, survives. He was employed as the executive vice-president of the First National Bank of Mifflintown from 1957 until his retirement in 1975. He also served on the Board of Directors for the bank from 1969-1988 and from 1988 until the present he served on the director emeritus committee. He was a very active member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Mifflintown; was a charter member of the Mifflintown Lions Club; and volunteered with the Yokefellowship Prison Ministry. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Edwin Rohrbeck officiating. Interment will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, 26 North Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Jon G. 'Jack' Miller
ALTOONA - Jon G. "Jack" Miller, 52, of 1784 Bellemeade Drive, Altoona, died in the morning Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at Altoona Hospital. Born Feb. 7, 1948, in Lewistown, he was a son of G. Jackson and Marjorie (Lofflin) Miller, 213 Green Ave., Lewistown, survive. His wife, Donna Morvan Miller, whom he married in Lewistown Aug. 7, 1971, survives. Also surviving are: children, Jonathan Miller, Katie Miller and Makenzie Miller, all of Altoona; and a brother, Scott Miller of Altoona. He served in the United States Army Reserves in the Medical Corps. He was a 1966 graduate of Altoona High School and he attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. He was president of Miller's Wholesale Florist Inc., Altoona. He was an active member of Greenwood United Methodist Church, Altoona, where he served in various positions, and was previously a teacher of Sunday school of the Friendship Sunday School class. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Greenwood United Methodist Church, 1505 E. Walton Ave., Altoona, with the Rev. Robert A. Vizthum officiating. Interment will be in Alto-Rest Park Cemetery, Altoona. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at Gilden Barton Funeral Home, 1331 Eighth Ave., Altoona, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.

Kenneth I. 'Bunny' Miller
NEWPORT - Kenneth I. "Bunny" Miller, 73, of Newport RR4, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at his home. Born May 30, 1927, in Mifflin County, he was the son of the late James and Maude (Fultz) Miller. His wife, June M. (Himes) Miller, survives. Also surviving are: children, Kenneth I. Miller Jr., Elliotsburg, Sara J. Hinton, Liverpool, Tina M. Campbell, Millerstown, Rosie M. Campbell and Darlene K. Miller, both of New Bloomfield, Connie L. Miller, Newport, and Linda L. Houston, Trafford; brother and sisters, Raymond Miller and Helen Woods, both of Lewistown and Genevieve Murphy, Boiling Springs; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He attended the Ickesburg Church of God. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the David Myers Funeral Home, Newport. Interment will be in the Eshcol Cemetery, Millerstown. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, 1500 N. Second St., Harrisburg, PA 17102-2527 or to Hospice Preferred Choice, 4813 Jonestown Road, Suite 211, Harrisburg, PA 17109.

Raymond W. 'Ray' Miller
MIFFLINTOWN - Raymond W. "Ray" Miller, 66, of Mifflintown RR1, died at 8 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born Nov. 15, 1934, in Quakertown, Bucks County, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Carrie (Miller) Miller. His wife, Jean C. (Cleck) Miller, survives. Also surviving are: stepchildren, Ronald Krauter, Bechtelsville, John Krauter, Williamsport, Steve Krauter, Milton, and Kathy Cleary, Bally; brothers and sisters, Donald Miller and Charles Miller, both of Boyertown, Rena Snider, Tyler, Texas, and Pauline Snyder, Lewistown; five step-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter. He was employed as a truck driver for John Pfrommer Inc., Douglasville, before retiring on disability. He was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Mifflintown, the Liberty Fire House, New Berlinville, and the Bechtelsville Fire House, Bechtelsville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, with the Rev. David A. Cook officiating. Interment will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
