Roman A. Dina, 20 of Middle Smithfield Township, passed away on Saturday January 17th.
Born on August 30, 1994 in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of Vladimir and Athena Gonzalez-Dina of East Stroudsburg.
He graduated from East Stroudsburg High School South, worked at McDonalds, and attended Northampton Community College for Sports Management.
Roman began playing soccer when he was 5 years old with ESYA Intramurals, moved on to ESFC Travel Soccer, and then played high school soccer. After high school he was an Assistant Coach for his little brother’s soccer team. Roman loved soccer, played basketball, and liked snowboarding and skateboarding. He loved football; the Eagles was his team. He also loved Star Wars, history, and politics, playing his guitars, and writing songs.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his sisters Ashleigh, and Alyssa Dina; a brother Ethan Dina; grandparents, Ilynn and Carmelo Ruiz and Patricia Schmidt; great-grandmother, Iraida Colon; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
There will be viewing from 5:00 to 7:00PM on Friday, January 23, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. An additional viewing will be from 10:00 to 11:00AM on Saturday, January 24 at Light of the World Church, 114 Academy Drive, Minisink Hills; where the funeral service will begin at 11:30AM with Pastor Angelo Pierri officiating. Private cremation will follow the service.

Carmen Lea Claus
(February 13, 1931 - January 18, 2015)
Carmen Lea Claus, 83, a resident of Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem since December of 2013, passed away Sunday, January 18, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg, located in Bethlehem, PA, where her daughter Julia Cattaneo resides. She was the high-school sweetheart and widow of Joseph R. Claus who died November 25, 2013. Joseph and Carmen were residents of Stroudsburg, PA, until Mr. Claus’ passing. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage.
Born on February 13, 1931 in Toledo, OH, Carmen was the daughter of the late Michael and Josephine (DeAngelo) Gliatti, who owned and operated “Mike’s Upholstery Shop” in Point Place, Toledo. She graduated from Central Catholic High School and first worked at the Edison Building, along with her best friend, Lois Seiler, as an elevator operator. Thereafter, she went to work for Leo Marks Jewelers until marrying her husband Joe, her “Mighty Mouse and hero.
Carmen’s life combined unfailing care, kindness, and compassion for her many friends and family, excellence at her later place of employment, Picatinny Arsenal, Rockaway Township, New Jersey, where she received many commendations for outstanding performance, and a gracious acceptance of the increasing difficulties associated with a serious stroke suffered some 10 years ago.
Surviving Carmen are four devoted children, Julia Cattaneo, Jennifer Newsom, Joseph R. Claus, Jr. and his wife, Veronica and Jeffrey Claus; three loving grandchildren, Nick Cattaneo and his wife, Beth, Melissa Cattaneo Tran and her husband, Ty, and Cassandra Newsom and her daughter, Cameron, Carmen’s great grandchild. She is also survived by her two sisters, Mary Jane Carpenter and Sharon Zeberkiewicz and Sharon’s husband, Robert, as well as one brother, Edward Gliatti and his wife Anne.
Cremation was private and services will be held on Saturday, January 24th, in the Toledo area at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home on South Coy Road in Oregon, Ohio. Visiting and sharing of memories will be 1 to 3pm with service to follow. There will be a friend and family dinner gathering after the service.
Flowers or donations made in Carmen’s name to the American Stroke Association would be appreciated.
Thomas Goida
(April 23, 1951 - January 17, 2015)
On April 23, 1951 a son was born to Wash and Mary Goida in Coaldale, PA. His name, Thomas Goida.
On December 17, 2014 he was diagnosed with cancer and he vowed to fight it. Said he had to for his children and grandchildren.
On January 17, 2015 while surrounded by his loving family he lost that battle that he fought hard for a month. The angels lifted him home where he is now at peace and free from pain and suffering. He's now a guardian angel over his children; Shannon Marie Lutz and her husband Timothy, Ryan Thomas Goida, Stefani Marie Goida and her boyfriend William Ruscher. And the little loves of his life, his grandchildren Shane Patrick and Mackenzie Leigh Lutz.
Growing up he was an altar server and instilled that faith in his children. He attended school in the coal region and graduated from Panther Valley High School. Shortly after his family moved to Monroe County where he lived, worked and raised his family.
