Milton E. Reid, 53, of Coraopolis, died Wednesday, Nov. 20 [2002] at his residence.
He was born Sept. 11, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio, a son of Dr. Robert Henry Reid Jr., of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Margaret Jean Stewart Upthegrove, of Utica, N.Y
Reid worked for U.S. Airways for 29 years as a lead inspector and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Coraopolis.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and received a national defense service medal.
Reid was an avid softball player for many teams in the area ' including the Sewickley Legion where he was a member.
Survivors include: two daughters, Melanee Y. White Reid, of Coraopolis, and Dionne M. Reid and her fiancee, Larry Faulkner, of Coraopolis; two brothers, Robert Reid III, of Raleigh-Durham, N.C., and Joseph Reid, of Utica, N.Y.; one daughter, Sheridan Reid Banks, of Nashville, Tenn.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a step-father, Rev. Franklin Upthegrove.

George V. Richmond, 70, of Hopewell Township, died Tuesday, Nov. 19 [2002], at his residence.
He was born Sept. 4, 1932, in Dallas, W.Va., to the late Elmer R. and Gladys M. Baldwin Richmond.
Richmond was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. She was a member of Hopewell VFW and Glenwillard United Methodist Church.
He retired from Columbia Gas Co. in 1992 after 36 years of service as district accounting supervisor.
Survivors include: his wife, Carol S. Bishop Richmond; one daughter and son-in-law, Kelly Lion and her husband, Wallace, of Moon; three daughters, Julia Winter, of Scottsdale Ariz., Carolyn Pettit, of Florida, and Susan Richmond, of Columbus, Ohio; four brothers, Wayne Richmond, of Sarasota, Fla., John and Raydean Richmond, both of Fort Worth Tex., and James Richmond, of Wheeling, W. Va.; and a grandson, Brandon Wallace Lion.

Katheryn A. 'Aunt Kitty' Toth died Sunday, Nov. 17 [2002], from cancer.
She is survived by her husband, George Toth, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass will be held Friday, Dec. 20, at 8:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 1301 Fifth Ave., Coraopolis.

Mildred Oehling Tranter, 87, of South Heights, died Saturday, Nov. 16 [2002].
She was a member of Shannopin United Methodist Church and a member of the Crescent Township Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Tranter is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas W. and Carole Hinsch, of Green Tree, and Richard and Madeline Tranter, of South Heights; one daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and David Brueck, of Shippenville, Pa.; eight granddaughters, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her brother, George Oehling; one son, G. Robert Hinsch; and her husband, Walter H. Tranter.

Allen
Ronald V. Allen, 66, of Moon Township, died Sunday, Nov. 17 [2002], at Sewickley Valley Hospital.
He was born April 7, 1936, in Carnegie, a son of the late Vaughn and Grace B. Wagner Allen.
Allen was a union plumber for 34 years with Local 27, Robinson Township, and retired in 1985.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Ann Powell Allen; four children, Jane Skleton and her husband, Mark, of Hopewell Township, Ronda McElhaney, of Moon Township, Russ Allen and his wife, Diana, of Chippewa, and Darlene Wagner and her husband, Todd, of Cheswick; five grandchildren, Nikki, Taylor, Christopher, Zachary and Cassandra; and one sister, Nancy Crouse, of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Bonnie Jean Allen, and a brother, Edward Allen.

Basile
Mary Basile, 93, of Coraopolis since 1929, died Friday, Nov. 22 [2002], at Valley Care Masonic Center.
She was born Feb. 15, 1909, in Italy, a daughter of the late Pasquale and Catherine Veltri Veneziano.
Mrs. Basile was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Christian Mother's Association.
Survivors include: three daughters, Philomena Hopkins, of Evan City, Katherine Harter, of Stow, Ohio, and Mary Mauk and her husband, Richard, of Coraopolis; two sisters, Barbara Chiodi, of Coraopolis, and Carrie Iaquinta, of Erie; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Cassidy
Sara Pettibon Cassidy, 97, of Coraopolis for more than 70 years, died Tuesday, Nov. 19 [2002], in Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Cassidy was born Nov. 2, 1905, in Jefferson, Pa., a daughter of the late Thomas A. and Wilhemina Weigman Pettibon.
She was a first grade teacher for more than 30 years with Coraopolis School District.
She was a member of Coraopolis Methodist Church for more than 70 years and taught Sunday school for 55 years. She was a member of the Cot Club and Century Club along with United Methodist Women. She was truly an exceptional Christian woman that lived her faith.
Survivors include: two children, Dolores Sasway and her husband Joseph, of Ramona, Cal., and retired U.S. Air Force General Duane H. Cassidy and his wife, Rosalie, both of Sewickley and Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Harlan Cassidy, on Jan. 14, 1974.
Arrangements were handled by Copeland's Coraopolis. A funeral service was held at Coraopolis United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Sterling officiating. Burial was in Coraopolis Cemetery.

