Walter L. Stewart, 76, of Coraopolis, died Saturday, Jan. 10 [2004].
Survivors include: his wife, Beatrice; six sons, Allan (Kim), Thomas (Celeste), Walter, Jr. (Priscilla), Ronald, Jonathan (Tammy) and Jay (Dana); one daughter, Julia (Larry); one brother, Robert; two sisters, Shirley and Linda; and 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by McDermott Funeral Home in McKees Rocks.
Burial was private.
Amber
Cheryl Lee Amber, 54, of Neville Island, died Monday, March 15 [2004], in Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Ms. Amber was born Oct. 26, 1949 in Sewickley to the late George Edward and Patricia (Morgan) Pizer. She was a Coraopolis area resident for the last 20 years.
Survivors include: one son, Michael (Cathleen) Amber of Neville Island; one daughter, Morgan Amber of Bethel Park; two brothers, Eric George Pizer of Imperial and William J. DeForte, Jr. of Monroeville; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the West Hills Food Bank.

DeJulio
Clara A. (Casolari) DeJulio, 82, a Coraopolis resident for 40 years, died Wednesday, March 10 [2004], at Sewickley Valley Hospital.
Mrs. DeJulio was born Oct. 8, 1921 in New Castle to the late Samuel Guy and Nanette A. (Rossi) Casolari. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Christian Mothers, TOPS, where she also served as secretary-treasurer. She taught CCD at Mother of Sorrows. She was retired from Gimbel's Department Store, where she was buyer of material goods. She also was a retired probation officer at Allegheny County Courthouse. She was an amateur pianist as well as a seamstress.
Survivors include: her husband, Adam; one daughter, Barbara (Jim) Rettinger of Moon Township; one brother, Samuel Casolari of Robinson Township; four sisters, Edith Spardy of Stowe Township, Albenea Condle of Coraopolis, Josephine Vogel of Stowe Township and Virginia Leteize of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Arrangements were handled by Copeland's of Moon Township.
Burial was at Resurrection Cemetery.
Merriman
Dorothy M. (Hack) Merriman, 90, a lifelong resident of Moon Township, died Sunday, Feb. 29 [2004], at Manor Care Nursing Home in Green Tree.
Mrs. Merriman was born Feb. 27, 1914 in Summerdale, Ala., to the late Joseph H. and Camilla (Boleky) Hack. She was a self-employed real estate agent for more than 47 years in Moon Township. She was a member of St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church, and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary Keith-Holmes Post 402 Coraopolis VFW.
Mrs. Merriman was preceded in death by three brothers, Vincent G., James A. and Joseph R. Hack, and one sister, Katherine Knight.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mary Jane (George) Pantzis of Moon Township; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Copeland's of Coraopolis.
Burial was at St. James Cemetery.
Miller
Gladys A. Miller, 98, of Coraopolis, formerly of Sewickley, died Sunday, Feb. 29 [2004], at Sewickley Valley Hospital.
Mrs. Miller was born May 17, 1905 in Cooksburg to the late Sylvester and Catherine (Heffren) Wilkinson. She was a member of St. Joseph and its Christian Mothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and three siblings: Mrs. Richard Juline, James and Francis Wilkinson.
Survivors include: daughters Catherine (Joseph) Marenghi of Williamsburg, Va., and Margaret M. Miller of Cranberry; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were handled by Copeland's of Coraopolis. Burial was at North Side Catholic Cemetery.
Morton
Edward L. Morton, 78, a Moon Township resident for the past 45 years, died Thursday, Feb. 26 [2004], at his residence.
Mr. Morton was born April 20, 1925 in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Joseph and Faye (DeTrude) Morton.
He retired in 1990 from Pittsburgh Forgins, where he had been a machinist for 25 years. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church, worked the church's bingo and was committee man for spaghetti dinners.
He was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop No. 905. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of VFW Post 402.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph.
Survivors include: his wife, Margaret; three sons, Edward L. (Janet) Morton of Bethlehem, Mark R. (Ginny) Morton of Richland, Wash., and John P. (Mindy) Morton; one daughter, Judy (Terry) Loeper of Reading; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

