Sauers
Eleanor M. Sauers of Baldwin borough died Nov. 11, 2002. The wife of the late William Sauers, Mrs. Sauers is survived by her daughters, Linda Murray and Darlene; grandchildren Eden Hickman and Brett Schuring and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sauers was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Helen Fontaine, and her sister, Rita Vogel. Friends were received at John F. Slater Funeral Home in Brentwood. Hulley
Dr. William C. Hulley Jr. of Whitehall died Nov. 30, 2002. He was 83. After serving as a Navy lieutenant in World War II, Dr. Hulley graduated the University of Pittsburgh's school of medicine in 1944. He practiced medicine in Carrick from 1947 until his retirement in 1999. Dr. Hulley was honored by the American Medical Association for 52 years of service to his community. He is survived by his wife, Olga; his sons, Dr. William C. Hulley III and John Michael Hulley; and daughters Mary Beth Karlek and Susan Rose Mickens. He also is survived by six grandchildren. A memorial service was held at the Baldwin Community Methodist Church.
Janks
Emily M. Janks of Pleasant Hills died Dec. 5, 2002. She was 84. Mrs. Janks was the wife of the late Samuel L. Janks. She is survived by her sisters, Ann Louise Kearns and Margaret Walters, and her brother, Anthony F. Giovanelli. There was no public visitation. A blessing service was held earlier this week at the John F. Slater Funeral Home in Brentwood.
Tichansky
Evalyn Tichansky of Baldwin died Dec. 6, 2002. She was 79. Mrs. Tichansky was the wife of the late Peter Tichansky. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Prior and Janet Baughman; and her son, Peter Tichansky. She also is survived by her sisters, Edith Mae Dolinar and Dolly Benton, and her brother, Buddy Jones. In addition, Mrs. Tichansky is survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home in Brentwood. Hartner
Roy Hartner Sr. of Brentwood died Dec. 22, 2002. He was 69. Mr. Hartner is survived by his wife, Mary; his sons, Ben and Scott; and his daughters ' Marta Drevitch, Mary Beth Nobs and Kim Hartner. Mr. Hartner also is survived by his brother, Jim. A viewing will be held at John F. Slater Funeral Home in Brentwood today (Thursday) and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral prayer will take place Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and a Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Sylvester Church.
Flannery
Jean Flannery (Ridgway) of Brentwood died on Thursday, April 22, 2003. She was 83. Mrs. Flannery is survived by her sons Joseph and Jeffrey; her sisters Mary Frances Ridgway and Margaret Fisher; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. O'Toole
Mary 'Marge' O'Toole of Brentwood died May 2, 2003. She was 101. Mrs. O'Toole is survived by her son, William J. O'Toole, and her daughter, Arlene Green. She also is survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Friends and family were received at the John F. Slater Funeral home and mass of Christian burial took place at St. Sylvester's Church.
Bonidie
Theresa (Strange) Bonidie of Brentwood died June 8, 2003. She was 63. Mrs. Bonidie is survived by her son Donald; her sister Catherine Jurs; her grandchildren Donald, Timothy and Brian; and her great-grandchildren Victoria, Haley and Emily. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at John F. Slater Funeral Home.
Urquhart
Melvin Francis Urquhart of Brentwood died July 11, 2003, while trying to save one of his grandchildren from drowning in the waters of York Harbor in Maine. He was 68.
Mr. Urquhart was celebrating his 50 years of marriage to Rita Urquhart with their family the day of the tragedy. Mr. Urquhart suffered from heart failure after jumping into the choppy waters of the harbor to try to save his grandson.
The grandson was helped to shore with the aid of his father and survived the accident.
Mr. Urquhart, who was known as 'Jabo' to his friends, is survived by his wife and his sons ' Melvin Jr. of Cave Creek, Ariz.; Michael of Redding, Conn. and Charles of Bridgeport, Mass.
He also is survived by his sister, Glenna Falce; his brothers, Fred and Almon; and six grandchildren.
Mr. Urquhart was a football coach at St. Sylvester's Catholic grade school. He had served as a county constable and worked for Jones and Laughlin and LTV steel corporations for more than 40 years.
In recent years Mr. Urquhart had split time between his Brentwood home and Estero, Fla.
Funeral arrangements were handled by John F. Slater Funeral Home in Brentwood.

