Anna Mae Kunkle

Anna Mae Kunkle, 82, of 1755 Housels Run Road, Montandon, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born August 26, 1927 in Danville, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Dora Rothermel. Her husband, Richard F. Kunkle, preceded her in death on November 2, 2001. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 18th.

Anna was a 1945 graduate of Danville High School.

She was an active member of the Winfield Baptist Church.

An excellent cook and baker, her holiday meals were always anticipated, as were her famous mini chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter fudge.

Surviving are a daughter, Christine English of Montandon; a sister, Elizabeth Bookmiller of Riverside; two grandchildren, Rick English and his wife Hilary of Muncy and Heidi English and her fiancé Kevin Woodruff of Montrose.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Mark R. Kunkle in 1989 and a brother Harold Rothermel in 2005.

Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the Winfield Baptist Church, 330 St. Rt. 304, Winfield, where her funeral will be held at 11:30. Officiating will be her pastor, Pastor Corey Mitchell. Burial will follow in Montandon Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions in memory of Anna’s always generous nature be made to: Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation, P.O. Box 96070, Washington, D.C. 20077-7000; Feed the Children, P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, OK 73101-0036 or Winfield Baptist Church, P.O. Box 156, Winfield, PA 17887.

Terry Lee Ryan II

Terry Lee Ryan II, 23, of 1390 Turbot Ave., Watsontown, passed away as a result of an accidental drowning Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Ft. Carson, Colorado, where he was stationed while serving in the Army.

Born September 15, 1986 in Lewisburg, he was the son of Terry L. and Sally A. (Reynolds) Ryan of Watsontown.

Terry enlisted in the U. S. Army on September 27, 2007 with the Rank of PVT/E-1. PVT Ryan attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC from October to December 2007, when he graduated. He was then transferred to Fort Leonard Wood, MO, where he attended the Heavy Vehicle Driver Advanced Individual Training Course, graduating in February 2008 and earning a promotion to PV2/E-2. PV2 Ryan was then stationed at Fort Carson, CO with A Co, 204th BSB, 2nd BCT, 4th ID and promoted to PFC/E-3 in September 2008. He served in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom from August 2008 to August 2009, and received another promotion to SPC/E-4 in September 2009. SPC Ryan was awarded the Army Commendation Medal (2 awards), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon.

Terry was a member of the Sterling Run Sportsman Association near Emporium and a member of the Clyde F. Mowrer American Legion Post #323, Watsontown.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fast cars, video games and spending time with his children. Terry was very excited about the birth of his first niece due on September 15th, his birthday.

Surviving in addition to his parents are a son, Braden C. Ryan of Williamsport; a daughter, Raelynn M. McCarty of Williamsport; a sister, Tiffanni M. Ryan of Watsontown; his paternal grandmother, Eleanor Ryan of Milton; his maternal grandmother, Bertha Reynolds of Watsontown; five aunts, Sandra Craig and Joani Bower both of Watsontown, Georgie Dymeck of Williamsport, Mary Killian of Delaware and Brenda Miller of Pottsgrove; and two uncles, Donald Reynolds of Watsontown and John Reynolds of Georgia.

He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Donald Reynolds and Bruce E. Ryan, and an uncle, Robert Reynolds.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 3rd at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St. Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Officiating will be Rev. Max W. Furman, chaplain for the 28th Division, Indiantown Gap. Burial with full military honors will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society, Lycoming Unit, 1948 East Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701 or to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 55 S. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17109, please put Terry’s name in the memo.

Cyrus L. Bennett

Cyrus L. Bennett, 71, of 69 Filbert St., Milton, died Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born April 20, 1939 in New Columbia, he was a son of the late Wilbert and Frances (Campbell) Bennett. He and his wife of 43 years, the former Joy E. West, were marriage on March 18, 1967.

Cyrus was employed at Pennsylvania House Furniture, Lewisburg for over 30 years in various departments including finishing, cabinetry and chair making. He had previously worked at Jasper Wood Products, Watsontown.

Cyrus enjoyed old country music and western movies.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Grace L. Bennett of PA, Kathy F. and Chris Walter of New Columbia, Pamela L. and Todd Getz of Watsontown and Heather J. and Randy Ulrich of Sunbury; a sister, Arlene J. Geiswite of Sunbury; eight grandchildren, Gerald Stock, Jr., Sheri Stock, Christopher Stock, Brent Stock, Sonja Walter, Ian Walter, Clayton Getz and Cyrus Ulrich and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, John Bennett.

Friends will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where a funeral will be held at 7:00 p.m. Officiating will be Major Ray and Major Ruth Bartholomew, of the Salvation Army, Milton.

Burial will be held privately in Highland Cemetery, New Columbia.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, PA 17777 to help defray the funeral costs.

Laura Melissa Reitmeyer

Laura Melissa Reitmeyer, 89, of 806 Ash Street, Watsontown, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at her residence.

Born July 8, 1920 in Watsontown, she was a daughter of the late Robert Emmanuel and Laura Edna (Kessler) Whitmoyer.

She and her husband, Don Lewis Reitmeyer, Sr., were marriage on Sept. 26, 1941. They shared 51 years together until his death on July 20, 1993.

A 1938 graduate of Watsontown High School, Laura worked as a supervisor for Dutch Maid and later was employed by Villager Real Estate as a rental manager. She retired in 1995 after 12 years as a Certified Nurse Assistant with Kramm’s, Watsontown.

Laura was a lifetime member of the Watsontown United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and solving word-find puzzles, and had developed quite a taste for chocolate. She loved spending time with her family.

Surviving are two daughters, Melanie Ann Werni and husband, Joe, of Watsontown and Debra C. Bieber of New Columbia; her last surviving sister-in-law, Emagene Whitmoyer of Selinsgrove; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Don L. Reitmeyer II, who died July 26, 1993; one brother, Robert (Bud) Whitmoyer; and four sisters, Geraldine McCollum, Helen Bieber, Isabel Lovett and Grace Rhone.

Friends will be received Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown. A celebration of life gathering will be held Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. at White Deer Park. There will be a short prayer led by her minister, Pastor Douglas M. Eberly, followed by a time of fellowship and food. Please bring a covered dish to share. Burial in Watsontown Cemetery will be held at a later date.

The family welcomes flowers; however, if desired memorial contributions may be made to SUN Home Health & Hospice, 61 Duke St., P.O. Box 232, Northumberland, PA 17857.