Lawrence Dale Cook, 50, of Pittsburgh, died Wednesday, Nov. 20 [2002], in UPMC Shadyside.
He was born Nov. 3, 1952, in McKees Rocks, a son of Raymond R. Cook, of Clinton, and the late Phyllis M. Mouck Cook.
He worked as a mail clerk for PNC Bank.
Survivors include: two sisters, Donna R. Hart and Barbara A. Cook, both of Pittsburgh; and a nephew, Oliver Lane.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Lee Cook.
Moody Funeral Home, Clinton, handled arrangements. Cremation took place with interment at Hopewell-Hebron Cemetery.
Pluechel
Judith Marie Pluechel, 50, of Friendship Ridge for the past 22 years, died Thursday, Nov. 21 [2002].
Mrs. Pluechel was born in Sewickley, a daughter of Wilbert L. and the late Adeline Coleman Pluechel.
She was a member of New Bethlehem United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: her uncle, Robert Pluechel, of Sewickley; her aunt and uncle, Charles and Ruth Coleman, of Hopewell; her uncle, Duane McCreight, of Moon; cousins and relatives; and dear friends, Alna and John Adams, of Midland, and Rhonda Heckel, of Rochester.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Pluechel; and one aunt, Alfadine McCreight.

Evelyn V. Young, 59, of Coraopolis, died Saturday, Nov. 9 [2002] in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Young was born Apr. 9, 1943, in Sewickley.
She was a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital for 39 years and at Mercy Hospital.
Mrs. Young was a lifetime Coraopolis resident.
She is survived by one daughter, Amy L. Ivory, of Fredericksburg, Va.; one brother, David C. Ivory, of Moon; three brothers, Gary D. Young, of Coraopolis, Charles Young, of Pittsburgh, and Terry Young, of California; three grandchildren, Hali, Tyson and Dahlia; and many great-grand and great-great grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Anthony J. Sanvito Funeral Home, Coraopolis.
A funeral was held in the funeral home. Interment was in Coraopolis Cemetery.
Bryant
Marlene Lowry Bryant, 69, of Coraopolis, died Wednesday, March 26 [2003], at West Penn Hospital.
She was born April 6, 1933, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Charles and Charlotte Aldred Lowry.
Mrs. Bryant was a member of St. Paul AME Zion Church. Some of her church organizations in which she participated were missionary society and senior choir. She was a former conference delegate, a district officer, a deaconess and benevolent steward.
She was also a homemaker.
Survivors include: her husband, Kenneth ; three children, Ken Jr. and his wife, Michelle, of Ypsilanti, Mich., Gary and his wife, Linda, of Riverside, Cal and Michele of Coraopolis; one sister, Jacqueline Glover of Chartiers City; one brother, Charles Lowry of Crafton; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Copeland’s Coraopolis. A funeral service was held at St. Paul AME Zion Church with Rev. Patricia Tatum officiating.
Entombment was in Coraopolis Cemetery.
Gargaro
Vincent Mario Gargaro, 84, of Stowe Township died Sunday, March 23 [2003].
He was born Oct. 23, 1919, in Stowe, a son of the late Angelo and Mary Palmieri Gargaro.
Mr. Gargaro was the last of the musically-gifted Gargaro brothers.
He and his brothers, Isadore and Anthony, supported their parents, funded their educations and entertained their family and friends at weddings, night clubs and Italian feasts with their accordion, trumpet and saxophone for many years.
He was a member of the University of Pittsburgh marching band from 1936-40 and was part of three generations of Pitt alumni band members.
He and his brothers served in U.S. Air Corp. and Army during World War II. He continued his service until he retired as a major in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
He was known as the voice of the weather band until his retirement in 1980 from National Weather Service as a meteorologist.
He was a member of the American Meteorologist Society, West Hills Symphony, University of Pittsburgh Alumni Band, West Park Firemen’s Band, Knights of Columbus, Villeta Barred Club, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Italian American War Veterans, Boy Scouts, Boys Club and the Lions Club.
Survivors include: his wife, Elva Connor Gargaro; three children, Deborah Holmes, Vince and Tom Gargaro; three sisters, Bernadette, Dora and Lita; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild ; and many aunts, nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were handled by Sanvito’s McKees Rocks where a funeral service was held in the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Mother of Sorrows Church with Father Larry Smith officiating. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.
McLaughlin
Ruth Scharpf McLaughlin, 89, of Moon Township died Tuesday, March 11 [2003], at her home.
She was born Feb. 12, 1914, in Glenwillard, a daughter of the late Roy and Margaret McCutcheon Scharpf.
Mrs. McLaughlin was a graduate of Coraopolis High School in 1931.
She worked in the office of Canfield Oil until her retirement in 1948.
Survivors include: two sisters, Betty Phelps of Escondida, Cal. and Margaret Cantrell of Coraopolis; one friend, Marion Kraus; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Erla Pegg.
Arrangements were handled by Copeland’s Moon Township. A graveside service was held at Clinton Cemetery with Rev. Roger Howard officiating.
Mitsch
Cyril Francis Mitsch, 82, of Moon Township died Sunday, March 15 [2003], at Sewickley Valley Hospital.
He was born Aug. 24, 1920, in Crafton, a son of the late Cyril and Anna Gormley Mitsch.
Mr. Mitsch was a veteran of U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was awarded eight bronze stars. He was a tech sergeant and radar mechanic and served in Europe.
He was a millwright for 26 years at J & L Steel Co. and a charter member of St. Margaret Mary Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Daisy Kleitz Mitsch; two sons, Bob and his wife, Diane, of McCandless Township and Paul and his wife, Anne, of Indiana Township; two daughters, Kathie Martonik and her husband, Joseph, of Moon and Patricia Mitsch of Moon; one sister, Mary Alice Dickson of Ambridge; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Blanche Berry and one grandson.
Arrangements were handled by Copeland’s Coraopolis. Closing prayers and Mass of Christian Burial were held at St. Margaret Mary Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.