In addition to his children he is survived by his wife Kathy; his brother, John Goida, Sr. and his wife, Virginia, his sister-in-law, Patti Christman and her boyfriend, Butch; his mother and father in-law, Jack and Grace Walters; his aunt and uncle, Bernard and Josephine Hutta; his nephews, Shawn Christman and his wife, Bonnie and John Goida, Jr. and his wife, Christine; his nieces, Stacey Christman, Kristina Parton and her husband, Matthew, Elizabeth Christman and Heather Oberman and her husband, Stephan.
He was also blessed with great-nieces, Samantha Sawyer, Melissa Goida and Haley Christman; and a great-nephew, Jacob Christman.
He is also survived by many cousins, their children and their children's children.
He worked at Redmond Finishing when he moved to Monroe County. He later took a part-time job in the IGA Food Mart on Main Street in Stroudsburg and that job became his life's work as the store grew and expanded and changed hands and names to what it is today, Weis Markets. After many years in Mount Pocono he most recently worked in Pen Argyl.
There will be a viewing from 6:30 to 8:30PM on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. There will also be a viewing from 9:30 to 10:00AM on Friday, January 23, at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, 818 Main Street, Stroudsburg where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM with Rev. Carmen Perry as celebrant. Burial will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg.

Rafael Martinez
(May 16, 1933 - January 17, 2015)
Rafael Martinez, 81, of East Stroudsburg, passed away on Saturday evening, January 17, at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Donaldson) Martinez with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
Born on May 16, 1933 in Yauco, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Vincent and Angelita (Santiago) Mejias and lived in Monroe County since 2001.
He was a machinist having worked at Ultra Punch and Dye in Boonton, NJ.
Rafael was a member of East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church where he was known as the "coffee man". He also bowled on the Thursday morning league at Sky Lanes, enjoyed working out at the YMCA in Stroudsburg, and attending his grandchildren's sports activities.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four children, Joseph Michael Martinez of Tobyhanna, Donna Reviere of East Stroudsburg, Leslie Miechur of Stroudsburg and Jeffrey Martinez of Wanaque, NJ; eight grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Nerieda Santiago and Tayin Torres both of Puerto Rico. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Reviere.
There will be a viewing from 12:00PM (noon) to 2:00PM on Thursday, January 22, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg; where the funeral service will begin at 2:00PM with the Rev. James Todd officiating. Private cremation will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial remembrances be made to St. Jude's Hospital or Wounded Warriors.
Geraldine L. Houck
(October 30, 1930 - January 17, 2015)
Geraldine L. Houck, 84, of Stroud Township, died on Saturday, January 17, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest in Salisbury Twp. She was the widow of Harry W. Houck, Sr. who died December 21, 1999.
Born on October 30, 1930 in Sciota, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Lulu (Holdorf) Bardonnex and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.
She was a member of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church; International Ladies Garment Workers Union; Stroudsburg Women's Club and IKF & WKA race car organizations. She enjoyed going to races with her husband and spending time with family.
She is survived by a son, Charles Houck and his wife, Gail of Stroud Township; grandchildren, Harry, Catherine, Christian, and Charles II, and 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Norman Bardonnex; and two sisters, Frances Borger and Jeanette Mack; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Harry W. Houck, Jr. in 2013.
There will be a visitation from 9:00 to 10:00AM on Wednesday, January 21, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg; where the service will begin at 10:00AM with the Rev. Robert Shank officiating. Private burial will be at a later date at Green Ridge Cemetery in McIlhaney.
Aaron Landon Lollis
(October 3, 2014 - January 15, 2015)
Aaron Landon Lollis, infant son of Adam Lollis and Melissa Holland of Hamilton Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 15, at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
He was born on October 3, 2014 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest in Allentown.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by siblings, Adriana Meyers; Collin Meyers and Logan Meyers; aunts, Julia Carey and Sarah Carey; uncle, Thomas Carey; maternal grandparents, Thomas & Caroline Carey of Saylorsburg; and paternal great grandmother, Lena Staley of Pittston.
Visitation will be from noon to 2:00PM on Wednesday, January 21, at William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg; where the funeral service will begin at 2:00PM with Rev. Michael F. Quinnan officiating. Burial will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg.