O'Rourke
William C. O'Rourke, Jr., 70, of Oakdale, formerly of Crescent Township, died Monday, Feb. 23 [2004], at Shadyside Hospital.
Mr. O'Rourke was born July 14, 1933 in Coraopolis to the late Loretta Mae (Theakston) and William Carl O'Rourke, Sr. He was retired from both the U.S. Navy Seabees and Dravo Corp. He was a member of VFW Post 402, the Carnegie F & AM, the Shriners, American Legion Post No. 4, Coraopolis Moose, S.O.I.-Ambridge, Seabees Island X-3, and NERA (Naval Enlisted Reserves Assoc.).
Survivors include: his wife, Ilene; one son, John O'Rourke of Indiana; five daughters, Robin (George) Booth of Georgetown, Deborah (Steve) Walker of Ellicott, Md., Lisa (Ronald) Brown of Imperial, Colleen O'Rourke of Hopewell and Carla (Donnie) Bell of Center; two brothers, Richard O'Rourke of California and Donald O'Rourke; one sister, Loretta Berry of Hopewell; and eight grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Copeland's of Coraopolis.
Burial with full military honors was at Sewickley Cemetery.
Rohal
Sylvia A. Rohal, 85, of Coraopolis, died Saturday, Feb. 21 [2004].
Mrs. Rohal was an employee for 57 years at Van Balen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph.
Survivors include one niece and other relatives and friends.
Arrangements were handled by Anthony J. Sanvito Funeral Home in Coraopolis.
Burial was at Resurrection Cemetery.
Sambolt
Albert G. Sambolt, 61, of Coraopolis, died Wednesday, March 3 [2004].
Mr. Sambolt was preceded in death by his parents, Albert J. and Frances (Musko) Sambolt.
Survivors include: his sister, Edith J. Sambolt of Coraopolis; his aunts and uncles, Rudy J. (Jane) Sambolt of Coraopolis, George (Eva) Musko of Michigan, Paul (Betty) Musko of Kennedy Township, George Ann Musko and Rose Musko, both of McKees Rocks, Rose Marie Musko of Brentwood, and Ruth Musko of Uniontown; and numerous cousins.

Vescio
Anthony Vescio, 68, of Burgettstown, formerly of Moon Township, died Tuesday, March 2 [2004], at the Humbert Lane Health Center in Washington.
Mr. Vescio was born Jan. 19, 1936 in Sewickley to the late Sarah (Perry) Vescio, James Giovanni Battista Vescio and step-mother Sarah Catherine Vescio. He owned several Mobile service stations in Moon Township and Tony & Sue's Restaurant in Glenwillard.
Mr. Vescio was preceded in death by his brother, Dominic.
Survivors include: his wife, Virginia; three sons, James (Laura) of Raleigh, N.C., Mark of Charlotte, N.C., and Kenneth of Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Dawn (Jason) Farabuagh of Weirton, W.Va.; one brother, Fiore of Cranberry; and three grandchildren.

Wauthier
Megan Wauthier, 15, of Crescent, died Thursday, Feb. 27 [2004], at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Megan was born Sept. 3, 1988 in Sewickley. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Hopewell and attended New Horizon School in Beaver.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, John Wauthier.
Survivors include: her parents, Paul N. and Kelly (Gache) Wauthier; one sister, Kaitlyn Wauthier of Crescent; her maternal grandparents, Ellen and Gary Gache of Beaver Falls; her paternal grandmother, Ursula Wauthier of South Fayette; several aunts and uncles; and many cousins.

Higginbotham
James S. Higginbotham, 83, of Coraopolis, died Sunday, March 14 [2004], at his residence.
Mr. Higginbotham was born Jan. 2, 1921 in Amherst, Va., a son of the late Epoch and Rebecca (Watson) Higginbotham.
'Higgy' worked for American Chem-Sol for many years until the company went out of business.
He was a school bus driver for Student Transportation of America. He was also past commander of the Walter Robinson VFW in Sewickley.
Survivors include three daughters, Ashley Higginbotham of Raleigh, N.C., Tracy Higginbotham of Woodbridge, Va., and Vanessa Higginbotham of Summerville, S.C.; one brother, Epoch Higginbotham of Amherst, Va.; one sister, Polly Gumbs of New Jersey; and several grandchildren.

