Matthew Paul Gibson, 17, of Snydersville, was lifted to heaven on the wings of angels on Thursday, January 8th.
Born on July 17, 1997 in East Stroudsburg, he was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.
Matthew was a senior at Stroudsburg High School. He was in the top 10% of his class, member of the National Honor Society and achieved high honor roll all through high school. He was active in Boy Scouts of America since 1st grade, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in June 2014.
He loved to fish, hunt, hike, play guitar and spend time with his beloved dog Jack. He also loved chemistry which he studied intently and performed experiments since he was 5. He aspired to be a Medical Research Chemist.
Surviving are his parents, Paul and Lori (Kelley) Gibson and a brother, Christopher Gibson.
There will be a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Tuesday, January 13, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. The funeral service will begin at 11:00AM Wednesday, January 14, at St. John's Evangelical Congregational Church, 6014 Custard Road (village of Bartonsville), Stroudsburg, with Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Stroudsburg Cemetery.
Carol D. Miller
(January 11, 1936 - December 18, 2014)
Carol D. Miller, nee Kirchner, 78, of Hemlock Farms, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at the VNA Hospice House in East Stroudsburg, after a struggle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Miller, who passed away on November 21, 2005.
Born on January 11, 1936 in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Florence Kirchner. She grew up in Fairlawn N.J. before moving to Oakland, N.J. where she raised her family then moved to Hemlock Farms in the mid 1980's.
Carol, together with her husband John, owned and operated Miller Custom Homes since 1987, having built over 100 homes in Hemlock Farms. She was well-known in the community and loved by her customers and employees.
She is survived by her three children, Bill Strys of Butler, N.J., Judy Longo and her husband Jerry of Wanaque, N.J., and Patti Whelan and her husband Tom of North Wildwood, N.J.; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
There will be visitation hours from 10:00AM to noon on Tuesday, December 23rd, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg; where the funeral service will begin at noon with the Rev. Stuart Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg.
Hugh J. Dougher

Hugh Joseph Dougher, age 88, of Stroudsburg, PA, died Wednesday, December 17, 2014.
He leaves his devoted wife of 62 years, Joan (Early) Dougher, his six children, their spouses, and his 19 grandchildren: Hugh Joseph III (Melissa) Dougher and their children: Hugh IV and Patrick of Sedro Woolley, WA; Victor Dougher of Stroudsburg, PA; Joseph (Laura) Dougher and their children: Kevin, Kelly, Kayla, Kaitlyn, Kenneth, Kristen, Kieran, and Kara of Saylorsburg, PA; Shawn Dougher and his children: Kyle and Zachary of Stroudsburg, PA; Mauri (Michael) Sullivan and their children: Michael, Kathryn, Dylan, and Andrew of Havertown, PA; and Amy (James) Clegg and their children: Jack, Diana, and Ryan of Clarks Summit, PA.
Hugh was born in Archbald, PA, on May 23, 1926, the son of the late Hugh Joseph Dougher Sr. and Veronica Naylor Dougher. He was predeceased by his brothers Gerard and Charles Dougher and his sister Ann Jeanette Moran.
He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and served on a submarine tender, the USS Euryale. He and his fellow sailors were amongst the first Americans to occupy Japan after the treaty was signed.
Hugh retired from Patterson-Kelley Company as an electrician in 1992 after 42 years. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed traveling with his wife and participating in many outdoor activities with his children. He was especially proud of finishing the New York City Marathon twice in his 50's with impressive finishing times for his age group.
Hugh was a member of Saint Luke's Catholic Church in Stroudsburg.
Friends and family may visit from 9:30 to 10:00AM on Saturday, December 20, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 818 Main Street, Stroudsburg; where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. Cremation was private.
Stuart Owen Strauss
(March 12, 1949 - December 6, 2014)
Stuart Owen Strauss, 65, of East Stroudsburg, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, NY, from complication of routine surgery. He was the husband of Janet M. (Hermann) Strauss with whom he shared 25 years of marriage.
Born on March 12, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY; he had dual residences in Monroe County and Glendale (Queens County), NY since 1993.
He worked in the envelope and printing business all his life.
Stuart was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Red Nights and many other motorcycle organizations. He was the proud founder of Independent Bikers of PA.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Stefanie; a son, Brett; a step-daughter, Christine; and several grandchildren.
Visitation hours will be from 2:00 to 4:00PM and 6:00 to 8:00PM on Friday, December 19, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg; with a service at 7:00PM with Rev. John Harding officiating. Cremation was private.
Bernard P. Spannagel
(February 17, 1942 - December 6, 2014)
Bernard P. Spannagel, 72, of Reeders, died suddenly on Saturday, December 6.
Born on February 17, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of Dorothy (Hertling) Spannagel of Goshen, NY and the late Bernard Spannagel.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1964, and prior to retirement was vice president of Paramount Pictures.
Bernard was a member of Calvary Chapel in Tannersville and enjoyed racing pigeons.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by five children, Charmaine Erdman of Islip Terrace, NY, Bethany Spannagel of Reeders, David Spannagel of Dallas, TX, Jonathan Spannagel of Snydersville, and Olivia Spannagel of Reeders; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three siblings, Eleanor Bourke, James Spannagel and Phillip Spannagel; and nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Thursday, December 11, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg. The funeral service will begin at 10:00AM Friday, December 12, at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Stroudsburg Cemetery.

Mildred A. Lesoine DePue
(February 28, 1921 - December 8, 2014)
Mildred A. Lesoine DePue, 93, a resident of Pleasant Valley Manor in Hamilton Township, passed away Monday afternoon, December 8.
Born on February 28, 1921 in East Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of the late Marvin and Margaret (Fritz) Smith and was a lifetime Monroe County resident.
She worked as an inspector at Ronson until retiring.
Mildred was a member of Wooddale United Methodist Church and loved gardening and her flowers. Known by many as "gram"; her home was always open to everyone.
Surviving are two sons, Fred Lesoine and his wife Wanda of Stroudsburg and Lynn Lesoine and his wife Sue of East Stroudsburg; two sisters, Doris Schoonover and her husband Doug of East Stroudsburg and Gladis Doll of Stroudsburg and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Ross Lesoine and Art DePue; a son, Ross Lesoine; and two siblings Hazel Lesoine and Marvin Smith, Jr.
There will be a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00AM on Saturday, December 13, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg; where the funeral service will begin at 11:00AM with her son, Pastor Lynn Lesoine officiating. Burial will follow at Wooddale Cemetery.
