Joan C. Sheeley, 84, formerly of Stroudsburg, passed away Tuesday evening, January 27, at Golden Living Center in East Stroudsburg where she was a resident since February 2013. She was the widow of William N. Sheeley who died January 2, 1994.
Born on January 6, 1931 in Kearny, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Elbert and Jean (Stark) Plant.
Prior to retirement, she worked in the infant department at K-Mart in East Stroudsburg.
Joan was a member of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church and the church's United Methodist Women group.
Surviving are three children, William J. Sheeley and his wife Kelly of Saylorsburg, Jenny Bogart and her husband Ronald, Sr. of East Stroudsburg and Susan Sheeley of Jonas; a sister, Jacqueline Bannon of Wellington, KS; five grandchildren, Kate Sheeley, Kennedy Sheeley, Karlie Sheeley, Ronald Bogart, Jr. and Keelyan Sheeley; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, January 31, at Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, Main Street, Stroudsburg, with Rev. Robert Shank officiating. Cremation was private and burial will take place at a later date at Stroudsburg Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Gladys Esposito
(May 19, 1927 - January 26, 2015)
Gladys Esposito, 87, a resident of Brookmont Healthcare Center in Effort, passed away on Monday, January 26.
Born May 19, 1927 in Sayreville, NJ, she was a daughter of the late John Joseph and Mary (Masiello) Unkel.
She lived in Bushkill for many years and managed the dining rooms at Pocmont and Glenwood before retiring.
Gladys was a member of the Reformed Church of Bushkill and had volunteered for Bushkill Outreach.
She is survived by two sisters, Tremaine Leiberman and her husband Gene of Sayreville, NJ and Marie Dominik of Newark, DE; a brother, John "Pal" Unkel and his wife Ann of Sayreville, NJ; a daughter, Robin Callahan-Read and her husband Albert "Cush" Read of Marshalls Creek; her beloved grandson, Chris Clarke and his girlfriend Meghan King of Marshalls Creek; her great grandson whom she adored, Evan Read of Scranton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Ned "Butch" Callahan and her husband, Adam Esposito. The marriage of Robin and Cush instantly gave her many more grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she very much enjoyed getting to know and love.
A memorial service will be held in the spring or early summer at the convenience of the family. Please contact Robin for information.

Mary Jane Compton
(July 17, 1940 - January 25, 2015)
Mary Jane Compton, 74, of East Stroudsburg, passed away Sunday, January 25, while under hospice care at home. She was the wife of Wayne Compton with whom she shared 38 years of marriage.
Born on July 17, 1940 in Taylor, she was the daughter of the late John and Annebella (Howie) Tibbs.
She worked as a sewing machine operator at A&H; Sportswear in Easton until retirement.
Mary Jane loved to play BINGO.
In addition to her husband, surviving are three sons, Stewart Miller and his fiance Joyce of Easton, Louis Mertz and his wife Jane of Allentown, and Daniel Miller Sr. of Easton; two step-children, Wayne Compton Jr. of Sarasota, FL and Candy Heater and her husband Wayne of Homosassa, FL; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Mertz.
Private services will take place at the convenience of the family. Cremation was private and there will be no visitation.

