MCVEYTOWN - Reynolds M. Woods Sr., 70, of Country Lane, McVeytown, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2000 at his residence. Born April 22, 1930, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late D. Stuart and Eva (Maurey) Woods. His wife, Margaret Woods, preceded him in death Dec. 9, 1999. Surviving are: a son, Reynolds M. Woods, Jr., Parchwood Drive, McVeytown; a brother, Stuart M. Woods, Lewistown; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Early in life, he was a brick layer and then worked as project manager for Neco Contract in Baltimore, before retiring in 1991 as co-owner of North Hills Greenhouse and co-owner of Keystone Excavating Inc. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lewistown. He was also a member of the Lewistown Moose Lodge No. 143, Lewistown, he was a past master and secretary and a member of the McVeytown Lodge No. 376 Free and Accepted Masons of PA, a member of the Valley of Altoona, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Jaffa Shrine Temple, AAONMS. He served as past commander at the Lewistown Commandery No. 26 Knights Templar, as a past high priest of Lewistown Chapter No. 186 Royal Arch Masons, the Juniata Valley Council No. 64 Royal and Select Master Masons, and was a past patron of the Lewistown Chapter No. 283 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald Krum officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Barr Funeral Home. Masonic services will be at 8:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
MEXICO - Franklin E. "Boo" Woodward Jr., 30, of Mexico, died of natural causes at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital. Born March 26, 1970, in Harrisburg, he was the son of Franklin E. and Suzanne M. "Bunny" (Beward) Woodward of Mexico. He is also survived by his grandmother, Helen S. Woodward of McAlisterville. He was a 1988 graduate of Juniata High School, Mifflintown. He was employed as a carpenter at Excel Homes, Liverpool. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and playing softball. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. James A. Neimond officiating. Interment will be in Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Cemetery, Academia. There will be no public viewing, however, friends may call 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
HONEY GROVE - John R. Woodward, 83, of Honey Grove RR1, died at 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000 at Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 4, 1917 in Tuscarora Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Samuel R. and Hannah (McClure) Woodward. His wife Martha (Wilson) Woodward, whom he married July 5, 1945, survives. Also surviving are: children, Donald R. Woodward, Honey Grove RR1 and Mrs. Roy (Louise) Wingate Jr., Aurora, Colo.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Woodward. He was valedictorian of his 1936 Mifflintown High School class. He was a farmer all his working life, and served as a school board director for the Lack and Tuscarora schools in Juniata County. He was an avid baseball player for the former Reeds Gap team, and he enjoyed hunting. He was a life-long member and a former trustee of McCoysville United Presbyterian Church, McCoysville. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at McCoysville United Presbyterian Church, McCoysville, with the Rev. Frank K. Muse officiating. Interment will be in McCoysville Cemetery, Tuscarora Township, Juniata County. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Rex Funeral Home, 308 Market St., Port Royal. REEDSVILLE - Isabelle C. "Peggy" Woomer, 81, of 4430 US Highway 322, Reedsville, died at 7:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at her residence. Born March 12, 1919, in Milroy, she was the daughter of the late Robert Ellsworth and Mary Luella (Fultz) Fultz. Her husband, Justin Gerald Woomer, died Nov. 19, 1973. Surviving are: brothers and sisters, Pauline "Polly" O'Donnell, Lewistown, Ivy Price, Belleville, Lois Evertts, Harrisburg, Max O. Fultz, Spring Mills, and David L. Fultz, Milroy. She was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Naomi Musser, Miriam Larimer, Robert L. Fultz, John H. Fultz and Eugene Ellsworth Fultz. She was a United States postal worker at the Milroy Post Office. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Milroy. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with the Rev. Rosalie N. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. There will be no viewing. ALLENSVILLE - Mary Elda Worthing, 95, of Allensville died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at her residence after an extended illness. Born Jan. 24, 1905, in Martinsburg, she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Mary (Law) Smith. Her husband, Cloyd L. Worthing, whom she married in Hollidaysburg Nov. 18, 1922, preceded her in death Oct. 19, 1982. Surviving are: children, Marjorie Ketner, Allensville, Doris Fittery, Huntingdon, Daniel Worthing, Mifflintown, and Ralph Worthing, Fredericksburg; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a daughter, Grace Romaine Worthing. She was the last of her immediate family. She was a homemaker and a member of Raven Run Church of the Brethren, Saxton. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidering. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Raven Run Church of the Brethren, Saxton, with Pastor John Keefer and Pastor Dan Hammel officiating. Interment will be in St. Luke's Cemetery, Saxton RD. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Long Funeral Chapel, 715 Church St., Saxton, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service at Raven Run Church. McCLURE - Glen E. Wray, 74, a resident of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Old Stage Road, McClure, died at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Aug. 11, 1925, in Decatur Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Ezra and Mabel (Laub) Wray. His wife, Barbara (Wilt) Wray, whom he married June 28, 1958, survives. Also surviving are: children, Glen E. Wray Jr., McClure, Mrs. Carl (Mabel) Peachey Jr., Lewistown and Barbara Kephart, McClure; brothers and sisters, Cloyd Wray, Paul Wray, Mrs. Donald (Mary) Loht and Mrs. Ronald (Ruth) Weaver, all of McClure, and Mrs. Charles (Patsy) Napikoski, Burnham; six grandchildren, one step-grandchild and one step-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a brother, Merle Wray, and a sister, Arlene Collins. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a partner in Wray Lumber Company, Vira, having retired in 1982. He was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dormantown. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Dormantown Lutheran Cemetery with the Rev. Clyde B. Singh officiating. Military rites will be performed by VFW Post No. 7011, Lewistown. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown. HUNTINGDON - Elizabeth M. Wyland, 70, of 2730 Cold Springs Road, Huntingdon, died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at Altoona Hospital. Born May 15, 1930, in Boalsburg, she was the daughter of Belva (Stricker) Franklin of Bellefonte and the late Thomas Franklin. Her husband, John L. Wyland of Huntingdon, whom she married Dec. 24, 1949 at the Cleaver Memorial Methodist Church in Petersburg, survives. Also surviving are: children, David Wyland, Jeffrey "Denny" Wyland, and Lorrie Noey, all of Huntingdon; brothers and sisters, Tom Franklin, Centre Hall, Ray Franklin, Spring Mills RR, Ben Franklin, Ebensburg, Colleen Cramer, Lewistown, Florene Richner, Bellefonte, Shirley Flood, Baltimore, Md., and Mona McCabe, Alexandria; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Duane Franklin. She was a 1948 graduate of Duncannon High School. She retired from the Petersburg Manufacturing Company, Petersburg in 1987. She was a member of the 15th Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She enjoyed painting, arts and crafts, and traveling. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, 1106 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. C. Rayvon Hilliard officiating and assisted by John D. Noey. Family will receive friends after 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
CARLISLE - Clara V. "Cookie" Yarlett, 81, of Carlisle, formerly of Lewistown and Port Royal, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at the Sarah Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle. Born April 20, 1919, in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late Cheater and Rebecca (Raudabaugh) Garman. Her husband of 57 years, the Rev. Francis P. Yarlett, preceded her in death. Surviving are: sons, James L. Yarlett and David P. Yarlett, both of Carlisle; brothers, Paul, Walter, Marlin, Merle, Jessie, and Chester Garman, all of Carlisle; sisters, Mary Garman and Thelma Garman, both of Carlisle and Ruthie Kuhn, Boiling Springs; five granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; one step-grandson and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. She was a member of the Waggoners United Methodist Church, Carlisle; the Old Bellaire Chapter 375 Order of the Eastern Star; and the North Middleton Senior Citizens. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Waggoners United Methodist Church, 1055 Longs Gap Road, Carlisle, with the Rev. Tim Funk officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, North Middleton Township. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle.
