Arthur William Lyon, Jr.
(October 29, 1940 - August 13, 2015)
.
Arthur William Lyon, Jr. ("Junior", "Uncle Juney") passed from our hands to God's arms on Thursday, August 13. He was the 7th son of the late Arthur and Rena (Predmore) Lyon, and the beloved husband of Karen (Metzgar) Lyon. They would have celebrated 55 years of marriage this September 10.
He is also survived by his son Stephen Arthur Lyon of East Stroudsburg, daughter Courtney Michelle Weidlich, and son-in-law Barry Weidlich of Hartsville, TN; his grandchildren Jessica Weidlich of Nashville, Ryan Weidlich and his fiancé Rachael Stumpp of Sciota, Stephen Lyon Jr. of Delaware Water Gap, Lindzee Grace Lyon (Kyle Possinger) of Stroudsburg, and Kassidy Lea of East Stroudsburg, and his first great-grandson Brantley Stephen Possinger. He is further survived by three sisters, Mary Klingel, Nancy (Donald) Griffin, and Patricia Clause, and three brothers, Ronnie (Ann) Lyon, Harvey (Lois) Lyon, Clayton (Joan) Lyon, and sisters-in-law Dot Lyon and Sylvia Lyon. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Olive London, and brothers Roy, Richard and Floyd, and in-laws Art Klingel, Edward Clause, Donald London and Althea Lyon, and many other in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All his family have their own "Pop Stories" and "Junior Stories" to be passed on to future generations
Art retired in 1995 from AT&T-Lucent; Technologies, formerly Western Electric. He and Karen thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of their retirement together traveling north, south, east and west in their several motor homes. They were elated to take their 50th Anniversary trip to Norway, Paris and southern France. Sadly, their planned trip to Italy and return to Norway will remain a plan-in-progress.
Art, much like his father, had a certain reputation for fixing anything -- sometimes it was a unique Pop-Fix, sometimes it was a "one-step-too-far-Lyon" fix. All of which only add to the Pop Memories! His two loved grandsons learned by experience, hunting and working side-by-side with Pop out in the shed. His three special granddaughters and 11-month great-grandson each had their unique place in his heart and life. He provided go-carts, 4-wheelers, John Deere tractors and old cars and jeeps for fixing and playing. He lived a full and fulfilling life, beloved and respected by all who knew him. He was a huge chunk of all our lives and will be missed always.
Viewing hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, August 17, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA.
