Victoria Jablonski Moon resident
Victoria Jablonski, 87, of Moon, died May 19, 1998, at St. Joseph Villa in Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; a brother, Frank; and a daughter, Dorothy. Surviving are one daughter, Rose Cejer (Ronald) of Moon; three sisters, Stella Pieschalski, Ruby Walders and Regina Munn; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Friends were received at Komorowski Funeral Home, Cleveland. Interment is in Calvary Cemetery.

John Folino Native of Italy
John Folino, 68, a Sewickley resident for more than 50 years, died May 22, 1998, at Sewickley Valley Hospital. He was born Feb. 14, 1930, in Calabria, Italy, a son of Giovanna Guarino and the late Frank Folino. Mr. Folino worked for Quaker Valley School District as its chief maintenance man for 32 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. James Church. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Rosemarie "Tootsie"; two daughters, Denise Wanchock of Moon and Lucy Yacyk of Hagerstown, Md.; one sister, Margaret Huff of Ohio; one brother, Frank Folino of Sewickley; and three grandchildren. Raymond W. Bell Lived to 103
Raymond W. Bell, 103, a Coraopolis resident for more than 60 years, died May 22, 1998, at Valley Care in Aleppo. He was born Feb. 13, 1895, in Greensburg, a son of the late Jacob and Susan (Bach) Bell. He also was preceded in death by as son, Raymond; three sisters; and three brothers. Mr. Bell, who was retired from work as a self-employed plumber, was a member of St. Joseph Church. Surviving in addition to his wife, Marie, are 10 children, Charles Bell, Virginia Davies and May Lou Coradi of Coraopolis, Rose Marie Weber and Jean Kozerovich of Moon, Betty Brough of McKees Rocks, Robert Bell of Kennedy, James Bell of Aliquippa, Barbara Moseberger of Crescent and Daniel Bell of Cranberry; one sister, Annie Bell of Greensburg; 43 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Friends were received at Copeland's Funeral Home, Coraopolis. Interment is in St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rev. Lawrence Holpp officiated.

Peter O'Connor Retired machinist
Peter O'Connor, 84, a lifelong Coraopolis resident, died May 21, 1998, at Vencor Hospital in Robinson. He was born Dec. 4, 1913, in Coraopolis, a son of the late Peter A. Sr. and Janet E. (Angus) O' Connor. He also was preceded in death by by two sisters, Elizabeth Hagarman and Mary Frances Bubb; and one brother, John M. O'Connor. Mr. O'Connor worked as a machinist for Pittsburgh Forgings Co. for 41 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member and usher with St. Joseph Church and a member of St. Vincent DePaul. Surviving in addition to his wife, Roberta, are one sister, Helen Baron of Carbondale; one brother, David X. O'Connor of Warren, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Yost In Croatian Lodge
Mary (Ulakovic) Yost, 92, of Crescent, died May 22, 1998, at Mariner Health Care Center of West Hills. She was born March 24, 1906, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Michael and Eva (Srsic) Ulakovic. She also was preceded in death by her husband, George; a son, Richard; three sisters, Elsie and Evelyn Ulakovic and Josephine Bajzek; and one brother, Maurice Lockwood. Mrs. Yost was a member of St. Catherine's Church in Wireton and the Croatian Lodge. Surviving are a daughter, Doreen Mossey of Crescent; a son, Donald Yost of Reserve; two sisters, Anna May of San Antonio, Texas, and Kathryn Ulakovic of the North Hills; three brothers, Joseph Ulakovic, Frank Ulakovic and Rudolph Ulakovic, all of the North Hills; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Friends were received at Copeland's Funeral Home, Moon. Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery, Pittsburgh. The Rev. John Huber officiated.

Patricia Ann Weber Retired lab worker
Patricia Ann Weber, 58, of Ambridge, formerly of Coraopolis and Hanover, died May 25, 1998, at Sewickley Valley Hospital. She was born Dec. 1, 1939, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Paul and Margaret (Stewart) Smith. A member of Hanover Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Weber was a graduate of South Side High School who had attended East Liverpool Nursing School. She worked as a lab technician at J&L Steel's Aliquippa Works for 10 years, retiring in 1984. Surviving in addition to her husband, Roger, are five children, Timothy Thomas of Hanover, Robert Thomas of New Castle, Scott Thomas of Fredericksburg, Va., Christopher Thomas of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Dennis Golixer of Erie; and eight grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were handled by Copeland's Funeral Home, Coraopolis. Services were private.

