Susan Staton Hughes
(August 2, 1924 - January 16, 2015)

Susan Staton Hughes, 90, of Gilbert, passed away Friday morning, January 16, while under hospice care in her daughter's home. She was the widow of Ralph Hughes.

Born on August 2, 1924 in Swan Lake, MS, she was a daughter of the late James Harvey and Ruth (Parker) Staton and lived in Monroe County since 1970.

Susan is survived by a daughter, Kidren Smith of Hamilton Township; two grandchildren,, Megan Smith of Gilbert and Cody Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Tanner Casselman; two sisters, Elizabeth Yost and Mariana Wagner; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Douglas K. Smith and a brother, Harvey Staton.

There will be a visitation and time of sharing memories from 2:00 to 3:30PM on Saturday, January 24, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. Cremation was private and burial will be at a later date at Keller's Cherry Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to VNA Hospice of Monroe County, 502 VNA Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.

Stephen M. "Sonny" Clark
(December 8, 1959 - January 7, 2015)

U.S. Veteran
Stephen M. "Sonny" Clark, 55, of Stroud Township, found his way home to heaven on Wednesday, January 7th.

Born on December 8, 1959, he was a son of Thomas P. Clark of Marshalls Creek and the late Margaret (Phelan) Clark. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he was a graduate of Arch Bishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia and honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy.

He was a resident of Monroe County since 1978 and worked at Mimi's Streamside Cafe in Shawnee-on-Delaware and at Walmart in East Stroudsburg.

He enjoyed fishing and visiting casinos in Atlantic City; but his best times were spent with family and friends whom he loved dearly. He was a true Philadelphia sports fan.

In addition to his father, Stephen leaves behind three brothers, Thomas Clark and his wife Theresa, Christopher Clark and his wife Judy and Joseph Clark and his wife Deborah; a nephew, Thomas; and a niece, Anna Marie.

There will be a visitation for family and friends from 10:00 to 11:00AM Monday, January 12, at St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, 200 Brodhead Avenue, East Stroudsburg; where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM with Rev. Joseph Kutch as celebrant. Cremation was private and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial remembrances be made to St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, 200 Brodhead Avenue, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 or Homeless Day Center, 130 N. 1st Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

Linda A. Lanza
(August 28, 1945 - January 7, 2015)

Linda A. Lanza, 69, of Henryville, died Tuesday, January 7, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Hamilton Township.

Born on August 28, 1945 in Elizabeth, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Jacques M. and Selma (Sommers) Fedder and lived in Monroe County for the past 37 years.

She was an assistant manager at Rite Aid Pharmacy in Stroudsburg for many years.

Surviving are a son, Christopher Lanza of Henryville, and her former husband, Joseph R. Lanza of Swiftwater.

As per her wishes, there will be no services and cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to American Cancer Society, 2158 West Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

Edward R. Hardenstine
(February 27, 1924 - January 5, 2015)

U.S. Veteran
Edward R. Hardenstine, 90, of Stroudsburg, passed away Monday morning, January 5, while under hospice care in his home. He was the husband of Ella Mae (Dildine) Hardenstine to whom he marriage on November 1, 1946 and shared 68 years of marriage.

Born on February 27, 1924 in Stroudsburg, he was a son of the late David and Sophie (Michener) Hardenstine. He was a Stroudsburg High School graduate and a lifetime resident of Monroe County.

He was a United States Coast Guard Motor Machinist World War II veteran.

Ed was a retired supervisor from McGraw Edison and in his early years owned a beauty supply business, was an insurance agent and was a Heinz Sales Representative. After retiring he worked part-time at Stroudsburg Cemetery for many years.

He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stroudsburg where he served on many committees; was a member of American Legion and Phoenix Fire Police; was a fifty-year member of Phoenix Co. No 2 - Stroudsburg Fire Department; and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

Ed was an avid hunter; was mechanically inclined; and enjoyed bowling, golf and woodworking.

In addition to his wife, surviving are a daughter, Mary Lou Tompkins of Fernandina Beach, FL; a son-in-law, David Wyllie of Catasauqua; three grandchildren, David Wyllie of Catasauqua, and Ryan Tompkins and Katie LeClair both of Fernandina Beach, FL; three great grandchildren, Jocelyn Bryan-Wyllie, Hayley Bryan-Wyllie and Connor LeClair; a brother, William Hardenstine of Oakland, CA; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Hardenstine; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gerry Ann Wyllie on December 6, 2014; a son-in-law, Robert Tompkins and a brother, David Hardenstine.

Memorial services will take place at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial remembrances be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 9 North 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 or to Animal Welfare Society of Monroe (AWSOM), P.O. Box 13, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

Thomas Lapping
(May 15, 1962 - January 4, 2015)

Thomas Lapping, 52, of East Stroudsburg, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 4, at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.

Born on May 15, 1962 in East Stroudsburg, he was a son of June R. (Roth) Fish of Trinity, NC and John A. Lapping of Binford, ND.

He was a lifetime resident of Monroe County and worked as a plumber.

Tom was a hard worker who enjoyed fishing and loved his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he is survived by three children, Erin Shay and her husband Michael, Sarah Lapping and Tom Lapping all of East Stroudsburg; a brother, William Lapping and his wife Janice of Trinity, NC; two grandchildren, Michael and Christopher Shay; many nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Eileen Lapping of East Stroudsburg.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life from 2:00 to 6:00PM on Sunday, January 11, at Thomas P. Lambert Post 2540 VFW, 20 Fawn Road, East Stroudsburg. Cremation was private.

Christopher N. Isolda
(April 30, 1971 - January 3, 2015)

U.S. Veteran
Christopher N. Isolda, 43, of Bushkill, died suddenly on Saturday, January 3, at home. He was the husband of Susan A. (Beyar) Isolda to whom he marriage on September 14, 1995 and shared 19 years of marriage.

Born on April 30, 1971 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Louis and Judy (Cartieri) Isolda and lived in Bushkill since 2001 moving from Staten Island, NY.

He served in the United States Army and was a self-employed Screen Printer.

Chris was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Marshalls Creek; served on the board of directors of Pocono Ranch Lands; was active with the Bushkill Youth Association; and was an active parent of the East Stroudsburg School District.

He enjoyed playing softball.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Christopher, John and Joseph Isolda all at home: and several nieces and nephews, including Monica Garcia, Nancy Mazzola and Dominic Mazzola. He was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Garcia.

There will be viewing hours from 4:00 to 8:00PM on Thursday, January 8, and 9:30 to 11:30AM on Friday, January 9, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. A Catholic prayer service will begin at 11:30AM Friday at the funeral home. Private cremation will follow.
