Cheryl L. Weaver, 57, of Stroud Township, died Friday evening, May 19, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospice House in Bethlehem. She was the wife of Paul F. Weaver.
Born on June 22, 1959 in East Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of the late Marland "Pappy" and Marilyn "Cookie" (Miller) Papillon and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.
In earlier years she worked in the Monroe County Sheriff's Department and as a legal secretary for Muth & Zulick law firm in Stroudsburg.
Cheryl was a member of East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church and was very active with the Stroudsburg Area Music Supporters.
In addition to her husband, surviving are three daughters, Brianna, Nicole and Kristen Weaver all at home; a sister, Terri Herber and husband Wayne of Bethlehem; and a brother, Steve Papillon of Canadensis.
Visitation will begin at noon followed by the memorial service at 1:00PM on Saturday, May 27, at East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 83 South Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg. The Rev. James Todd will officiate. Cremation was private.

Ronald C. Strunk, Sr.
(July 26, 1940 - June 9, 2017)
Ronald C. Strunk, Sr., 76, of Analomink, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at Lehigh Valley-Pocono in East Stroudsburg. Born on July 26, 1940 in Analomink, he was the husband of Alice (Hardy) Strunk and the son of the late Samuel and Ruth (Ehrgood) Strunk. He was a lifetime resident of Analomink.
Ron was a member of the Moose Lodge #1336, Thomas P. Lambert VFW Post #2540, and the American Legion.
Ron epitomized the self-made man. He had a work ethic like no other. Along with his wife, Alice, he owned and operated Ron & Alice’s Tavern for many years. Ron also acquired many properties and was a land lord beginning at the age of 19.
Ron enjoyed spending time with his family and adored his four grandchildren who will miss him immensely.
Ron is survived by his two children, Brenda Klein and her husband, Donald and Ronald C. Strunk, Jr. and his wife Susan, all of Analomink; two brothers, Harold Strunk and Samuel Strunk, Jr. both of East Stroudsburg; his four grandchildren, Alissa Klein, Ronald C. Strunk, III, Kyle Klein and Jessica Strunk; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Strunk.
There will be viewing from 10:00 until 12:00 until the start of funeral services at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 West Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery.

Nehemiah "Jerry" Chambers

Nehemiah "Jerry" Chambers, 78, of Stroudsburg, died early Monday morning, March 6, 2017, upon arrival at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono in East Stroudsburg, after being stricken at home. He was the husband of Theresa (Davis) Chambers with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.
Born on November 30, 1938 in Rockingham, NC, he was a son of the late Preston and Anliza (Gould) Chambers. He grew up in Rockingham, NC and then lived in Brooklyn, NY from 1962 until 1998 when he and his wife moved to Stroudsburg.
He served in the United States Air Force and worked as a New York City Transit Police Officer from 1965 until retiring in 1985.
Nehemiah was a member of the New York City Police Council of Retired Guardians.
He was an avid New York Mets and New England Patriots fan.
In addition to his wife, surviving are a daughter, Tracey Bennett and husband Fred of Brooklyn, NY. He was preceded in death by a son, Stacey Chambers; a brother, Omax; and six sisters, Elsie, Eretha, Mildred, Creola, Otha Mae and Ecolua.
Viewing will begin at 1:00PM followed by the funeral service at 3:00PM on Saturday, March 11, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. Private cremation will follow.
James L. Smeltz