Elizabeth C. Swank Island retiree
Elizabeth C. (Diamond) Swank, 88, a lifelong Neville Island resident, died May 23, 1998, at Woodland Place, Cool Spring. She was born March 5, 1910, in Moon Run, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Hartman) Diamond. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John; two sisters, Mary Kink and Janet Gather; and two brothers, Henry Simpson and John Diamond. Mrs. Swank was a member of St. Joseph Church and its Christian Mothers organization. She retired in 1975 from Fesco Inc., McKees Rocks, and was a former GNC sales clerk. Surviving are four children, Judy Gunter of Pocomoke City, Md., John D. Swank II of Hudson, Ohio, Patricia J. Martin of Mercer and Joanne Prostko of Kennedy; one sister, Helen Zarecki of Fredonia; four brothers, William and Edward Simpson of Pittsburgh, Mathew Simpson of California and Lindy Simpson of Ohio; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Friends were received at Copeland's Funeral Home, Coraopolis. Interment is in Jefferson Memorial Park. The Rev. Lawrence Holpp officiated.

Ellen M. Mentzer Gardener, traveler
Ellen M. Mentzer, 91, of Kennedy, formerly of Robinson, died May 19, 1998, at Ohio Valley General Hospital. She was born Sept. 13, 1906, in Donora, a daughter of the late William and Nellie Burns. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Earl. Ms. Mentzer had been a member of St. Malachy Church in Kennedy for the past four years and was a former member of St. Joseph Church in Coraopolis. She also belonged to the Catholic Daughters, Christian Mothers and Widows Indeed organizations. A past officer and member of Forest Grove Community Club and Robinson Retirement Association, she enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling to fill her days. Surviving are three children, Marilyn M. Zupanovich and Donna Muia of Robinson and Earl Mentzer of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren. Friends were received at Joseph M. Somma Funeral Home, Robinson. Interment is in Resurrection Cemetery. The Rev. Paul R. Staud officiated.

Aloye
James A. Aloye, 80, a Coraopolis resident since 1947, died Feb. 2, 1999 in Sewickley Valley Hospital. He was born in Wishaw, Pa. on Mar. 7, 1918, a son of the late Antonio and Annette (Giggilotte) Biondi. Mr. Aloye was a corporal with the Pennsylvania State Police from 1945 to 1965. He was a graduate of Sewickley High School and the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. He was a life member for both the Western Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association and Beaver Valley Chiefs of Police Association. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Fraternal Order of Police and St. Joseph Church in Coraopolis. Mr. Aloye served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant and received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Mary Cercone Aloye; his children, James Anthony Aloye of Reading, Pa., and Patricia Ann Mochnick Dangevin of Orlando, Fla.; a sisters, Betty Amerando of Hopewell; and two grandchildren. Friends were received at Copeland's Coraopolis Funeral Home. Interment is in St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rev. Lawrence Holpp officiated.

Busse
Catherine R. Busse, 85, a resident of Crafton, died Jan. 28, 1999 at Ohio Valley General Hospital. She was born July 22, 1913 in McKees Rocks, a daughter of the late Richard Wilkins and Catherine B. Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Busse; sister Mildred Ramsey; and brothers Hank Wilkins, Richard Wilkins, and Robert Wilkins. As a young lady, Mrs. Busse was a line worker for about six years at the Clark Candy Company on the North Side of Pittsburgh. She was a past member and Worthy Matron of the Mosaic Chapter and a member of the North Hills Chapter #526 of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Busse was also a member of the Crafton United Presbyterian Church. Surviving are her children, Charlane Busse of Indianapolis, Ind., Henry C. Busse of Petersburg, Ohio, and Barbara E. Miles of Robinson; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends were received at Joseph M. Somma Funeral Home. Interment is in Jefferson Memorial Park. The Rev. John L. Sweitzer officiated. DiCicco
Albert "Chick" DiCicco, 81, a resident of Robinson Township, died Jan. 29, 1999 at Sewickley Valley Hospital. He was born Aug. 7, 1917 in Colorado. Mr. DiCicco worked as a carpenter, and was a member of St. James Church in Sewickley. Surviving are his wife, Rose Cook DiCicco; his son, Dennis R. Cook of New Kensington; sister Olivia "Lena" Frissora of Coraopolis; brother Sam DiCicco of Coraopolis; and two grandchildren. Friends were received at Anthony J. Sanvito Funeral Home in Coraopolis. Interment is in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Franchek
Melva "Jean" Franchek, 70, a long time resident of Imperial, died Jan. 19, 1999 at her residence. She was born Jan. 13, 1929 in North Fayette Township, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Katie Burgoyne Lipscomb. Mrs. Franchek was a homemaker. She was also a member of St. Columbkille Christian Mothers & Guild. Surviving are her husband, Albert "Wilbert" Franchek; children Michael Franchek of St. Johnsbury, Vt., Richard Franchek of Fairbanks, Alaska, Robert Franchek of Oakdale, Jeffrey Franchek of Biloxi, Miss., and Patricia Weber of Georgetown, Pa.; sisters Ruth White of Saverna Park, Md., and Juanita Parry of Imperial, and nine grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Dennis Buranosky at St. Columbkille Church in Imperial Jan. 22. Friends were received at Wharton-Herrick Funeral Home. Kress
Amanda E. O'Day Kress, 92, a life long resident of Coraopolis, died Jan. 29, 1999 at her residence. She was born July 8, 1906 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Michael and Dora Fahrenhold O'Day. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Marilyn Bennett and Gwen Wyatt; two sisters, Edna Wright and Dorothy Stohrr; and three brothers, Harry, James and Charles O'Day. Mrs. Kress retired in 1971 from the City of Pittsburgh, where she had worked for 20 years in the Lots and Blocks Division. Surviving are her son, Kenneth Kress of Hollywood, Fla.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Friends were received at Copeland's Coraopolis Funeral Home. Interment is in Coraopolis Cemetery.

