Sylvia T. Linder, 78, of Canadensis, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, May 8, at Brookmont Health Care Center in Effort from a courageous and extended battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) . She was the widow of John E. Linder who died June 19, 2012.
Born June 19, 1937 in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Anslem and Catherine (Zyla) Thomas and was a resident of Monroe County for most of her life.
She was a graduate of Barrett High School and the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, and in her early years, worked as a registered nurse. Sylvia and her late husband owned and operated Linder's Hillside Lodge in Canadensis until their retirement in 1986.
She was a member of St. Bernadette's Church in Canadensis and a former volunteer with Barrett Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps..
Sylvia volunteered at the Nearly New Shop and enjoyed playing Bridge and golf. She enjoyed cooking and filled her spare time working part-time at Cook's Tour.
Surviving are two children, Brick Linder and his wife Judy of Canadensis and Leigh Linder of Thorndale; and two granddaughters, Samantha Linder of Fredericksburg, VA and Nicole Linder of Mozambique, Africa. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Thomas.
Memorial services will be held at 3 PM on Friday, May 13, at Mountainhome United Methodist Church with Rev. John Keretzman, officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date at Moravian High Acres Cemetery in Canadensis. There will be no viewing.

John Mascenik
(August 28, 1924 - June 12, 2016)

John Mascenik, 91, of Stroudsburg PA, died peacefully Sunday evening, June 12, 2016 at home of Critical Cardiac Stenosis. He was the husband of Dorothy (Lax) Mascenik with whom he shared 71 years of marriage as of June 8th, 2016.
They were marriage June 8, 1945 at the U.S.Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Born on August 28, 1924 in Perth Amboy, NJ, he was the son of the late Stephen and Catherine (Rusinak) Mascenik and the oldest of three children.
John was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1941 where he met his wife.
John received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland where he received a Bachelor of Science degree and his commission as a Naval Officer with the Class on 1946. His twelve years of Navy service included duty as a shipboard line officer and later as an engineer with the Civil Engineering Corps.
John served on the destroyer "USS Richmond"?at the end of WWII and also served in the Korean War.
John led a Navy Construction Battalion of Seabees in Korea in support of U.S Marines and received the Bronze Star with Combat "V" among other ribbons and awards.
The Navy sponsored his further technical education at Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY where he earned both a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Civil Engineering in 1949.
After the Navy John worked for Exxon Research and Development in Florham Park, NJ for over 25 years as a senior engineer and expert on marine installations and facilities. After he retired from Exxon John did some Consultant work.
John and Dot enjoyed traveling around the world and were also serious gardeners which included a working Garden Railroad in their backyard with beautiful landscaping.
They lived in many locations due to his Naval assignments and then made their home in Mount Tabor, New Jersey where they lived for 54 years.
Last October they moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to their daughter, Jan.
In addition to his wife, surviving are two children: Jan (Mascenik) Costanzo and her husband Charles of Pennsylvania and their son Richard J. Mascenik and his wife Patricia of New Jersey. They have five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by both of his siblings: Robert J. Mascenik formerly of Colonia, New Jersey and his sister Dorothy (Mascenik) Kahermanes formerly of California.
His final resting place will be at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Larry Giove, Jr.
(February 21, 1968 - June 21, 2016)
Larry Giove, Jr., 48, of Bushkill, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at home. He was the treasured husband of Miriam (Selsman) Giove with whom he shared 24 years of marriage.
Born on February 21, 1968 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the beloved son of Stephanie (Vitale) Giove of Staten Island, NY and the late Larry Giove, Sr.
He lived in Bushkill for the past 22 years and was an Entenmann's route salesman, as well as a member of Local #802 Teamsters Union. Larry will be sorely missed by family and friends. He was an old soul who will be remembered for his contagious laugh, fun spirit, and generous heart.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three children, Angela, Cristina and Anthony Giove all at home; a brother, Jeffrey Giove of Staten Island, NY; a sister and brother-in-law, Kerri and Paul Kennedy of Staten Island, NY.
Visitation will be from 10:00AM to noon and 2:00 to 3:00PM on Tuesday, June 28, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. The funeral service will begin at 3:00PM Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Virtue officiating. Cremation will be private.

Rose J. Bisbing
(April 22, 1943 - April 18, 2017)
Rose J. Bisbing, 73, of Hamilton Township, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Snydersville where she was a resident since 2012. She was the wife of Raymond A. Bisbing, Sr. with whom she shared 39 years of marriage.
Born on April 22, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Rose (Piazza) Lanza and lived in Monroe County for the past fifty years.
In addition to her husband, surviving are eight children, William Kohlmann and wife Judith of Arizona, Linda Rice and husband Randall of Stroudsburg, Joyce Wise of Stroudsburg, Nancy Kohlmann of Ridgecrest, CA, Susan Ressler of Port Ewen, NY, Raymond A. Bisbing, Jr. of Tennessee, Ron Bisbing of Stroudsburg, and Chad Fish of Stroudsburg; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Rosario Lanza of Palm Springs, CA; and nieces and nephews.
Viewing will begin at 10:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM on Monday, April 24, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. Hospice chaplain, Rev. Brian Nichols will officiate. Burial will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery in Shoemakers.
Alvesta "Chippy" M. Smallacombe

Alvesta "Chippy" M. Smallacombe, 84, a lifetime resident of Paradise Township, died Thursday morning, April 20, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospice House - Pocono in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of Dan Smallacombe II with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.
Born on February 19, 1933 at home in Paradise Township, she was a daughter of the late Clair and Loretta (Adams) Nauman.
In addition to her husband, surviving are a son, Dale Smallacombe and wife Kathi of Paradise Township; four granddaughters, Melissa Smallacombe, Brianna Walsh and husband Matt, Ashley Smallacombe and Andrea Smallacombe; a great grandson, Colin Walsh; a sister, LaVerne Peechatka of Jackson, VA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Dan Smallacombe; four sisters, Madeline Wescott, Carolyn Whitmore, Marjorie McWilliams and Annabelle London; and two brothers, Ronald Nauman and Lamont Nauman.
Viewing will be from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Monday, April 24, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. The funeral service will begin at 10:00AM on Tuesday, April 25, at the funeral home with Pastor Mertice Shane officiating. Burial will follow at Keokee Chapel Cemetery in Paradise Valley.
William Crouch

William Crouch, 59, formerly of Stroudsburg, died Saturday, April 29, 2017 at The Gardens at Easton in Easton where he was a resident since 2014.
Born on July 18, 1957 in Kansas City, KS, he was the son of Albert Lee Crouch and the late Margaret Mary Patricia (Connelly) Crouch.
Surviving are a sister, Ann Marie Jones; and a brother, Walter Crouch.
Private burial took place at Stroudsburg Cemetery.