Hoelzle
Wayne Hoelzle of Baldwin died on Feb. 10, 2003. He was 64. Mr. Hoelzle is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Sprague; his children, Brian and Wendy McCall; his stepchildren, Joseph, John, Catherine and Gregory. Edward Gregor of Baldwin
Edward J. Gregor, 75, of Baldwin borough died on Feb. 22, 2003. He was 75. Mr. Gregor is survived by his wife, Theresa. He also is survived by his sons, Martin, Douglas, John, Daniel and Kenneth; his step-children, Francis Weber, Stephen Weber, Mark Weber and Linda Sherwood; his brother Charles and 18 grandchildren. Mr. Gregor recently retired after 52 years with Otis and Marshall elevator. Services will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home today (Thursday) at 10 a.m.
Thaddeus Moskal of Whitehall
Thaddeus Moskal of Whitehall died March 5, 2003. He was 77. Mr. Moskal is survived by his children, Ted, Pat and Matt; his brothers, Joseph and Stanley; and his sister, Helen Jahn. Antoinette LaBarbera, resident of Baldwin
Antoinette 'Toni' LaBarbera of Baldwin died on Friday, Aug. 15, 2003. She was 78. Mrs. LaBarbera is survived by her husband, Frank and her children Rose Hoffman, Anthony LaBarbera and Frank LaBarbera. Her sister Mary Falkner, brother John Argentieri, and seven grand children also survive her. Friends received Mrs. LaBarbera at the John F. Slater Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was performed on Monday, Aug. 18, at St. Elizabeth Church.
Tope
Zacarias G. Tope of Whitehall died on Nov. 18, 2003.
He was 95.
Mr. Tope, who was known as 'Bud' to his friends and family, was originally from Ozark, Mo.
He is survived by his children Kenneth, Ronald, Gregory and Christina Kelly.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Tope spent 30 years in the Navy and served during WWII and the Korean War.
He was also a lifetime member of VFW Post #6758 in Nixa, Mo.
Bagshaw
Elizabeth S. Bagshaw, A retired principal and teacher from the Baldwin-Whitehall school district, died Dec. 31, 2003. She was 94.
Mrs. Bagshaw worked for the school district for 45 years before she retired in 1975. She had lived in Baldwin borough.
Mrs. Bagshaw is survived by her children, Gary Bagshaw and Gail Allen; her grandchildren, Kimberly Wakefield and Robert Bagshaw; and her siblings ' Ann Span, Michael Schuster, George Schuster, Helen Moran, Susan Holt-schneider and Theresa Votsak.
Her husband, Laurence, and her sister, Mary Girman, preceded her in death.

Sokac
Walter 'Sox' Sokac Sr., a former Brentwood resident, died January 12, 2004.
Mr. Sokac is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine 'Kit' Fabbio Sokac and their children ' Kathleen Murray, Mary Kay (Denny) Hess, Cindy (Steve) Franceschi, Sandra (Jack) Michalski, Walter (Janis) Sokac Jr. and Melissa (Paul) Stadelman.
Mr. Sokac also is survived by his sister, Dolores Shea, and 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home in Brentwood. A funeral prayer was scheduled for this morning (Thursday) at 9:15 with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Sylvester Church at 10.

Harry Drost of Brentwood, a retired rigger at J&L Steel, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004. He was 89. Mr. Drost was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Tush Drost. Elphinstone
Paul Elphinstone of Brentwood, a retired warehouse foreman in the trucking industry, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004. He was 88. Mr. Elphinstone is survived by his wife, Eleanor; son, Paul; sisters, Ruth Adley and Audrey Stevernagel; grandchildren Paul and Mark Elphinstone and Kris Olander; and great-grandchildren Jordan, Matthew, Troy and Jenna. The funeral was handled by John F. Slater Funeral Home in Brentwood and burial was at Mt.Lebanon Cemetery.
James Obringer
James R. "Whitey" Obringer of Bethel Park, formerly of Brentwood, died Aug. 29 [2004] at the age of 41.
Mr. Obringer was the son of Richard and Judy Obringer; brother of Joyce (Ken) Scott, Thomas (Jeannie), David (Jackie), Carol (Dave) Verbick and Linda Obringer; uncle of Adam, Bethany, Alex, Cory Kirsten, Andrew and Eric; also survived by many loving friends and relatives.
Mr. Obringer was a member of Steamfitters Local 449 for more than 20 years.

