John A. “Jack” Curtis, Sr., 71, of East Stroudsburg, died suddenly on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at home.
Born on May 30, 1945 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Albert and Laura (Brittain) Curtis and lived in Monroe County since 1970.
Jack served as a volunteer fireman for the last 44 years with Acme Hose Company #1 of East Stroudsburg.
He held multiple jobs through his life, most notably as one of the last tower operators of the Analomink Street railroad crossing, delivering milk for Penn Dell Dairy, dispatching emergency personnel at Monroe County Control Center, Wells Fargo Security and, lastly as parking enforcement officer for the Borough of East Stroudsburg before retiring in 2012.
Surviving are a son, John A. Curtis, Jr. and wife Kerrie of East Stroudsburg; four step-children, Robert Sawyer and wife Rose of Neola, Lenard Sawyer of Coolbaugh Township, Timothy Sawyer of Fort Worth, TX and Michelle Keil and husband Melvin III of Whitehall; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma Coburn and Sharon Sherwood both of Live Oaks, FL; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Meinhart) Curtis on November 3, 2012.
A celebration of life service will be held 2-4PM on Sunday, May 21 2017, in the fellowship hall at East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 83 South Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg. Cremation was private and burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.

Joan M. Sullivan
(November 22, 1929 - April 30, 2017)
Joan Sullivan, a long-time resident of the Stroudsburg area, died Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 87 years of age.
Born to Hannah (Ketreck) and Patrick Haggerty in 1929 in Dunmore, Joan, the youngest of five girls, was a studious child, always at the top of her class. After graduating high school she took a job working as a switchboard operator for Bell telephone. She marriage Donald Sullivan in her early twenties and they found their home in New Jersey where they went on to raise four children. Joan was a devoted stay at home mom. After raising her children she reentered the workplace, first with part time opportunities and then full time with New Jersey Manufacturers where she worked until her retirement.
Joan and Donald spent their retirement years in Stroudsburg. Joan’s greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her sweets, loved to read novels as well as magazines where she famously kept up with Hollywood gossip. Her sense of style is a gift she shared and passed on from generation to generation.
She is survived by four children, Elayne SanFelice and husband David of Stroudsburg, Donald Sullivan and wife Jane of Santa Anna CA, Linda Mayer and husband George of Washington DC, and Nancy Congdon and husband Edward of Verona NJ; eight grandchildren: Sara Bodman, Jessica Catoggio, Lindsay Smith, Eric Mayer, Amanda SanFelice, David SanFelice, Edward Congdon and Sean Congdon; and five great grandchildren: Braden Catoggio, Linley Catoggio, Emmeline Smith, Annabelle Smith and Nico Foster. Her husband Donald Sullivan predeceased her.
The visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30PM on Thursday, May 4, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Friday, May 5, at The Church of Saint Luke, 818 Main Street, Stroudsburg with Rev. Carmen Perry as celebrant. Private cremation will follow with burial at a later date at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Dunmore.

John G. Wolf
(November 8, 1953 - June 7, 2017)

John G. Wolf, 63, of East Stroudsburg, died suddenly on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at home. He was the husband of Roberta "Bobbie" (Stacy) Wolf with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.
Born on November 8, 1953 in Carrington, ND, he was a son of the late John A. and Delores (Suydam) Wolf. He was raised in North Dakota, lived many places throughout the United States and over seas while in the service, and lived in East Stroudsburg the past twenty years.
He served in the United States Army for 24 years and was a Desert Storm veteran. For the past 19 years he worked for the United States Postal Service.
John was a member of East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, George N. Kemp Post 346 American Legion, and Monroe County Bowling Association.
He enjoyed bowling, sudoku and Army football games.
In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons, Matthew and Timothy Wolf both of East Stroudsburg; three brothers, Richard, Paul and Kenneth Wolf; two sisters, Mary Eberhart and Bonnie Holm; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Harris.
The memorial service celebrating John's life and faith will begin at 3:00PM Sunday, June 11, at East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 83 South Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg with Rev. James Todd officiating. Cremation was private and burial will take place at a later date.

Sandra "Sandi" L. Warters
(October 1, 1956 - June 2, 2017)
Sandra "Sandi" L. Warters, 60, of Hamilton Township, died Friday evening, June 2, 2017 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late T.J. Warters.
Born October 1, 1956 in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of Charles M. and Audrey (Buck) DeHaven of Stroudsburg.
She worked for Kirt Oltmanns General Contracting in Bartonsville and Dreher Insurance Agency in Stroudsburg.
A lifetime resident of Monroe County, she was an active member of St. John's Evangelical Congregational Church in Bartonsville where she sang in the choir and helped with Vacation Bible School. Sandi was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1106 in Stroud Township.
In addition to her parents, surviving are a daughter, Sara Katchmere; a grandson, Tyler Wainman; a brother, Charles "Chuck" R. DeHaven; and her fiancé, Garnold Cramer all of Hamilton Township.
Memorial services will be at 2:00pm, Saturday, June 10, at St. John's Evangelical Congregational Church, 6014 Custard Road (village of Bartonsville), Stroudsburg with Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Cremation was private.

Audrie M. Rarick
(September 12, 1941 - May 21, 2017)
Audrie M. Rarick, 75, of Stroudsburg, passed away early Sunday morning, May 21, 2017 at Whitestone Care Center in Stroud Township.
Born September 12, 1941 in Jersey City, NJ, she was a daughter of the late William and Eleanor Knapp and lived in Monroe County for most of her life.
She retired from Laird Technology in Delaware Water Gap and was a well-known bartender throughout the area for over thirty years.
Audrie was a NASCAR and Miami Dolphins fan.
Surviving are a daughter, Kimberly Hilliard of East Stroudsburg; a son-in-law, Scott Hilliard of East Stroudsburg; two granddaughters, Tasha Otto and Jamie Otto and her fiancé Jacob Jones; three great grandchildren, Jacob, Makayla and Chassity; a sister, Laura Bartos; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Harry Knapp.
Cremation was private and a memorial service will take place at a later date In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Ruth A. Haymer
(February 15, 1931 - May 19, 2017)
Ruth A. Haymer, 86, of Stroud Township, died Friday morning, May 19, 2017, while under hospice care in her home.
Born on February 15, 1931 in Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Sr. and Mabel (Godshall) Groner and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.
Ruth retired from Al's Sportswear in Stroudsburg and then worked part-time at BonTon in Stroudsburg.
She is survived by four children; Cindy Stevenson and husband Kevin of Saylorsburg, Christopher S. Widdoss of Stroud Township, Carol Heller and husband Timothy of South Sterling, and Mary Morgan of Hamilton Township; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her two cats that she loved, Fifi and Bully. Ruth was preceded in death by two husbands; William Widdoss and Oscar M. Haymer, Jr.; a son, William Widdoss; and a brother, Jacob Groner.
Viewing will begin at 10:00am followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM on Tuesday, May 23, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. The Rev. Candy LaBar will officiate. Burial will follow at Stroudsburg Cemetery.
