MCCLURE - Edna L. Yetter, 66, of 16 E. High St., McClure, died at 10:42 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. Born May 10, 1934, in Mifflin County, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Genevieve (Gay) Leister. Her husband, Joseph A. Yetter, died Feb. 16, 1970. Surviving are: children, Mrs. James (Sharon) Snook, Kenneth E. Yetter, and Sherri J. Yetter, all of McClure and Joseph A. Yetter Jr., Virginia Beach, Va.; brothers and sisters, Genevieve Stull, Floyd Leister, Harold Leister, Darlis Fultz, Mabel Wagner, all of McClure RR, Jay Leister, Lewistown, and Gertie Wagner, San Antonia, Texas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, an infant daughter, and a brother, John J. Leister. She was a residential service aide for the Selinsgrove Center, retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dormantown. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Clyde B. Singh officiating. Interment will be in Black Oak Ridge Cemetery II. Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
LEWISTOWN - Harry W. Yetter, 85, of 1833 Valley View Ave., Lewistown, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000 at Locust Grove Retirement Center, Mifflin. Born May 13, 1915 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Samuel and Sarah Margaret (Kauffman) Yeatter. His wife Edith (Yoder) Yetter preceded him in death on March 3, 1985. Surviving are: children,Mrs. Ronald (Sara) Casner and Sandra Yetter, both of McClure, Lola R. Yetter, Lewistown and Larry J. Yetter, East Waterford; a brother, Howard Yetter, Seal Rock, Ore.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Samuel H. Yetter on May 19, 1999, and by two brothers and four sisters. He was employed by Standard Steel, Burnham, where he retired after 44 years of service. After retirement from Standard Steel, he sold produce at the Golden Mile Farmers Market in Burnham. He was a member of Paintersville CMA Church. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. George H. Mark officiating. Interment will be in Paintersville CMA Church Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
MIFFLINTOWN - George W. Yocum, 82, of Cedar View Apartments, Mifflintown, died at 1:55 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2000, at home. Born Aug. 12, 1917, in Fermanagh Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late William J. and Emma Jane (Hersh) Yocum. His wife, Wilma J. (Hostler) Yocum, whom he married Feb. 26, 1945, survives. Also surviving are: a son, the Rev. George Clifton Yocum, Everett' a sister, Mary Musser, Mifflintown RR2; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Elmer, Mortimer and Charles Yocum, and by sisters, Olive Yeater and Violet Yocum. He worked for 28 years at Hawstone Brick plant until it closed, and at Mexico Forge until it closed, retiring in 1985 from Mann-Edge Tool, Lewistown. After retirement, he worked at Lyon Fashions, McAlisterville, as a night watchman. He was a member of Arch Rock United Methodist Church. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Edwin Rohrbeck officiating. Interment will be in Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown RR2. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SUN Home Health, 2 Hudson Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.
MIFFLINBURG - Elizabeth I. Yoder, 77, of Mifflinburg RR2, died at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2000 at Rolling Hills Nursing Home, Millmont RR1, where she had been a resident for six months. Born Dec. 9, 1923 in Mifflintown, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Minnie (Brubaker) Lauver. her husband Leon D. Yoder, whom she married May 17, 1952 survives. Also surviving are children, Kenneth Yoder, Lewisburg, Dale Yoder and Steven Yoder, both of Lititz, Robert Yoder, Sunbury, Kathy Hackenberg, Middleburg and Darlene Gemberling, Mifflinburg, sisters, Anna Saner and Ellen Apple, both of McAlisterville, and Bessie Frymoyer, Mifflintown, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Chester Lauver, Raymond Lauver, Clayton Lauver and Ruth Graybill. She attended McAlisterville High School. She worked at L. Shellenberger and Sons garment factory, McAlisterville, until she was married, after which she was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting and flower and vegetable gardening. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Delaware Mennonite Church, Thompsontown RR1. Interment will be in the church Cemetery. Friends may call 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with the family present to receive friends 7-9 p.m.
