Bruce Whitmore Schnure, 98, of 14 West Third St, Watsontown, died Sunday, July 29, 2012 at the Evangelical Community Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born April 4, 1914 in Laurelton, a son of the late Nevin and Ethel (Bogenrief) Schnure. He marriage the former Myrtle Hironimus and they celebrated 70 years of marriage until her death in 2005.
He was a graduate of Hartley Township high school. He started his working career at the Laurelton Foundry and later transferred to the Watsontown Foundry where he served as the Superintendent for many years.
Bruce was a longtime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watsontown. He was also a member of the Watsontown Masonic Lodge #401 F&AM for 63 years, the Keystone Rod & Gun Club, and a member of the Watsontown Lions Club where he received the Melvin Jones award for outstanding humanitarian services, was past president and treasurer, received Lion of the year award in 2003, and had 58 years of perfect attendance. Bruce had a chance to try out for the Phillies and Cardinals professional baseball teams, but declined because of his loyalty to his wife and family whom he loved spending time with. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing.
Surviving are one son, Karl Schnure of Wyalusing; two grandsons and one granddaughter-in-law, Ron Schnure of Wyalusing and James and Carolyn Schnure of Le Raysville; one sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Robert Dluge of Elysburg; two great-granddaughters and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by one son, C. Eugene Schnure; and three brothers, Bill, Kenneth and Dean Schnure.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to Noon, Thursday, August 2, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 Main St., Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at Noon with his pastor, the Rev. James H. Fladland officiating.
A Masonic Service will be held at graveside following the committal in Watsontown Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 Main St., Watsontown, PA 17777.
The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, Watsontown.
J. Wayne Keiser
J. Wayne Keiser, 88, of 2140 Turbot Avenue, Watsontown, passed away Friday, August 31, 2012 at his residence.
He was born May 20, 1924 in West Milton, a son of the late John W. and Jennie S. (Raisch) Schooley Keiser. On August 25, 1990 he marriage the former Marjorie Kisner, who survives. Together they celebrated 22 years of marriage.
Wayne was a 1942 graduate of Watsontown High School and then served in the U.S. Army as a member of the 8th Armored Division, 88th Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron E Troop. He served in the European Theatre and also in Austria during the Korean Conflict and finished his military duties as a member of the Army Reserves until 1953.
He was employed in the machine shops at both Avco, Williamsport and ACF, Milton. From the mid 1970’s into the 1980’s, he owned and operated the Watson Inn for 9 years. Wayne retired in 1989 after 33 years of service to the United States Postal Service in Watsontown. He began as a mail carrier and ended his career as assistant to the postmaster.
Wayne worshiped for more than 50 years at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watsontown.
He was a life member in several social and fraternal organizations including, Clyde F. Mowrer American Legion Post #323, Watsontown, Muffley-Huff Post #8206, V.F.W., Turbotville, BPOE (Elks) Lodge #913, Milton, Danville Elks Lodge #754, Mifflinburg Moose Lodge #1396, Watsontown Masonic Lodge #401 F&AM, Irem Shriners, Dallas International and the Williamsport Consistory.
An avid baseball player and Phillies fan, Wayne played semi-pro ball for the Watsontown Senators in the 1940’s and 1950’s. He was also involved in managing and sponsoring area baseball teams. Over the years attending Penn State football games was a favorite pastime.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Phyllis Keiser, of Lewisburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Kristie and Gordon Lee, of Mifflinburg; eight grandchildren, Troy (Sandy) Keiser, Bradley (Kim) Keiser, Justine (Todd) Sellers, Julie (Stanley) Salsman, Jennette Keiser, Ethan S. Lee, Braden E. Lee and Jaron W. Lee; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by four half-brothers, Jacob Keiser, Harvey Keiser, C. Ellwood Schooley and Donald Schooley and one great-granddaughter, Katie Irene Salsman.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 3 at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 Main Street, Watsontown, officiating will be Pastor James H. Fladland. Burial with full military honors will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
The family welcomes flowers; however, if desired, memorial contributions may be made to either the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 Main St., Watsontown, PA 17777 or the Warrior Run Area Fire Department, P.O. Box 8, Watsontown, PA 17777.
William "Bill" E. Knorr
William "Bill" E. Knorr, 50, of 6 Vincent Ave., Watsontown, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 6, 1962 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late William C. and Mary (Doran) Knorr. On March 28, 1997 he marriage the former Angela Hopple, who survives. Together they celebrated 15 years of marriage.
Bill was a high school graduate and worked as a truck driver for Con-way.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed driving truck as well as working on projects around his home. Most importantly, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Shannon Knorr of Watsontown; one brother, Tony Knorr of Bloomsburg; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Tammy and Randall Drumheller of Catawissa, Terri Walter of Bloomsburg and Tracy and Keith Shaffer of Danville; his mother-in-law, Mary Steele of Watsontown; one brother-in-law, James Hopple of Watsontown; one sister-in-law, Linda Hopple of Watsontown; one aunt, Beverly Rinker of Bloomsburg; two grandchildren, Tierney and Jaycee Rhoades; and Sarah (Cory) Laubach and her son Dylan whom he considered his daughter and grandson.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sons, Michael Brandon Knorr and David Ross Knorr.
There will be a graveside service at Noon on Saturday, September 15 in Watsontown Cemetery. Officiating will be pastor Ryan Krauss of Watsontown United Methodist Church.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Union County Unit, 57 Reitz Blvd. Suite 102, Lewisburg, PA 17837

Warren Hyde, Jr.
Warren “Phil” Hyde, Jr., 79, of 820 Main Street, Watsontown, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Bloomsburg on December 26, 1929, he was a son of the late Warren Phillip Sr. and Laura (Brace) Hyde.
His wife of 51 years, the former Lida H. Seriff, died September 7, 2007.
A graduate of Watsontown High School, Phil attended Lycoming College. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and served aboard the U.S.S. Consolation hospital ship.
Phil retired from J. C. Penney after many years of employment in display and advertising. Prior to his career with Penney’s he worked for the former L. L. Stearns in Williamsport.
He was a member of Third Street United Methodist Church in Williamsport.
Phil held a deep affection for horses and dogs (especially Pekinese). He owned numerous horses and, in 1946, rode in the first Penn National Horse Show in Harrisburg. Phil became a professional Ringmaster and Horse Show Rodeo announcer, as well as a professional trick roper. He attended many state fairs and shows and was a member of the Circus Historical Society, the Circus Fans of America and the Circus Model Builders.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen P. and Lauralea Hyde of Montoursville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marla J. and Brian Forsman of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Debra A. and James “Chip” Stanilla of Lebanon; and two grandchildren, Alexander J. Stanilla and Devlin Hyde.
In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Hyde, who died July 9, 1996.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Kenneth A. Geise, longtime family friend and pastor of Independent Bible Church, Northumberland. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
Memorial contributions may be made to your local S.P.C.A. or an animal shelter of your choice.
