Carl E. Beaver, 60, of Milton, died at home on Wednesday, January 21, 2009.
Born May 29, 1948 in Lewisburg, he was a son of the late Foster P. and Nora V. (Delcamp) Beaver.
He and his wife of 42 years, the former Shirley M. Homan, were marriage A 1966 graduate of Milton High School, he attended W.A.C.C. (now Penn College) where he received a degree in business management, and later earned a degree as a welding technician from Penn College.
For 30 years he was employed at ACF Industries, Milton, most recently as a welding engineer. Carl was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #171, Milton, and enjoyed hunting and woodworking.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Wayne E. Beaver of Milton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy M. and Michael Reynolds of Milton and Rebecca L. and R. Scott Renner of New Jersey; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold E. and Judy Beaver of Watsontown; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Elsie M. and Benjamin Jenkins of Watsontown and Mary E. Aikey of Dewart; and six grandchildren Curtis and Kevin Beaver of Mifflinburg Jacob Beaver of Milton, Nicholas and Hannah Reynolds of Milton and Joshua Renner of New Jersey.
He was predeceased by one grandson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. 2nd & St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Officiating will be Pastor Dave Jones of First Baptist Church, Milton. Burial will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery.
The family welcomes flowers; however, if desired, memorial contributions may be made to either Evangelical Hospice, One Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837, or the Lycoming Unit American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
Warren Hyde, Jr.
Warren “Phil” Hyde, Jr., 79, of 820 Main Street, Watsontown, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Bloomsburg on December 26, 1929, he was a son of the late Warren Phillip Sr. and Laura (Brace) Hyde.
His wife of 51 years, the former Lida H. Seriff, died September 7, 2007.
A graduate of Watsontown High School, Phil attended Lycoming College. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and served aboard the U.S.S. Consolation hospital ship.
Phil retired from J. C. Penney after many years of employment in display and advertising. Prior to his career with Penney’s he worked for the former L. L. Stearns in Williamsport.
He was a member of Third Street United Methodist Church in Williamsport.
Phil held a deep affection for horses and dogs (especially Pekinese). He owned numerous horses and, in 1946, rode in the first Penn National Horse Show in Harrisburg. Phil became a professional Ringmaster and Horse Show Rodeo announcer, as well as a professional trick roper. He attended many state fairs and shows and was a member of the Circus Historical Society, the Circus Fans of America and the Circus Model Builders.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen P. and Lauralea Hyde of Montoursville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marla J. and Brian Forsman of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Debra A. and James “Chip” Stanilla of Lebanon; and two grandchildren, Alexander J. Stanilla and Devlin Hyde.
In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Hyde, who died July 9, 1996.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Kenneth A. Geise, longtime family friend and pastor of Independent Bible Church, Northumberland. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
Memorial contributions may be made to your local S.P.C.A. or an animal shelter of your choice.
Richard W. Fisher
Richard W. “Dick” Fisher, 60, of 201 E. Ninth St., Watsontown, died Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Kramm Nursing Home, Watsontown.
Born March 4, 1948, in Lewisburg, he was a son of the late Franklin R. and Ruth (Wenrick) Fisher.
On July 3, 1982, he marriage Dick was a 1966 graduate of Warrior Run High School and attended Bloomsburg State College. He worked as a lab technician for more than 20 years at the former Warshaw Manufacturing Co. in Milton, later Runnerless Knits, until retiring in 2008.
He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watsontown.
Dick was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge # 1133, Danville, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge # 1208, Milton, the Sons of the American Legion, Watsontown and the 40/8 S.O.L Club, Milton.
He enjoyed bowling, camping, bingo, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. In addition, he was a fan of NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhart, and the Atlanta Braves.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 26 years are a daughter, Donna D. Cutchall of York; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jason T. Fisher of North Carolina and Curtis G. and Channa Fisher of Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Verna Fisher of Watsontown; three grandchildren, Nathaniel and Logan Cutchall and Cailey Fisher; and two beloved dogs, Katie and Allie.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Officiating will be his pastor, Rev. James H. Fladland, assisted by Rev. Douglas M. Eberly, pastor of Watsontown United Methodist Church.
The family welcomes flowers; however if desired memorial contributions in Dick’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, Lycoming County Unit, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701 or Farview Collie Rescue, 1035 Red Hill Rd., Port Trevorton, PA 17864.
Jeffrey Scott Ellis
SFC Jeffrey Scott Ellis, U.S. Army (Ret.)
Jeffrey Scott Ellis, 66, a lifelong resident of Watsontown, died of a heart attack on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg.
Born November 1, 1943, he was the son of the late Albert and Ruth (Stahl) Ellis.
Immediately following graduation from Warrior Run High School in 1961, Mr. Elllis enlisted in the U. S. Army and served until his retirement in 1983. During his service, he was stationed n Korea, Japan, Germany and Vietnam as well as a variety of posts in the United States.
Following his retirement, Mr. Ellis attended Bloomsburg University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology in 1986. He was a life member of the Muffley-Huff Post 8206 VFW, Turbotville, where he served on the Board of Directors and participated in parade functions and funeral honor guard details.
He is survived by a cousin, Gregory Adams, of Gaithersburg, MD.
Burial arrangements are pending and under the care of Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St. Watsontown.
Beatrice B. La Beau
Beatrice B. La Beau, 73, of 28 North St., Watsontown, died Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
Born August 31, 1935, in Taylor, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Dorothy (Stoner) Pelletier.
On January 19, 1953, she marriage Most of her life Beatrice worked as a bookkeeper at Ralph’s Grocery Store in California, until retiring in 1999. Recently she could be found making popcorn at the Watson Theatre, where she enjoyed socializing with people.
Her favorite pastimes included traveling, especially taking cruises to New England and passing by the Statue of Liberty. Beatrice enjoyed the company of her children and grandchildren, with whom she loved playing cards, games and doing crossword puzzles.
Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Deborah and Rick Whistler of Watsontown, Denice Howard of California and Rebecca and Larry Eleftheriou of Buena Park, CA; 6 grandchildren, Athena Berkheiser and her husband Troy of Mifflinburg, Jason Whistler and his wife April of Watsontown, and Stephen Munson, Scott Chandler, Chris Chandler and Melissa Chandler all of California; and 4 great-grandchildren, Philip, Tyler and Emma Berkheiser of Mifflinburg and Joshua Chandler of California.
She was predeceased by a sister, Doris Beaker.
Friends will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 16, at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., with Rev. Randall C. Fiske, pastor of Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, Mifflinburg, officiating.
The family will provide flowers and suggests memorial contributions in Beatrice’s name be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 175 Pine St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