Petitmaire
Elizabeth Watts Petitmaire, 90, of Moon Township and formerly of Stuart, Fla. died Sunday, March 16 [2003], at Sewickley Valley Hospital.
She was born June 29, 1912, in Rockville Centre, N.Y., a daughter of the late John and Emma Wright Watts.
Mrs. Petitmaire graduated in 1933 with a bachelor’s degree from Mt. Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass. and was a member of Mt. Holyoke Alumni Association.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Stuart, Fla. and St. Mark’s Methodist Church in Rockville Centre.
Survivors include: her husband, Felix Petitmaire; four children and their spouses, Carol Petitmaire and her husband, Ken Street, of Littleton, Colo., Marcelle Gregg and her husband, Gerald, of Boston, Andre Petitmaire and his wife, Anne Marie Kampman, of Copenhagen, Denmark and Lorraine Petitmaire and her husband, Thomas Weaver, of Moon; and seven grandchildren.
Arrangements were held at Copeland’s Coraopolis where a service was held with Rev.William Hower officiating. Burial was at Greenfield Cemetery in Hempstead, N.Y.

Silvestri
Nicolina Cicci Dilisio Silvestri, 91, of Coraopolis died Sunday, March 16 [2003].
Survivors include: three children, Edward Dilisio, Carole Tollis and her husband, Guido, all of Coraopolis, and Chester Dilisio and his wife, Sharon, of Moon Township; seven sisters, Helen Dilisio of Florida, Concetta Buiyak of McKees Rocks, EdnaMonaco of Virginia, Annie Giacominio of Moon Township, Laura Dzurenda of McKees Rocks, Delores Fallon of Virginia and Theresa Karns of McKees Rocks; one brother, Carl Fazio of Moon; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Silvestri was preceded in death by two husbands, Alex Dilisio and Umberto Silvestri, one son, Ronald Dilisio, and two brothers, Joseph and James Fazio.

