Roberta K. Otto
(August 23, 1922 - December 3, 2014)

Roberta K. Otto, 92, of Hamilton Township, died Wednesday, December 3, at home. She was the widow of Floyd Otto.

Born on August 23, 1922 in East Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of the late Luke and Florence Predmore and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.

She worked for Hughes Printing in East Stroudsburg.

Surviving are three children, Cindy Hardy, Robert Otto and William Otto, all of Stroudsburg; and several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, David Otto; twin brother, Robert Predmore; sister, Grace Tanner; and grandsons, William Otto, Jr. and Mark Otto.

There will be a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00AM on Monday, December 8, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg. The funeral service will begin at 11:00AM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Candy LaBar officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.

Alvin J. Kirkwood
(March 3, 1926 - November 24, 2014)

U.S. Veteran
Alvin J. Kirkwood of Pen Argyl, formerly of Tobyhanna, passed away November 24, after a long illness. He was the husband of Ureneus (Dotson) Kirkwood to whom he was marriage since 1948.

He was born in Baltimore, MD and raised in Mt. Airy, MD by his grandmother, uncle and aunt.

Alvin attended the public schools of Carroll County MD graduating from the Robert Moton High School in 1943. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and served until June of 1946. He enrolled in the Baltimore City Radio and Electronics school completing the course in 1948.

He became a civil service employee at the Fort Holabird & Middle River Installations working as a radio repairman. Later he was transferred to the Tobyhanna Army Depot and became an electronics inspector, retiring in 1981. He also operated a tv and radio repair service and was a licensed amateur radio operator (W30RX).

Alvin was a member of the Tobyhanna United Methodist Church and associate member of the PA Association of school retirees. He enjoyed criss-crossing the state with Ureneus when she was state president visiting local chapters and conventions. He was often referred to as "Mr. PASR".

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gary of East Stroudsburg; a daughter, Cynthia Kirkwood Gary of Aldan; a sister, Helen Butler Neal of Ellicott City, MD; two granddaughters, Nicole of Mt. Laurel, NJ and Brandi (Seinna) of Carlisle; two great nieces, Denyse Wright of Columbia, MD and Dawn Bowyer (Edward) of Baltimore, MD; a sister-in-law, Martha Greene of Westminster, MD; and many nieces and nephews of the Dotson family who always referred to him as Uncle Al. He was predeceased by grandson, Cory in 2006, and a daughter-in-law, Arlene in 2014.

There will be a viewing from 4:00 to 7:00PM on Friday, November 28, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg. The funeral service will begin at 11:00AM Saturday, November 29, at the Tobyhanna United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jonathan Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrance may be made to the PA Association of School Retirees Memorial Honor Fund, 878 Century Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 or Tobyhanna United Methodist Church, Box 65, Tobyhanna, PA 18466.

Elizabeth "Bette" B. Morgan
(January 16, 1924 - January 12, 2015)

Elizabeth B. "Bette" Morgan, 90, of Dover, Ohio and formerly of Stroudsburg, died on Monday, January 12th in Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio, following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late John and Bertha (Quackenbush) Becker, Elizabeth was born January 16, 1924 in Scranton. She graduated from Central High School in Scranton in 1941. She then continued her education at Scranton Lackawanna College, graduating in 1942 with a stenographic secretarial degree. Following graduation, she worked for the Signal Corps in Philadelphia during World War II. Over the years she worked for various businesses before retiring in 1990 from the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.

She was an active member of the Stroudsburg community, where she was a member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church; a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Monroe Chapter 99; the American Legion Post 346 Auxiliary where she was a Past President; and the Order of the Amaranth Dorothy Lim Memorial

For more than 50 years, Elizabeth resided in Stroudsburg, but in 2004, along with her late husband, William, relocated to Dover, Ohio to be near their son and young granddaughters. She enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, bowling in her younger years and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and John Metzgar of Stroudsburg; her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Kate Morgan of Dover; and her four grandchildren, Michelle Metzgar of Stroudsburg, Matthew Metzgar of Wind Gap, and Lauren and Emily Morgan, both of Dover.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Thomas Morgan, Sr. who passed away on October 11, 2011; and an infant sister.

A Celebration of Life was celebrated on Saturday, January 17th at 10:30AM in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. Entombment followed in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.