Lawyer
Mary Lou (Pander) Lawyer, 63, a resident of Beaver County for 20 years and formerly of Coraopolis, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 25 [2004], surrounded by her family in her home.
She was born in Coraopolis, a daughter of the late Lewis Russell and Eleanor (Potts) Pander.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert H. Lawyer on Dec. 30, 2000; her grandson, Michael Stello, in 1999; and siblings Betty Tessore, Gladys 'Dink' Black, Robert Pander, Ruth Mayberry and Donald Pander.
She is survived by three children, Cindy Lawyer Stello and her husband, Mark, of Logan, Ohio; Wayne Lawyer and his wife, Nicole, of Aliquippa; and David Lawyer of Aliquippa; and four grandchildren.
Friends were received at Copeland's Coraopolis Funeral Home, where services were held with the Rev. Robert Kern officiating. Graveside services were held at Coraopolis Cemetery.

Ploy
Irene M. (Paskonca) Ploy, 92, of Coraopolis for most of her life, died Friday, March 19 [2004], at Beaver Elder Care Nursing Home in Aliquippa.
Mrs. Ploy was born May 20, 1911 in Stowe Township, to the late Alex and Julia (Meszardos) Paskonca.
She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church in Moon Township, the ladies auxiliary Keith Holmes Post 402 Coraopolis VFW, Women's Golden Age Club in Coraopolis and AARP in Moon Township. She was a homemaker. She was an avid needlework expert and enjoyed crafts.
Mrs. Ploy was preceded in death by her husband, John, and son, John Richard.
Survivors include: one son, Edward T. (Barbara) Ploy of Moon Township; one daughter, Rosemarie Kozik of Aliquippa; one brother, Val Woertz of Canyon Country, Calif.; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.

Fischer
Estelle C. (Foust) Fischer, 80, of Moon Township died Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Beaver Elder Care Nursing Home in Aliquippa.
She was born May 19, 1923 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Elmer and Mary (Neuenhagen) Foust.
Mrs. Fischer was a 1942 graduate of Moon Area High School and a 1946 graduate of Passavant Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at Sewickley Valley Hospital.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Coraopolis for many years and a member of Moon AARP Chapter 3541, where she served as a board member.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Elmer, Charles and Harry Foust.
She is survived by her children, Richard Fischer Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Grove City, Ohio; Frank Fischer of Beaver Falls; and Deborah Vellella and her husband, Steve, of Seattle.
Friends were received at Copeland's Moon Township Funeral Home. Services were held at Zion Lutheran Church in Coraopolis with the Rev. Robert Strobel officiating. Burial was in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park in Rochester.

Helm
Roy W. Helm Jr., 82, of Richmond, Va., formerly of Coraopolis, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Henrico Doctors Hospital.
He was born in Pittsburgh July 27, 1921, a son of the late Minerva (Cook) and Roy Helm Sr.
Mr. Helm was a graduate of the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh and worked as a mechanical engineer at Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp for more than 27 years.
He was a veteran of the a U.S. Army in World War II, serving in Europe during the Battle of the Bulge.
He was active in his community and was an elder of Greystone Presbyterian Church.
He served as treasure of the Kiwanis Club of Virginia Beach and supported his children through the Boy Scouts and other civic organizations.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Jane (Engelhardt) Helm; four children, Susan Helm of Edinboro, Pa., Roy Helm III of Lynchburg Va., John Helm of Mechanicville, Va. and Peter Helm of Minneapolis, Minn.; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy J. Hueston.
Friends were received at Copeland's Coraopolis Funeral Home, where services were held with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Petrosky officiating.
Burial was in Evans City Cemetery.
Kislosky
Stanley S. Kislosky, 87, of Georgetown, Pa,. died Monday, March 29 [2004], at the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Woodsfield, Ohio.
He was born March 23, 1917 in Burgettstown, a son of the late John and Frances Karp Kislosky.
Mr. Kislosky was a retired mechanic who worked building ships at the Dravo Corp.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Michael and Martin Kislosky.
Surviving are two brothers, John Kislosky of Imperial and Chester Kislosky of Hookstown; two sisters, Helen Kislosky of Georgetown and Mary Hartzer of Midland; and several nieces and nephews.
Services and interment were private. Moody Funeral Home in Clinton handled arrangements.
Miller
Rolena W. (Cassell) Miller, 82, of Moon Township died Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Beaver Elder Care Nursing Home in Aliquippa.
She was born May 29, 1921 in Neville Island, Pa., a daughter of the late George Frederick and Albertine (Neaman) Cassell.
Mrs. Miller was a member of St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church in South Heights and the Senior Citizens Club of Crescent.
She was a retired cook for a nursing home in Meadville, Pa. And was also a crossing guard for the Moon Area School District for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Miller; a daughter, Patricia Wine; a sister, Hope Gilbert; and a brother, Ernest Cassell.
She is survived by her children, Carole Wehr of Maui, Rolena 'Dottie' Schofield and her husband, Clifford, of Crescent; and Lynette Neal and her husband, Daniel, of Crescent; a brother, George Cassell of Omaha, Neb.; 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