Bagatini
Alfred Bagatini, 79, of Moon Township died Wednesday, April 9 [2003], at Shadyside Hospital.
He was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Coraopolis, a son of the late Joseph and Edith Montibeller Bagatini.
Mr. Bagatini was employed for 27 years with Codo Manufacturing until his retirement in Jan. 1986.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he received the good conduct medal, distinguished unit badge and European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, six bronze stars and one bronze arrowhead.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Jane Grannis; three sons, William and his wife, Carol, of South Bend, Ind., Richard and his wife, Beverly, of Clarksville, Tenn., and Gary and his wife, Cheryl, of Moon; and five grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Copeland’s Coraopolis.
Funeral Mass was held at St. Joseph Church with Father Malcolm McDonald officiating. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery with military honors.

Barlow
Helen Barlow, 81, of Moon Township died Monday, March 31 [2003], at her home.
She was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Bellbridge, Pa., a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Kissell.
Mrs. Barlow was a homemaker and worked for 22 years with St. Regis Paper Co.
She became a dietary worker for 15 years at Ohio Valley General Hospital.
She also enjoyed baking, gardening and being a loving grandmother.
Survivors include: one son, Frank Barlow Jr. of Richmond, Va.; three daughters, Renee Gobao of Moon, Carolyn Holtzer of Center Township and Sandra Valicenti of Moon; one sister, Jucianna McCall of Clairton; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, John, Joseph and Steve, and one sister, Ann Lehocky.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Margaret Mary Parish with Pastor Robin Evanish officiating. Interment was held at Holy Souls Cemetery.
Barnett
Emory Barnett, 79, of Cumming, Ga. died Thursday, March 27 [2003], at his son’s home.
He was born July 6, 1923, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Emory and Josephine Barnett.
Mr. Barnett served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his tour of duty, he came back to Pittsburgh and found work for five years as an attendant at Jameson Parking facility in downtown.
He then went on to spend 20 years as a mechanic at Corny Phillips Mobil Service Station in Sheraden.
In 1966, he became employed with Knickerbocker Russell Co. in Robinson Township. He became their service manager and retired with them in 1986.
He was a member of American Legion, VFW and Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
In leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and took many trips to the Great Lakes and Canada.
In 1997, he moved to Cumming, Ga. to live with his son and enjoyed many trips to Lake Laner where he continued to fish and boat.
Survivors include: three sons, James of Worcester, Mass., Michael of Portersville, Pa. and Patrick of Cumming, Ga.; one brother, Earl of Burgettstown; one sister, Ruth Glovan of Fort Pierce, Fla.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward, one sister, Edna Drudy and a former wife, Mary Barnett.
Arrangements were held by Joseph Somma Funeral Home, Robinson Township, where a Blessing Service was held with Father William Scholz officiating.
Interment was at Holy Souls Cemetery.
Trkula
Thomas Trkula, 68, of Moon Township died Wednesday, April 9 [2003].
He was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Aliquippa, a son of the late Adam and Rosalia Onuska Trkulja.
Mr. Trkula retired from Fisher Control in the late 1970s after 20 years of being a welder. He also retired from the state after working eight years as a toll collector.
He was a member of Coraopolis Elks Club 1090.
Survivors include: his wife, District Justice Shirley Rowe Trkula of Moon; one daughter, Kelli Walters and her husband, Robert, of Imperial; one son, Thomas and his wife, Pattie, of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, four in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred, and two in-laws.
Arrangements were handled by Copeland’s Coraopolis where a service was held with Pastor Jeff Sterling officiating.
Burial followed in Resurrection Cemetery.
Wilkie
Violet Wilkie, 82, of Moon Township died Saturday, April 5 [2003], at Beaver Elder Care in Aliquippa.
She was born Nov. 25, 1920, in Donora, a daughter of the late Andrew and Catherine Yaksic Bucich.
Mrs. Wilkie lived in Moon Township for more than 53 years and was a member of Sharon Community
Presbyterian Church in Moon.