Memorial remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society Monroe Unit, 2158 W. Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

Carl L. Strunk
(February 21, 1925 - January 14, 2015)

U.S. Veteran
Carl L. Strunk, 89, a resident of Pleasant Valley Manor in Hamilton Township, died Wednesday, January 14, at the VNA Hospice House in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Marie A. (Butts) Strunk who died July 10, 2002.

Born on February 21, 1925 in East Stroudsburg, he was a son of the late Howard and Lillian (Sebring) Strunk and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.

A World War II veteran, he served in the United States Army in the European Theatre 78th Division Infantry.

Carl worked for Asplundh Tree Expert Company for fifty years, retiring as a general foreman.

He was a member and Pilgrim of the L.O.O. Moose #1336 in East Stroudsburg; a life-member of the Sullivan Trail Memorial Post VFW in Sciota; and a member of American Legion Post 346 in East Stroudsburg and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Stroud Township.

Surviving are two sons, Albert Strunk and his wife Carol of Paradise Valley and Jeffrey Strunk and his wife Rebecca of Tannersville, three grandchildren, Stephen Strunk, Andrew Strunk and Carrie Strunk; two great grandchildren, Molly Strunk and Hannah Lee Strunk; two step great grandchildren, Morgan Liss and Michael Miller; a brother, Frederick Strunk a resident of Pleasant Valley Manor; and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be from 12:30 to 1:30PM on Saturday, January 17, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg; where the funeral service will begin at 1:30PM with Rev. Michael Kloton officiating. Cremation will follow the service and private burial will take place at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to VNA Hospice House at University Ridge, c/o VNA Hospice of Monroe County, 502 VNA Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.

Willie Freeman Walston
(July 12, 1920 - December 12, 2014)

U.S. Veteran
Willie Freeman Walston, 94, of East Stroudsburg, passed away on Friday morning, December 12, while at home under hospice care. He was the husband of the late Janie K. (China) Walston who died July 7, 1990.

Born on July 12, 1920 in Pinetop, NC, he was a son of the late Joe, Sr. and Missie (Bryant) Walston.

He was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army until his discharge in 1945.

Willie worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot until retiring after 30 years of service.

He was a member and Elder of the Shawnee Presbyterian Church; and also belonged to the Gideon Lodge #145 F&AM;, RSVP (Retired Seniors Volunteer Program) and Monroe Elks Lodge #513.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald D. Walston and his wife Jennifer of Charleston, SC and Steven B. Walston and his wife Cynthia of East Stroudsburg; three grandchildren, Cametra, Marcus and Jaylayne; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Beatrice Mitchell of Pittsburg, CA and Lenora Higgs of Rocky Mount, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Willie F. Walston, Jr..

There will be a viewing from 11:30AM to 1:00PM on Saturday, December 20, at Shawnee Presbyterian Church, 1129 Shawnee Church Road, Shawnee On Delaware; where the service will begin at 1:00PM with Rev. Karl R. Viernstein, officiating. Burial will follow at Shawnee Presbyterian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to Shawnee Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 145, Shawnee-on-Delaware, PA 18356.

Jane Price Smith
(May 17, 1922 - December 3, 2014)

Jane Price Smith, 92, a resident of Pleasant Valley Manor in Hamilton Township, died Wednesday evening, December 3rd. She was the widow of Henry K. Smith.

Born on May 17, 1922 in Mountainhome, she was a daughter of the late Raymond, Sr. and Violet (Hallett) Price. Her father founded Ray Price Motors and was one of the founders of Skytop; and her mother served on the board of Pocono Medical Center for many years. Jane was a lifetime resident of Monroe County and graduated from Barrett High School. She lived in Sciota for over 20 years and was a resident of Hillcrest Retirement Community for many years before moving to Pleasant Valley Manor.

Jane worked in central supply at Pocono Medical Center.

She was a member of Neola United Methodist Church; a former member of Canadensis United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.

Surviving are her sister, Doris Price Fellows; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Spooner Price; nieces, Darcy Fellows Todia, Judy Fellows Froehlich, Lucy Lewellen Fellows, Nancy Price Bishop, Wendy Price and Meg Price Bruno; nephews, Raymond Price III, Walter Price, Richard Price, Jr., Christopher Price and Drew Price; and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Price, Jr. and Richard L. Price, Sr..

Graveside services and burial will take place in the spring at High Acres Moravian Cemetery in Canadensis.