R. Florence Kane
(October 5, 1929 - January 23, 2015)
R. Florence Kane, 85, of Stroudsburg, passed away on Friday, January 23, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest in Allentown. She was the widow of Eugene T. Kane who died February 18, 2001.
Born on October 5, 1929 in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Mamie (Petroziello) Ardoline and lived in Monroe County for the past 32 years.
She was a retired Registered Nurse and belonged to the YMCA in Stroudsburg.
Surviving are five children, Jean Celeste Astorina and her husband David of Candor, NY, Sister Karen Kane of Baltimore, MD, Tommy M. Kane of Stroudsburg, Charles Kane of West Orange, NJ and Patricia Torchia and her husband Mark of Stroudsburg; five grandchildren, Brian Celeste, Nick Celeste, Michael Kane, Scott Luders and Gabriel Torchia; four siblings, Lucille DeGraba of Kensington, MD, Joseph Ardoline of Pittston, Harry Ardoline of Bethlehem and Graceann Colarusso of Blakeslee; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Wednesday, January 28, at Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church, Cherry Lane Road, Tannersville, with Rev. Richard E. Czachor as celebrant. Cremation was private and there will be no visitation.
Mary Margaret (Steiner) Ludlow
(August 29, 1926 - January 24, 2015)
Mary Margaret (Steiner) Ludlow, passed away on Saturday, January 24th at the VNA Hospice House in East Stroudsburg.
Mary was born on August 29, 1926 in Mason City, Iowa, the only daughter of the late Clement and Kathleen (Fitzgerald) Steiner. She grew up in Rockwell and Mason City where she graduated as valedictorian from St. Joseph's Catholic School.
Mary marriage Robert Ludlow on Dec. 30th, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They lived in Mason City, IA until 1961 when Bob's government work took the family to North Dakota, Nebraska, Miss. and Pennsylvania in 1967 where Mary has lived ever since.
She had a long career as executive secretary for Eatons Dept. Store in Mason City, Iowa. In PA she worked for 15 years at East Stroudsburg University, first as night manager of the student union snack bar, then moving to day shift as head cashier. After retiring from ESU Mary worked part-time for several years, in the rental office at Greentree Apartment Complex in East Stroudsburg, where she also lived.
Mary's great kindness and love she had for her family spilled over onto all she knew. Her Irish wit and humor extended to those she met along her way.
She was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg.
Mary leaves behind her beloved children, Loni Kotowski of Croton-on-Hudson, NY and Matthew Ludlow of Telford, PA; son-in-law, Staszek Kotowski; daughter-in-law, Marcia Ludlow; granddaughter, Sarah Reese of Keansburg, NJ; grandsons, Derek Ludlow and Troy Ludlow both of Telford, PA; great grandsons Vincent Cuicco, Robert Cuicco and their father Nick Cuicco all of Keansburg, NJ; and a brother, Tom Steiner of Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ludlow; daughter, Lori Ludlow Reese; brothers, Joe, David, and Leo; a brother in infancy; as well as her mother and father-in-law, Emma and Harry Ludlow
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Friday, January 30, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Saturday, January 31, at St. Matthew's Church, 200 Brodhead Avenue, East Stroudsburg with Monsignor John A. Bergamo as celebrant. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.

Ruthann Mundy
(March 3, 1940 - January 25, 2015)
Ruthann Mundy, 74, of Stroudsburg, passed away Sunday morning, January 25, at the VNA Hospice House in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of William Joseph Mundy with whom she shared 55 years of marriage on January 23.
Born on March 3, 1940 in Newark, NJ she was one of eight children to the late Martin and Mabel (Johnson) Peters.
Ruthann was a financial advisor for over 30 years and retired from Smith Barney in 2005.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf and tennis, especially with her daughters and grandchildren. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Cheryl McMullin and her husband Paul of Las Vegas, NV, Lisa Cardwell and her husband David of Sciota, Audra Bushta and her husband Todd of Stroudsburg and Dawn Dell'Ergo and her husband Fred of Mesa, AZ; five grandchildren, Andrew McMullin and his wife Jessica of Las Vegas, NV, Jennifer McMullin of Las Vegas, NV, Emily Bushta of Stroudsburg, Eric Bushta of Stroudsburg and Krystal Cardwell of Sciota; a great-granddaughter, Emma McMullin of Las Vegas, NV; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Dorothy Scarpuzzi, Thelma Palmer, Joan McClellan, Margie Opitz and Pauline Iskra, and two brothers, Ross Peters and Robert Peters.
Friends and family may visit from 2:00 to 3:00PM on Wednesday, January 28, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg; where the funeral service will begin at 3:00PM with Wesley Wales officiating. Cremation was private.