Simon
Louis J. Simon, 70, a long time resident of Findlay Township, died Jan. 18, 1999 at his residence. He was born Jan. 3, 1929 in Pittsburgh a son of the late Louis and Elizabeth Iris Simon. He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Betty Ree and a sister, Iris Iocozzia. Mr. Simon was a Seaman Second Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired in 1989 after more than 35 years as a conductor and a brakeman with the LTV and its predecessor at the South Side J&L/LTV Corp. Mr. Simon was a member of the U.T.U. Union, and of Holy Trinity Church. Mr. Simon enjoyed camping with family in their travel trailer at places such as Myrtle Beach. When not traveling, he was happiest working as a handyman around the house. Surviving are his wife, Rita H. Simon; daughter Susanne Pecchi and son Louis Simon, both of Pittsburgh; step-children Rose Zagrocki of Florida, George Ree of Chandler, Ariz., and Robert Ree of Gilbert, Ariz.; sister Bernadette Buccigrossi of Ross Township and brother Robert Simon of Chicago, Ill. Mr. Simon is also survived by three grandchildren he cared for, Amanda DeFazio of Findlay, Casey Pitcock and Tim Ree, both of Mesa, Ariz.; and 10 other grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends were received at Joseph M. Somma Funeral Home. Interment is in Saint Mary's Cemetery. The Rev. William Scholz officiated.

Sullivan
Joseph F. Sullivan, 77, a resident of Robinson Township, died Jan. 20, 1999 at Vencor Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born Feb. 4, 1921 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Patrick M. and Ida C. Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; sisters Dorothy Sullivan and Gertrude Sullivan; and brother William Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan was a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. His service was as an Aerial Photographer. He retired in 1981 after working many years for the Confectionery Workers Union Local 12A. He was the union's former president-secretary. After retiring from the union, he went on to work one year for the Allegheny County Assessment Office as a data collector. Mr. Sullivan then had a job as a clerk for seven years with the Liquor Control Board's State Stores. When not working, he enjoyed gardening, reading and crafting with macrame, which he would give as gifts to his family. Mr. Sullivan will be most remembered for the 15 years he enjoyed as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 301 at Holy Trinity Church in Robinson. Surviving are his sons, David T. Sullivan of Robinson, Kenneth J. Sullivan of McMurray, Michael P. Sullivan of Bentendorf, Iowa, Robert J. Sullivan of Mt. Morris, Wis., and Timothy P. Sullivan of Pittsburgh; brother James Sullivan of Winterhaven, Fla.; sisters Ida Catherine Sullivan of Pittsburgh, Marie Sullivan and Marie Pattrich Sullivan, both of Pittsburgh; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends were received at Joseph M. Somma Funeral Home. Interment is in Resurrection Cemetery. The Rev. Robert W. Herrmann officiated. Zagoda
John "Smoky" Zagoda, 76, of Moon Run, died Jan. 16, 1999 at John J. Kane Scott Regional Center. He was born May 8, 1922 in Cliff Mine, Pa., a son of the late Frank and Theresa Zagoda. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann; sister Julia Pangersis; and brother, Frank Zagoda. Mr. Zagoda was the former chief of the Moon Run Volunteer Fire Department. Smoky was also a Private First Class in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired laborer for the Fort Pitt Bridge Company in Canonsburg. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, and was a member of American Legion Post 862 in Moon Run. Friends were received at Joseph M. Somma Funeral Home in Robinson. Interment is in Holy Souls Cemetery in Robinson. The Rev. Robert W. Herrmann officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to Moon Run Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