She worked for Howard Johnson’s as a maid and also for Moon Elementary School in the cafeteria. She was a member of Croatian Fraternal Union.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sally, and her husband, Robert, of Moon; 10 siblings, Margaret Matava of Belle Vernon, Pauline Koval of Akron, Florence Heaps of Bridgeville, Marie Morrell of Arizona, Catherine Thomas of Donora, Frances Sanko of Donora, Sam Bucich of Glen Burnie, Md., Anthony Bucich of Valparaiso, Ind., Paul Bucich of Tacoma, Wash., and Donald Bucich of Finleyville; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wilkie Jr., and one son, Thomas Wilkie III.
Arrangements were handled by Copeland’s Moon Township where a service was held at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Howard officiating. Interment was at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
Cronin
John J. Cronin, 72, a lifelong resident of Neville Island, died Tuesday, July 1 [2003], at his residence.
Mr. Cronin was born in Sewickley on Nov. 30, 1930 to the late William James and Isabell (Hibbets) Cronin). He retired in 1987 from J & L Steel, where he had worked as a steelworker.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors include: his wife, Sarah; one son, John J. (Amy) Cronin, Jr., of Sewickley; one brother, Donald Cronin of Ocala, Fla.; two sisters, Margie Ord of Greenville, Ohio and Anna Pecor of Wisconsin; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cronin was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers, Frances Toth, Mary Belle Dignan, Blanche Wharton, and William and Robert Cronin.
Arrangements were handled by Copeland's of Coraopolis.
Burial was at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
Kozak
Gary S. Kozak, 65, of Westchester, N.Y., formerly of Moon Run, died June 19 [2003].
Mr. Kozak was born June 13, 1938, in Pittsburgh. He retired from IBM in 1995.
Survivors include: two sons, Scott L. Kozak of Sudbury, Mass., and Troy S. Kozak of Pfafftown, N.C.; one daughter, Gretchen K. Hegwood of Glastonbury, Conn.; his mother, Mary (Kolence) Kozak of Moon Run; one brother, Daniel Kozak of Moon Run; two sisters, Eileen Landa of Pittsburgh and Cindy Patton of Gardendale, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Joseph M. Somma Funeral Home of Robinson Township.
Burial was at Melrose Cemetery.
McClellan
Dennis Maxwell McClellan, 81, of Coraopolis, died Friday, July 18 [2003], at Masonic Village at Sewickley in Aleppo Township.
Mr. McClellan was born July 18, 1922 in Patmos, Ark. To the late Walter Harvey and Nellie (Powell) McClellan. He retired in 1984 from J & L Steel Co. and LTV Steel Co.
He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran who received the following citations: Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Service Medal, and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with a Bronze Star. He was in Company L 326th Glider Infantry.
Mr. McClellan was a resident of Coraopolis for 60 years. He was a member of The First Baptist Church in Moon Township, the Keith-Holmes VFW Post 402 in Coraopolis, 3 Rivers Outboard Racing Association, U.S. Title Series and American Power Boat Association.
Survivors include: his wife, Eleanor; two sons, Dennis J. (Cathy) McClellan of Neville Island and David D. McClellan of Moon Township; one daughter, Denis L. (Joseph) Vidmar of Moon Township; one brother, Dwight McClellan of Aliquippa; three sisters, Joyce Romasco of Coraopolis, Opal Roth of Joilet, Ill., and Shelby Tipker of Moon Township; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mueller
Donna J. (Zahocowski) Mueller, 62, of Crescent Township, died Wednesday, July 23 [2003], at Shadyside Hospital.
Mrs. Mueller was born July 8, 1941, in Sewickley to the late Frank T. and Irene G. (Fisher) Zahocowski. She was office manager for Creswell Water Authority and a member of the Zoning Hearing Board of Crescent Township.
She was also a 30-year member of Chaticleer Pool Club in Crescent. She obtained her associates degree in accounting from CCAC.
Survivors include: her husband, A.J.; one son, Jim R. (Julie) Zinsmaster of Moon Township; one daughter, Pam (Ed) Dawkins of Aliquippa; one stepson, Tom (Pam) Mueller of Virginia Beach, Va.; three stepdaughters, Kathleen (Stu) Stroud of Hopewell, Amy (Steve) Salazer of Albuquerque, N.M., and Terry Deane (Dean) Foster of Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, Ron (Cindy) Howe of Moon Township and Ted (Joann) Howe of Hopewell; and two sisters, Irene (Wayne) Hyatt and Sharon Tracy, of Coraopolis.
Arrangements were handled by Copeland's Moon Township. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery.