Nestler
H. Claire Nestler, 70, a resident of Moon Township since 1968, died Friday, March 26, 2004 in Sewickley Valley Hospital.
She was born Sept. 23, 1933 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late James and Anna Hazel (Haney) McMahon..
Mrs. Nestler was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church in Moon Township, where she was member of the Christian Mothers and the 55+ Group.
She was a graduate of Elizabeth Seton High School, class of 1952, and worked as a bookkeeper for Calig Steel and Drum, Bolea Oil, University Club and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Catherine Dunnett and Nan Flynn; and two brothers, James and Bob McMahon.
Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Robert T. Nestler of Moon; children Robert Paul Nestler of Moon, Jackie Kaye of McKees Rocks, Maureen Messersmith and her husband, Ernie, of Coraopolis; Timothy Nestler of Sunrise, Fla., and Jean Stevens and her husband, Matthew Sr., of Peters Township; sisters Jean Wilkoff of Georgia and Joann Lowery of Pittsburgh; a brother, Jack McMahon of Robinson, 10 grandchildren and many nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews.
Friends were received at Copeland's Moon Township Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Margaret Mary Church with the Rev. John Ayoob officiating. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.
Rozzi
Nicola D. Rozzi, 74, of Crescent Township died March 21, 2004.
He was the son of the late Fabio and Angela Rozzi.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas Rozzi of Crescent and Michael Rozzi of Virginia; brothers Renzi Rozzi of Moon Township and Gino Rozzi of Aliquippa; and one grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Rozzi.
Friends were received at the Anthony J. Sanvito Funeral Home in Coraopolis, where services were held, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church.
Simmons
E. Louise Simmons, 85, of Bellvue passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at Sewickley Valley Hospital.
She was born in Coraopolis Dec. 31, 1918, a graduate of the late George and Margaret (Clarner) Hofacker.
Mrs. Simmons was a 1936 graduate of Moon Area High School and a graduate of Slippery Rock State Teachers' College.
She was retired from Moon Area Schools, where she was a fourth grade teacher at Carnot Elementary School. She was a former member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her son, William A. Simmons Jr. of San Francisco, Calif; sisters Dorothy Balogh and her husband, Joe, of Moon and Donna Graber of Kilbuck; and two grandsons.
Private services were held at the Coraopolis Cemetery Mausoleum, with the Rev. Robert Stroebel officiating. Arrangements were handled by Copeland's Funeral Home in Coraopolis.
Violette
Sister Mary Violette, Catherine Grabowicz, died March 20, 2004 at the Felician Sisters Provincial House in Coraopolis.
She was 88 years old and in the 71st year of religious life.
She was born in Shamokin, Pa., the daughter of the late John and Anna Gutkowski Grabowicz.
She entered the Felician Sisters in 1933 from St. Anthony Perish in Ranshaw, Pa.
Sister Violette received the habit of the order in 1934 and made her first profession of vows in 1935, She professed final vows in 1941.
Sister Mary Violette spent 58 years as a teacher in Catholic schools staffed by the Felician Sisters in the dioceses of Pittsburgh, Greensburg, Harrisburg and Steubenville.
She taught for 43 years on the secondary level, and prior to that taught for 16 years on the elementary level.
Upon her retirement from the educational apostolate in 1992, Sister Mary Violette offered her services as supportive staff at St. Joseph Infirmary in Coraopolis and provided service in the Provincial House until the time of her death.
In addition to her parents, Sister Mary Violette was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Albert, and a sister, Alice.
She is survived by her sisters, Sister Mary Irene, CSSF, and Florence Marut of Ranshaw, Pa.; a brother, Thomas, of New Bloomfield, Pa., nieces, nephews and all the sisters of the Felician Congregation.
Friends were received at the provincial house. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in the convent chapel, and interment followed in the Felician Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Felician Sisters Renovation Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
