BELLEVILLE - Margaret Ann Reichley, 98, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, formerly of Falls Church, VA, died at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2000, at Valley View Haven. Born May 20, 1902 in McAlevy's Fort, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Catherine E. (Wilson) Mateer. Her husband, William Greenleaf, preceded her in death in 1948. Surviving are: a sister, Eva Bigelow, Belleville; two grandsons and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jane Rogers, who died July 11, 1964, and by sisters, Beulah Lightner, B. Elizabeth Kennedy and Charlotte Eschenbach. She worked as the restaurant manager of Burlington Hotel, Washington D. C., retiring in 1973. She was a Lutheran by faith. Graveside services and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, Belleville, with the Rev. Galen Sharp officiating. The Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville is in charge of arrangements.
LEWISTOWN - Ramona C. Reinard, 83, of 69 Blue Juniata Drive, Lewistown, died at 7:25 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 27, 1917, in Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Maude B. (Anderson) Cromwell. Her husband, Samuel H. Reinard, whom she married Dec. 27, 1940, survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Stephen (Janeann) Runkle, Mechanicsburg, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Nevin C. Reinard, in 1997 and two sisters, Bernice Snook and Florine Lane. She did undergraduate work at Lock Haven University and received her Masters of Education from Penn State University. She was an elementary school teacher for the Mifflin County School District for 37 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Centre Union Church, Lewistown; the Order of Eastern Star of Lewistown; the Mifflin-Juniata County Retired Teachers Association; and the Delta Kappa Tau Sorority. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Leon Clayberger officiating. Committal services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel at Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Centre Union Church, 470 Caldwell Hill Road, Lewistown, PA 17044 or to the Mifflin-Juniata Special Needs Center, 401 Yale St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
MCCLURE - Carmon L. Renninger, 85, of McClure, died at 10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at his home. Born Nov. 4, 1915, in McClure, he was a son of the late Leon C. and Bernice (Pick) Renninger. His wife, Mae Anna (Peters) Renninger of Penn Lutheran Village, Selinsgrove, whom he married Jan. 30, 1937, survives. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Renninger in 1980. He retired in 1972 from the former American Viscose, where he was on the production line for 30 years. He later worked for Yorktown Kitchens, Mifflinburg for six years. He was a member of Mt. Bethel UCC Church, McClure. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Aurand Funeral Homes, North Brown Street, McClure, with the Rev. Donald Wise officiating. Interment will be in the McClure Union Cemetery, Friends may call 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where family will be present 7-9 p.m.
GRANVILLE - Evelyn Arentz Renninger, 87, a resident of the Malta Home, Granville, formerly of 128 S. Main St., Lewistown, died at midnight Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at the Malta Home. Born Feb. 8, 1913, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (Baker) Arentz. Her first husband, Aaron Zook, died in 1965 and her second husband, James W. Renninger Sr., died Feb. 27, 1995. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Edward (Pat) Bunker, Leola and Gary Zook, Pleasant Acres, Lewistown; stepchildren, Mrs. James (JoAnne) Stuck, Brooksville, Fla. and James W. Renninger Jr., 71 Central Ave., Lewistown; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Lewistown. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Dale Hippensteel officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
NEWARK, Del. - George C. Rhea, 74, of 207 Kingsley Drive, Newark, Del., formerly of Lewistown, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at the Veteran's Hospital in Elsmere, Del. Born May 19, 1926, in Blairs Mills, he was the son of the late Robert Ross and Mary Elizabeth (Goss) Rhea. His wife, Thelma L. Rhea, survives. Also surviving are: children, George W. Rhea, Newark, Del., Robert F. Rhea Sr., New Castle, Del., and Mary Rhea Ash, Middletown, Del.; brother and sisters, James Rhea of Mifflintown, Shirley Walls of Burnham, and Eleanor Burge and Elsie Frohm, both of Lewistown; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He worked construction work and as a lumberjack. Graveside services will be held at 2:15 p.m. Friday at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Route 896, Bear, Del. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the American Diabetes Association, 2040 Linglestown Road, Suite 106, Harrisburg, PA 17055.
MILLERSTOWN - Mildred I. Rheam, 87, a resident of Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield, and formerly of Millerstown RR1, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. Born Feb. 26, 1913, in Millerstown, she was a daughter of the late George and Stella (Stroup) McNaughton. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Rheam. Surviving are: sons, John W. Rheam, Belleville, and Raymond D. Rheam, Millerstown RR1; a sister, Ruth P. Savercool, Millerstown; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of West Chester State Teacher's College. She was a school teacher for many years in the Millerstown and Liverpool areas and had assisted her husband in farming. They formerly owned and operated Rheam's Roller Rink and Rheam's Restaurant & Gas Station, Millerstown RR1. She was also an antique dealer. She was a member of Millerstown United Methodist Church and the Perry Valley Grange. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Millerstown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James R. Behrens officiating. Interment will be in Newport Cemetery, Newport RR2. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Millerstown United Methodist Church, 702 E. Sunbury St., Millerstown, PA 17062.
LEWISTOWN - Madeline P. Rhoades, 85, of 136 W. Third St., Lewistown, died at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at the Malta Home, Granville. Born April 15, 1915, in Mifflin, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph C. and Ida M. (Parsons) Pannebaker. She is survived by sisters, Cleo K. "Betty" Kepner, Lewistown and Mrs. Paul (Electa) "Sue" Reeder, Reedsville. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Pannebaker and a sister, Ida V. Sieber. She worked at the American Viscose for 14 years and for Cluett & Peabody Shirt Factory for 34 years, retiring in 1976. She was a member of Grove Memorial Methodist Church, Lewistown and past president of the ACTWU. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. William J. Danis officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.
LEWISTOWN - Betty K. Rhodes, 76, of 729-A Highland Park, Lewistown, formerly of 718 Freedom Ave., Burnham, died at 6:50 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2000, at her residence. Born Oct. 4, 1923, in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late Harry S. and Delli (Kearns) Myers. Her husband, Clifford V. Rhodes, preceded her in death Aug. 29, 1991. Surviving are: a sister, Harvine Lakamais of Florida; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a step-brother, James Summers of Texas; and step-sisters, Mrs. Warren (Betty) Jones, Milroy, Mrs. Carl (Harriet) McLucas, Burnham, and Mrs. Robert (Aline) Specht, Lewistown. She was preceded in death by two sons, Roger Rhodes in 1987, and Rodney Rhodes in 1993. She was a matron for the Mifflin County School District for 24 1/2 years before retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Lewistown Heights. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham with the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewistown. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
