Rosa A. Suarez de Jorge, also known as “Fufa” passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 21, surrounded by her family and five loving daughters. Born in Jacagua, Dominican Republic, and the youngest of ten children, she loved being the center of attention.

Everyone adored her ability to make friends easily. Always “the life of the party, ” she could weave a good tale, adding grand embellishments each time the story was told. In her youth, Rosa was an energetic equestrian and swimmer. She loved elegant clothing and worked at a shoe store where she began her life-long love affair with high heels. You could hear Rosa coming by the clicking sound of her high heels, which she wore well into her 80’s.

Rosa loved to dance and she met the love of her life, her late husband, Victor, at a dance. The photographer coaxed them to dance cheek to cheek; many of you have seen that beautiful photograph. Rosa and Victor glided across the dance floor for over 30 years with such grace and ease that others couldn’t help themselves but stop and watch them.

Rosa leaves a legacy of five strong, independent daughters: Rosa Jacoby, Angela Torres, Teresa Price, Jackie Oz and Josie Jorge and sons-in-law: Roy, Walter, Avi and Jimmy. Rosa was a wonderful sister, friend and wife as well as a fiercely protective mother and grandmother of 11 grandchildren, Bianca, Ariel, Ilan, Michael, Liat, Walter, Karina, Victor, Mia, Connor and Carter. Her grandchildren called her “Bella, ” short for Abuela. She will be missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews, and four surviving sisters, Villa Suarez, Angelita Ros, Zoila Lopez, and Josefa Gottschalk.

There will be a visitation on Tuesday, December 23 from 2:00 - 2:30pm followed by a funeral service at 2:30pm at the William Clark Funeral Home at 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Burial immediately following at Laurelwood Cemetery, 401 Bryant Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
