Death date: January 05, 2002 Olive M. (Gura) Swint, age 82, of Ross Township on Saturday January 5, 2002 at Suburban General Hospital in Bellevue. Beloved daughter of the late Ralph F. and Meta E. (Bardelang) Gura. In addition to her parents Olive is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Parkhill W. Swint; four brothers and three sisters. Olive is survived by her loving daughter, Nola Richards and her husband Jim of Shaler Twp. and one grandaughter, Suzan Mickey and her husband John of Ross Township.Also survived by two great-grandchildren, Mason and Reagan Mickey. Family will recieve friends Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Schellhaas Funeral Home, Inc., 388 Center Ave., West View. Services will be held on Tuesday January 8, 2002, at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Allegheny County Memorial Park, McCandless. Olive was a member or the North Hills Chapter #526 O.E.S. and the Epworth United Methodist Chruch. Harry B. Thaner
Harry B. Thaner, age 82, of Reserve Township, on Monday January 7, 2002 at U.P.M.C. Presbyterian Hospital. Born February 23, 1919 in Pittsburgh PA the son of the late Frank Xavier and Edna Lutz Thaner. In addition to his parents Harry is preceded in death by his wife Rose Ann (Schlegel) Jordan; son John R. Jordan; three brothers Regis R. Thaner, Francis W. Thaner and Robert Thaner; one sister Eileen Hafner. Survivors include his beloved wife Ann Heurich Thaner; five loving children, James J. Jordan of Wexford, Barbara J. Snyder of Shaler Township, Betty Lee Frankovich of Shaler Township, Ed Thaner of Wexford, Susan Lammie of Pine Township; one brother Bernard G. Thaner of the North Side; also 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 388 Center Avenue West View on Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated in St. Aloysius Church on Friday at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. William Rutledge celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Ross Township. Harry was a founding partner in Gateway Engineers, Inc. from where he retired in 1980. He was a former Chairman of Troy Hill Federal Savings Bank, served on the Advisory Board of E.S.B. Bank, was a member of the Reserve Township A.A.R.P., Mensa Organization, and a proud veteran of WWII were he served our country in the U.S. Army and was a gardener extraordinare.
Harry David Finney
Harry D. Finney, of Richland Twp., Gibsonia, died on Tuesday, April 23, 2002. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he is the dear son of Harry W. and Lydia D. (DeQuenne) Finney of Richland Twp., Gibsonia. He is also survived by many cousins. Mr. Finney was an Industrial Engineer for US Steel in Gary, Indiana and was a consultant for other companies, he was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with an Engineering Degree, and a member of the Jockey Club in Etna. Vance M. Smith Jr
Vance M. Smith, Jr., age 75, of Vero Beach, Florida, formerly of Richland Twp, Gibsonia, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 26, 2001. Born in Hickory, PA on April 10, 1926, he was the son of the late Vance M., Sr. and Jane Minerva (Morgan) Smith. Beloved husband for 50 years of Elizabeth (Crawford) Dear father of Vance M. Smith III of Pittsburgh, Barbara Rigby of Sugar Land, Texas and Shelly Camissa of Oakmont, PA. Brother of James Arthur Smith of McDonald, PA, Robert Smith of McDonald, PA, Richard Smith of Hickory, PA, Olive Ferrell of Hickory, PA, Dorothy Walker of McDonald, PA, Roberta Ferrar of Neenah, Wisconsin, and Elsie Smith of McMurry, PA. Also 8 grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Smith. Private Services will be held Sunday at the Inn at Oakmont. Private Burial will be Monday in Crawford Memorial cemetery in Emlenton, PA. Mr. Smith was the Founder and Former President of Bakerstown Container Corporation, a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, Bent Pine Golf Club in Vero Beach, FL, Oakmont Country Club, Rolling Rock Club in Ligonier, PA and an US Army Veteran of WWII. Doris 'Dee Dee' Tomasic