James L. Smeltz, 70, of Stroudsburg, died Thursday morning, November 23, 2017, at the Lehigh Valley Hospice House - Pocono in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Beverly J. (Crouse) Smeltz.
Born on August 11, 1947 in East Stroudsburg he was the son of the late Herman and Hazel (Fenstermacher) Smeltz and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.
Jim owned and operated Pocono Craft Studios and worked at Sears in Stroudsburg.
His true passion was art and he taught many students and his artwork is well known throughout the area.
Jim was a member of East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, Pocono Arts Council and many art groups in Monroe and Northampton Counties.
In addition to his wife, surviving are three children, Elizabeth Smeltz of Stroudsburg; Jennifer Silfee and husband Chip of Marietta, NY and their children Jessica, Amanda and Miranda and his great grandson, Jaxx; and David Smeltz and wife Patti of Easton and their children Tyler, Robert Madison and Evan; a sister, Hazel Fisher of Brodheadsville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Smeltz and Gerald Smeltz.
The memorial service will begin at 1:00PM on Tuesday, November 28, at East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 87 North Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg with Rev. James Todd officiating. Burial will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg.

Laura A. Borushak

Laura A. Borushak, 82, of Stroudsburg and a resident of Getz Personal Care Home in Kunkletown, died Thursday, November 23, 2017, upon arrival at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono in East Stroudsburg. She was the widow of William Borushak, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.
Born on November 15, 1935 in Clarks Summit, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Adelina (Grippo) Donvito.
She worked for Giant Markets in Chinchilla and Stroud Township and later owned and operated Country Candle Shoppe in Kresgeville.
Surviving are two children, Lori Borushak of Stroudsburg and Scott Borushak of Waymart; two grandchildren, Jamie Heller and Samantha Borushak; two great-grandchildren, Graydon Hoffner and Hailey Silfee; a sister, Edith Novak of Meshoppen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Fannie and her six brothers: Joe, John, Frank, Richard, Art, and Bill. Laura was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Heller.
The viewing will be from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Thursday, November 30, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. Funeral services will begin at 10:00AM Friday, December 1, at the funeral home with Rev. Eric Moser officiating. Entombment will follow in Mountainview Mausoleum at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.
Robert A. Demarest

Robert “Bob” A. Demarest, 81, of Tannersville, died suddenly on Friday evening, November 24, at home. He was the husband of Shirley Anne (Fields-Phillips) Demarest, formerly of Barbados, West Indies.
Born on October 20, 1936 in Hackensack, NJ, he was the son of the late James C. and Helen (Howard) Demarest formerly of New Milford, NJ.
Bob was an Army veteran stationed in Aschaffenburg, Germany, graduate of William Paterson University with a double major in Field Natural History & Biology and taught Earth & Space Science. He was instrumental in establishing soccer programs in his Army unit, Paterson College, Hackettstown H.S., and Pocono Mountain High School. He was a member of several historical societies, most notably the Millbrook Village Society, served diligently for many years on the Pocono Township Planning Commission and worked at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area as an Interpretive Park Ranger. He also taught for 36 years both in Hackettstown and Pocono Mountain.
Bob’s biggest pleasure besides spending time with his family and loving wife Shirley, to whom he was marriage for 57 years, was his love of wood-working and Genealogical Research. He simply adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, surviving are: three children, Daniel Demarest and wife Jodi of Tannersville, Jonathan Mark Demarest of South Carolina, and Laurie Lynn (Demarest) Jordan and husband Scott of Nazareth; seven grandchildren, Megan (Demarest) Ward and husband David, Ian Daniel Demarest, Marley (Demarest) Freeman and husband Michael, Sierra Lynn Jordan, Skyler Leigh Jordan, Campbell Faith Demarest, and Keegan James Demarest; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Michael Ward, Dani Rose Ward, and Arissa Brielle Freeman; a brother, Tom Demarest & wife Ellen of Corvallis, OR; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Demarest of Hawthorne, NJ; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Howard Demarest, formerly of Hawthorne, NJ; a sister, Marjorie (Demarest) Phillips and husband Tom formerly of East Greenville; and a granddaughter, Hannah Rose Demarest.
The visitation will begin at noon followed by funeral service at 2:00PM on Wednesday, November 29, at Reeders United Methodist Church, Route 715, Reeders. The Rev. Larry Mark will officiate. Burial will follow in Reeders Methodist Cemetery.