Mr. Laux was the husband of Doris Laux; father of Charl Laux, Raymond (Sandra) Laux Jr., Lynn Knechtel, Betty (John) Erny and Susan Laux-Franz; grandfather of Debbie Toothman, Melissa Knechtel, Damon Franz, Raymond Erny and Lindsey Franz; great-grandfather of Deryn and Nathan Toothman; brother of the late Philip James and Alberta Laux.

Jack Carletto
Jack Carletto of Brentwood died Sept. 9, 2004, at the age of 90.
Mr. Carletto was the husband of the late Cecelia B. (Wojciechowski); father of Barbara Jo (Edward) DeMeo, and Mary Ellen (Donald) Brancolini; brother of the late David and Charles Carletto, Madeline Frederick and Olga Harrington; brother-in-law of Louise Carletto; grandfather of Douglas DeMeo, Christine (David) Vero, Michelle and Laura DeMeo, Gina (Lyle) Core, Scott and Jeffrey Brancolini and Tricia (Dan) Foley; great-grandfather of Brandi and Ethan Core and Cecelia Foley.
Mr. Carletto was awarded the Silver Star for action in The Battle of the Bulge with the 41st Armored Infantry Regiment in Germany during World War II. For this act of bravery, he was inducted into the Hall of Valor of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial all museum in 1990.
Mr. Carletto was the active Officer of the Day for Post 1810 until recently and participated in the annual July 4 and Memorial Day services.
Brentwood Borough honored him as marshal of the 2000 July 4 parade.

Daniel Carapellucci
Carapellucci, Daniel. On the eve of his 92nd birthday, our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 16, 2004. Dan, a general contractor and owner of the D. Carapellucci Company, loved Western Pennsylvania and leaves a proud legacy through his lifelong contributions to Pittsburgh and the surrounding communities. Born in Brentwood, PA, on November 17, 1912, he graduated from Carrick High School and attended Carnegie Institute of Technology. In his youth, he was an accomplished football player and swimmer, and was also known locally for being a semi-professional boxer in his early adult years. Dan lived in South Park, PA, from 1951 through 2003, when he relocated to Fort Walton Beach, FL, to be cared for by his daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Warner Carmichael. Dan worked for 52 years in the family company, a commercial and utility construction business. He was responsible for building more than 30 schools and churches in Western Pennsylvania. The D. Carapellucci Company also installed hundreds of miles of water line in the Western PA area, working hand-in-hand with the PA American Water Company since the early 1920s. In addition, he achieved statewide recognition as a leader in utility construction, serving as a long-term board member and 1975 president for the Western Pennsylvania Utility Contractors Association. Dan also served as a board member of the National Utility Contractors Association for many years and was its national president in 1982. Dan was an Eagle Scout and a leader in the Boy Scouts of America in the 1950s. He was also a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus. During all of these very active years, the D. Carapellucci Company sponsored a championship duckpins bowling team that twice set the world record for total pins accrued by a team during season play. Dan built the Nativity Catholic Church, school, and rectory, and was a dedicated member of this parish for over 40 years. He was an enthusiastic and faithful fan of his beloved Steelers, Pirates, and Duquesne Dukes. Additionally, he was an avid poker, pinochle, and bridge player, and enjoyed bowling, golfing, and gardening throughout his life. Dan was a loving and giving man. He took great pleasure in giving to others and never sought to be recognized for his generosity. In his 92 years of living on this earth, he touched many lives and made this world a better place. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and his light will continue to shine through those he loved. Preceeded in death by his first wife, Lillian Ceresa Carapellucci in 1982, and by his second wife, Mary Manko Carapellucci in 2001, Daniel is survived by his children: Linda (Paul) Rusinko of Bradenton, FL, Arlene (Warner) Carmichael of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Daniel (Annette) Carapellucci of Vail, AZ; his stepchildren: Andrew (Winifred) Manko of Pittsburgh, PA, and Ellen Manko of Santa Cruz, CA; his grandchildren: Marylynn Rusinko, Michele Rusinko, Colin (Lori) Lipnicky, Paula (Brian) Morrison, Garett (Diane) Lipnicky, Marc (Michelle) Rusinko, Darryl (Kimberly) Lipnicky, and Melissa Lipnicky; great-grandchildren: Britney and Paul Morrison, Abigail Lipnicky, Ethan Lipnicky, and Peter Joe Calogero; sisters: Kay McCormack and Jean (Sam) Frank; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
