John F. Reimensnyder
(February 14, 1948 - April 6, 2012)

John F. Reimensnyder, 64, of Paradise Street, Watsontown, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012 at Geisinger Medical Center.

Born February 14, 1948 in Lewisburg, he was the son of Lois A. (Cotner) Reimensnyder of Muddy Run Road, Milton and the late Fillmore H. Reimensnyder.

He was marriage to the former Mary E. (Raup) Stugard on August 26, 1978 and they have celebrated 33 years of marriage.

A 1966 graduate of Milton High School, John retired from Con-Agra, Milton where he had worked over 40 years.

He loved being outdoors and gardening and was an avid Penn State Football fan, but most precious were the times he spent with his grandchildren.

Surviving besides his mother and wife are two daughters: Kimberly A. Aikey of Athol, Mass. and Kelly S. Gardner and her husband Richard, of Watsontown; six grandchildren: Cassandra, Erik, and Dustin Aikey and Ian, Brooke, and Jasten Lininger; a brother, James Reimensnyder and his wife Carolyn of Milton, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fillmore H. Reimensnyder on Sept. 13, 2000 and a granddaughter, Alexandra Aikey.

Friends are invited to call from 10 to 11:00 AM Tuesday at Friendship Baptist Church, 10 Voris Lane, Watsontown where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Jerry Caswell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at Church Street Station, PO Box 780, New York, NY 10008-0780 (www.michaeljfox.org) or to a charity of one’s own choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville.

Shirley N. Hartranft
June 09, 1921 - July 22, 2018

Shirley N. Hartranft, 97, formerly of East 11th Street, Watsontown, PA, died Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Watsontown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center where she had resided since March of 2014. Born Thursday, June 9, 1921 at Montgomery, Lycoming Co., PA, she was the daughter of the late Ammon R. and Clara G. (Kisner) Hoff.

Her husband, Philip F. Hartranft, with whom she had shared nearly 68 years of marriage, preceded her in death on June 30, 2008.

Shirley was a 1939 graduate of the former Montgomery-Clinton High School. She was employed as a hair stylist by the former Deb Paul Beauty Salon.

Shirley was a faithful member of the Clinton Baptist Church for over 75 years where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir for many of those years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald Hartranft of Watsontown, PA; Philip and wife Donna Hartranft of Montgomery, PA; Thomas and wife Carol Hartranft of Mahomet, ILL; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Fred Hoff and her sister, Roberta Kern.

Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family with David Jacobs, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be given in her memory to the Clinton Baptist Church, 60 Warren Street, Montgomery, PA 17752.

Rebecca L. Klinger

Rebecca L. Klinger, 56, of Watsontown, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born in Muncy on Aug. 25, 1952, she was a daughter of the late A. Larry Blaser and Ruth M. (LeVan) Blaser, who survives.

A 1970 graduate of Muncy High School, she also graduated from the State Beauty School in Williamsport.

Mrs. Klinger was a foster parent for 10 years, and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to her mother, of Muncy, are a son, Bryce Klinger; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Peggy LeVan and Freddie Lee and Donna M. Blaser, all of Muncy; three grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Larry Blaser, as well as her father.

At her request, a private service was held in Muncy Cemetery on Nov. 18, 2008. Officiating was the Rev. Bethany P. Wood, pastor of Bethany United Methodist Church, Hughesville.

The family was assisted by Grenoble’s, Muncy.

Aaron "Pete" Benfer
(May 29, 1932 - October 19, 2011)

Aaron W. (Pete) Benfer, Sr., 79, a resident of Watsontown, PA, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 in the Muncy Valley Hospital following an extended illness. Born in East Buffalo Twp., Union Co., PA, on Sunday, May 29, 1932, he was the son of the late Ammon and Beulah (Baker) Benfer.

Pete was the widower of Hazel S. (Derr) Benfer who preceded him in death on February 15, 2009.

He was employed in the maintenance department of the former J.C. Decker Co. at Montgomery, PA for over 57 years and was also the caretaker of Fairview Cemetery for over 57 years.

Pete was a social member of the Turbotville V.F.W. Post 8206, the Bower-Decker American Legion Post #251 at Montgomery and the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Co. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne F. and Virginia Benfer, Muncy, PA; Aaron W. and Azel Benfer, Jr., Muncy, PA; Harold E. and Taffy Benfer, Watsontown, PA; four daughters and one son-in-law, Sandra L. and Robert Hackenberg, Winfield, PA; Karen S. Tupper, Muncy, PA; Patty A. Miller, Montgomery, PA; Brenda Lee Price, York, PA. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Pete was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church, 41 West Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 22, 2011 with Reverend Richard M. Barner officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Clinton Twp., Lycoming County, PA. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the church. The family requests no flowers. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the Warrior Run Area Fire Department, 1125 Main Street, Watsontown, PA 17777 or to the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Co., 24 Montgomery Street, Montgomery, PA 17752.

Arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 E. Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA.

Frederick F. McCarty

Frederick F. McCarty, 72, of Eighth Street Drive, Watsontown, died Friday, December 24, 2010 at home.

Born June 15, 1938 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Clinton Frederick and Gertrude Marian (Fowler) McCarty. He and his wife of 55 years, the former Kay Sherman, were marriage Oct. 6, 1955.

Fred was a lifelong farmer and a past member of the former Warrior Run Young Farmers. He enjoyed being around farm machinery and attending farm machinery auctions. After retiring from the State Correctional Institute, Muncy, in 1988, where he worked in maintenance for 25 years, he continued farming in Turbotville until 2005 when the farm was sold.

He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville, and also maintained memberships in the Watsontown Masonic Lodge #401, F& AM and the Williamsport Consistory.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, David L. McCarty of China Grove, North Carolina; one daughter and son-in-law, Louella J. and Tim Rupert of Fort Mill, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Lori Earnest and her husband Jim of Millville, Daniel Sabath of Catawba, South Carolina, Joshua Sabath of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Stephanie Young of Watsontown; and his son-in-law, Max W. Young of Watsontown.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one daughter, Mary Young, who died in 2008, his Aunt Dorothy Strouse and his Uncle Cecil Fowler.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be his pastor, Rev. Erwin Roux. Burial will follow in Muncy Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family welcomes flowers; however, if desired, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 39 Paradise Street, Turbotville, PA 17772.