BARBERTON, Ohio - Eugene I. Yoder, 60, of 1043 West Hopocan Ave., Barberton, Ohio, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at his home. Born April 10, 1940, in Belleville, he was a son of the late David J. and Pauline E. (Hostetler) Yoder. Surviving are: children, David Yoder, Montoursville, Mrs. Tony (Becky) Combs, Norton, Ohio, and Mrs. Lee (Jeri) Confer, Williamsport; stepchildren, Jeff Williams and Angie Smith; sister and brothers, Barbara J. Egan, York, Harry R. "Bud" Yoder, Williamsport, and Herbert L. Yoder, Estes Park, CO; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl W. "Wally" Yoder. He was a retired truck driver for CR Crane and Rigging Company of Jacksonville, FL. He was a member of the Christian Church in Cogan Station and attended Grace Church of Norton in Ohio. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville, with the Rev. Harry R. "Bud" Yoder officiating. Interment will be in Hooley Cemetery, Reedsville. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
ALLENSVILLE - G. Allen Yoder, 69, of 50 Water St., Allensville, died at 2:52 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. Born July 17, 1931, in Belleville, he was the son of the late Jacob P. and Saloma N. (Peachey) Yoder. His wife, Anna Margaret (Peachey) Yoder, whom he married Jan. 2, 1954, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Lynn (Susan) Newcomer, Emporium, Jay A. Yoder, Huntingdon RR2, Mrs. Darrel (Arlene) Byler, Allensville, and Mrs. Craig (Beth) Finkbiner, McAlisterville; sisters, S. Esther Yoder, and Barbara E. Yoder, both of Belleville, Mrs. Marvin (Anna Mary) Byler, Centerport, Mrs. James (Marian) Payne, Heathsville, Va., and Mrs. James (Rebecca) Walters, Chula Vista, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Saloma P. Yoder and brothers, John E. Yoder and J. Edwin Yoder. He retired in 1997 as an estimator in the construction department of Allensville Planing Mill after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Locust Grove Mennonite Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher for 50 years, an elder for 15 years, a song leader, a chorus leader, and served on the church building committee. He was also the chairman of the Allensville Municipal Authority, member and chaplain of the Allensville Fire Co., served two terms on the Valley View Retirement Community Board, and most recently served as the building inspector of the new addition of the Valley View Retirement Community. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Locust Grove Mennonite Church, Belleville, with the Rev. Max Zook, the Rev. Mayard Beitzel and the Rev. Erie Renno officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Locust Grove Mennonite Church, 3358 W. Main St., Belleville, PA 17004 or to the Valley View Retirement Community, 4702 E. Main St., Belleville, Pa 17004. The Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. PORT ROYAL - Gerald E. "Gerd" Yoder, 77, of Port Royal RR1, died at 1:58 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC 67 Mifflin. Born Aug. 22, 1923, in Spruce Hill Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Noah Hertzler and Mary Ellen (Souders) Yoder. Surviving are: a companion, Vera Knepp, Lewistown; brothers and sisters, C. Hugh Yoder, Brookline Manor, Mifflintown RR1, Dean S. Yoder, Port Royal RR1 and Gladys Y. Snyder, Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Y. Gilson on July 30, 2000. He was a retired equipment operator and worked for Spruce Hill Township on road maintenance for a number of years. He served one and a half terms as a supervisor for Spruce Hill Township. He was a member of the Matamoras United Methodist Church, Port Royal RR1. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. Frank J. Swartz officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. BELLEVILLE - Lydia M. Yoder, 82, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, died at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at Valley View Haven. Born June 17, 1918, in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late Henry M. and Annie K. (Peachey) Zook. Her husband Jesse C. "Tinner" Yoder, died Feb. 19, 1999. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Paul (Delores) Knepp, Allensville, Anna Marinos, Lewistown, Mrs. Eugene (Judy) Heide and Mrs. John (Joyce) Yoder, both of Buhler, Kan.; sisters, Mrs. Roy (Lizzie) Yoder and Mrs. Joseph (Evalena) Zook, both of Belleville; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Leah Barbara Yoder on Jan. 25, 1943, and by brothers Urie H. Zook and John J. Zook. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Allensville Mennonite Church, and Hannah's Helpers Sunday School Class. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Allensville Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Philip Barr officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery. Friends may call 6:30-9 p.m. Friday at the Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.