Doris 'Dee Dee' T. (Rhodes) Tomasic, age 70, of Ross Township peacefully on Thursday February 14, 2002 at her residence. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 15, 1931 the daughter of the late James and Violet (Phelps) Rhodes. Before her reitrement, Dee Dee was employed as a waitress for several restaurants including the Bellevue Tea Garden and Perkins. Doris is the beloved companion of Edward Putch of Ross Township; most precious mother of Joseph (Donna) Tomasic Jr. of Ross Township, Donna (Joe) Leszczynski of Ross Township, Denise (Jim) Dugan of West View; loving grandmother of Joe and John Tomasic, both of Ross Township, Joe Leszczynski of Ross Township, Michael Leszczynski of Bellevue, Misty Hollinger of West View and Joni Dugan of West View; loving great grandmother of Brittany and Joey & Taylor Tomasic, Billy and Jimmy Hollinger, and Marley and Tryston Leszczynski. Also survived by eight brothers and sisters and a host of nieces and nephews. Marie Urschler, age 99 of Spring Hill on Tuesday February 5, 2002 at Wexford House in McCandless Township. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 11, 1902 the daughter of the late George and Theresa (Weber) Kagermeier. Marie is also preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank Urschler; and a son, George Urschler. Mrs. Urschler is survived by her sister Florence Wick of McCandless Twp. a Daughter in law, Joan Urschler; a granddaughter, Leah Schoaf of Spring Hill. Also survived by 1 great grandchild. Born December 2, 1922 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late William L. and Ida (Schmidt) Griffith. IN addition to her parents, Claire is preceded in death by her beloved husband Edward Hildenbrand and her brother John Griffith. Ellen Jane Stack Hersick, age 50, of West View, on Thursday April 3, 2003. Born May 5, 1952 in Pittsburgh PA the daughter of Edward and Catherine Netze Stack of Mars. Ellen is preceded in death by her sister Barbara Stack. In addition to her parents she is survived by her beloved daughter Julia Hersick; 5 sisters Mary Stack of Sligo, Judy Stack of Brookline, Nancy Horan of Ross Twp, Carol McKellan of West View and Marlene Fannin of Ohio; one brother Jerry Stack of Virginia. Elizabeth "Libby" M. (Magerry) Douglas, age 92 of West View, on Thursday, March 20, 2003 in Vincentian Regency. Born in Pittsburgh on April 16, 1910, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Teresa (Campbell) Magerry. Mrs. Douglas is survived by her daughter, Betty Gilliland of Bellevue; three granddaughters, Virginia G. Petraglia, Ruth G. Riethmuller and Suzanne L. Gilliland and two great grandsons, Daniel and Douglas Riethmuller. Friends received Friday, March 21, 2003 from 7-9 p.m. at Schellhaas Funeral Home, Inc., 388 Center Avenue in West View, a "Pursuit of Excellence" award firm, where services will be held on Saturday at 12 Noon. Charles J. "Baron Elliott" Craft
Charles J. "Baron Elliott" Craft, age 88, of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Ross Township, on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 in Venice, Florida. Born December 3, 1914 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Winters Craft. Baron Ellitott was a well known Band Leader in the tri-state area for over forty years. Preceding him in death were his wife, Ida Mae (Falck) Craft, a daughter, Charlene Craft; and a grandaughter, Charlene Schramm. Surviving are his daughter, Darlene D. Schramm and her husband, Peter of Ross Township; two grandchildren Eric Schramm and Laura Schramm; a sister, Marie Lyons of Mt. Troy; and a dear friend, Roberta Hanna. Louis F. & Margaret E. Ingram
Louis F. Ingram, age 90 on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 in Cranberry Place Nursing Home and Margaret E. (Justus) Ingram, age 82 on Thursday, January 9, 2003 in UPMC Passavant Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Ingram resided in West View and shared 64 years in marriage together. Beloved Parents of Louis H. Ingram of Cranberry, Margaret Abt of North Side and Sandra Ringeisen of McCandless. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mr. Ingram was born in Pittsburgh on June 7, 1912, son of the late Frank and Mary (Olkusz) Ingram. He is the brother of Ann Wroblewski and the late Catherine I. Biertempfel and Joseph Ingram. Mrs. Ingram was born in Cristfield, Maryland on July 14, 1920, daughter of the late Elmer and Elizabeth (Sommers) Justus. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers, Merril, June and Harley Justus. Louis was a General Contractor for 40 years and was a Veteran of World War II. Margaret was a homemaker most of her life.
