SHIPPENSBURG - Mabel L. Wiser, 70, of 4027 Roxbury Road, Shippensburg, died at noon Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at her home. Born June 4, 1930, in Milroy, she was the daughter of the late Walter T. and Mae V. (Bonson) Rhoades. Her husband, Theodore S. Wiser, survives. Also surviving are: three daughters: Brenda L. Young, McClure, Nancy M. Aumiller, Milroy, and Sally A. Barklow, Shippensburg; three stepsons, Theodore R. Wiser and Terry L. Wiser, both of Shippensburg, and Rev. Tracy L. Wiser, Frederick, Md.; three brothers, Clinton W. Rhoades, East Freedom, Fred J. Rhoades and Robert C. Rhoades, both of Milroy; 23 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson and one brother. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliaries of Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168 and Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223. She was also a member of the National Rifle Association. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg, with the Rev. Rick J. Fischl and the Rev. Tracy L. Wiser officiating. Interment will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Township. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: Summit Cancer Services, 260 N. MIFFLINTOWN - Margery May Wismer, 89, a resident of Brookline Manor and Retirement Village, Mifflintown RR1, formerly of 202 Bratton Ave., Lewistown, died at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at the village. Born July 15, 1911, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Reuben E. and Olive (White) Hanawalt. Her husband, Amos H. Wismer, died July 3, 1984. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Donald (Margery Y.) Stull, Greenville, Thomas H. Wismer, 10 Queen Drive, Lewistown, Robert D. Wismer, Moline, Ill., and Stephen H. Wismer, Dalton, Mass.; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by infant brothers, James and John Hanawalt and a sister, Gladys Houser. She was a graduate of Roxborough Memorial School of Nursing, Philadelphia. She was a registered nurse and worked for both F.W. Black Community Hospital and Lewistown Hospital for many years. She was a 74 year member of the First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school in various age groups. She was an active member of the Pennsylvania Nurses Association and assisted with the Red Cross blood drives in the Lewistown area for many years. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Third St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Richard W. Swartz officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. YEAGERTOWN - Mary Alice Witmer, 81, of Yeagertown, formerly of Beaver Springs, died at 2:50 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital, where she was a patient for the past two weeks. Born May 28, 1919 in Yeagertown, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Sylvia (Bubb) Wilt. Her husband Robert E. Witmer, whom she married in 1943, preceded her in death on April 5, 1990. Surviving are: children, Roberta A. Carr, Sunbury, Kathryn H. Martin, Beavertown and Johanna D. Herman, Franklinville, NJ, John M. Witmer, Middleburg, FL and James L. Witmer, Middleburg RR1; a brother, Samuel Bubb, Deep Run, NC; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Margaret Hummel in 1998. She was a member of Beaver Lutheran Church. In 1985 she retired from Sun Nursing Home, Lewisburg after being employed there for many years. She enjoyed gardening and reading. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, with the Rev. Stanley D. Reep officiating. LEWISTOWN - Mary S. Wolfe, 68, of 196 S. Main St., Lewistown, died at 7:40 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2000 at Health South Rehab Hospital, Pleasant Gap. Born Jan. 23, 1932 in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Elmer F. and Mildred Mae (Patton) Charles, Sr. Her husband Charles E. Wolfe Sr. preceded her in death on June 3, 1992. Surviving are: children, Robert E. Klinger Jr. and Susan A. Klinger, both of Lewistown and Debra Benton, Bellefonte; brothers and sisters, Elmer Charles Jr. and Mrs. Charles (Adaline) Fluke, both of Lewistown, Mrs. John (Betty) Haag, Camp Hill and John Charles, Elkins, NC; and three grandchildren. She was employed by the FMC Corp. until 1972 in the cake converting department. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lewistown. Her funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. David Schmuck officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family at Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. Friends may call from 6 p.m. Sunday until the time of the service at the the funeral home. BURNHAM - Louise Fultz Wolfgang, 78, of 417 Locust St., Burnham, died at 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at her residence. Born March 18, 1922, in Cedar Hill, Reedsville, she was a daughter of the late Milton O. and Mary (Hartman) Fultz. Her husband, Harold E. Wolfgang of 417 Locust St., Burnham, whom she married Jan. 3, 1942 in Philadelphia, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Toni R. Ufema, Westminster, Mass.; three grandsons, one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by three brothers, Fred Fultz, Paul Fultz, and John Fultz; and one sister, Ruth Frey. She was a graduate of Reedsville High School. Early in life, she worked at McCrorys and Murphys Five and Ten Cent Stores and was last employed as an instructor in the tire fabric department at the American Viscose. She was a member of Calvary Bible Church, the Berean Sunday School Class, and the Lewistown Hospital Auxiliary. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Bible Church, Lewistown, with the Rev. Roger R. Reece officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m today at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice: The Bridge, 1126 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
LEWISTOWN - Blanche L. Woods, 92, of 270 W. Fifth St., Lewistown, died at 7:12 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown. Born March 25, 1908, in Neelyton, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Minnie (Long) Traxler. Her husband, Robert Woods, died in August 1974. Surviving are: children, Donald E. Woods, Absecon, NJ, Mrs. Nelson (Velma) Greer, 1016 US Highway 522 North, Lewistown, Harold D. Woods, 3480 State Route 103 North, Lewistown, Mrs. Charles (Mildred) Smithers, Hickory, NC, Robert L. Woods and Dale T. Woods, both of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, and Delores Fort, Elizabethtown; a sister, Mrs. Banks (Ruth) Rhine, 532 W. Fifth St., Lewistown; 25 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Arlene Kline, and two brothers and two sisters. She was a homemaker. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m today at the funeral home.
REEDSVILLE - Clair H. '"Woody" Woods, 64, of 28 E. Railroad St., Reedsville, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at his residence. Born Sept. 25, 1935, in Reedsville, he was the son of Helen A. (Miller) Woods of 10 E. Third St., Lewistown and the late Luther W. Woods. His wife, Julia (Sausman) Woods, whom he married Dec. 3, 1956, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Russell W. Woods, 537 Dry Valley Road, Lewistown; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family and was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Woods in 1987. He was employed at New Holland, retiring in 1991 with 37 years as a facilities guard. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, a charter member of the North American Fishing Club and the North American Hunting Club, and a member of the Raystown Striper Club. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, but friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
MILROY - Joshua F. Woods, 20, of 408 Locke Mills Road, Milroy, died at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at his home. Born Jan. 4, 1980, in Yuma, Ariz., he was a son of Kathy (Eckley) Reed of West Fifth Street, Lewistown and the late Douglas Woods. Also surviving are: stepfather, John E. Reed, West Fifth Street, Lewistown; stepbrother and stepsister, Isaiah Reed and Olivia Reed, both of West Fifth Street, Lewistown; maternal grandparents who raised him, Howard and Betty Eckley, 408 Locke Mills Road, Milroy; maternal great-grandfather, Richard Gearhart, 9 Manor Road, Reedsville; paternal grandmother, Julia S. Woods, 517 Dry Valley Road, Lewistown; paternal great-grandmother, Helen A. Woods, 10 E. Third St., Lewistown; and step-grandparents, Robert and Grace Reed, Honey Creek Road, Reedsville. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Clair Woods, on Aug. 6, 2000. He was a 1998 graduate of Indian Valley High School and attended the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts, Pittsburgh. He was last employed at Nittany Pharmaceuticals, Milroy. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. John S. Walters officiating. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
