Death date: February 06, 2002 Sophia (Piela) Wainauskis, age 87 of Ross Township, on Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at Vincentian Regency Nursing Home, McCandless Township. Born in Pittsburgh on October 5, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Balthazar and Maryann (Siwarski) Piela. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wainauskis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernard, and a daughter, Patricia (Wainauskis) Ritenour. Sophia is survived by one sister, Helen Jackson of Brookline; a granddaughter, Mary Catherine Ritenour of Virginia; a niece, Carole Hammons of McKees Rocks and a nephew, Michael Jackson of Castle Shannon. Friends received Friday 2-4 & 7-9 at Schellhaas Funeral Home, West View. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Athanasius Church, West View. Interment in North Side Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. Wainauskis was a homemaker most of her life and a member of West View A.A.R.P. #2211.
J. Glenn Norris
J. Glenn Norris, age 80, of West Deer Twp., Gibsonia, died on Wednesday, March 6, 2002. Born in Curtisville, PA on June 1, 1921, he was the son of the late Joseph A. & Margaret G. (Austin) Norris. Beloved husband for 59 years of Alice (Christ). Dear father of Mary Louise Palmer of Bellevue, Donald G. Norris of Valencia, Linda G. Norris of Tampa, FL and David W. Norris of West Deer Twp. Brother of William Norris of Cranberry Twp., Marjorie Rinnaman of Mars & FL and Charles Norris of Valencia. Also the grandfather of 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Friends received Friday 2-4 and 7-9 at the SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME Ltd. 5864 Heckert Road Bakerstown. Funeral Service Saturday 10:30 am at the funeral home. Rev. He was a member of Local #66, the West View Sportsman Club, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and an Army Veteran of WWII.

Loving wife of John W. Sanderson and beloved mother of Joseph H. Sanderson, both of McCandless. Sister of Edward E. Hefright of Zelienople. Edward J. Jost, age 85 of North Side, on Sunday, February 10, 2002 at his residence. He was born in Pittsburgh on March 26, 1916, the son of the late Louis and Theresa (Winkler) Jost. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jost was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia on January 31, 2002; a son, Keith; a brother, Louis and a sister, Anna Weber. Mr. Jost is survived by five children, Edward, Dennis, Cheryl Schweizer and Valarie Wirkowski, all of North Side and Kenneth of Troy Hill; a sister, Ruth Nestor of Texas and a brother, Robert of Florida. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Schellhaas Funeral Home, Inc., 707 East Street, North Side. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in Most Holy Name Church with Father W. David Schorr officiating. Prior to his retirement, Edward was employed as a Truck Driver for Keebler Cookie Co. He was a member of Teamsters Local #249 for 50 years and St. Mary's Lyceum.

Twila W. Metz, age 81 of Cranberry Township, on Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at her residence. She was born on July 1, 1920 in Finleyville, PA, daughter of the late Charles and Eleanor (Brown) Kircher. Mrs. Metz is the beloved wife of Wallace D. Metz of Cranberry Township; mother of Timothy W. Metz of Bellingham, Washington and the late John and Joseph Metz. Sister of Laird Kircher of West View; Robert Kircher of Florida; Thomas P. OLeary of Pittsburgh; Venetta Coleman of Penn Hills and the late John Kircher, Zelda Porga and William S. Kircher. Also survived by 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Rosa Lorenc, age 89 of Ross Township, on Wednesday, February 6, 2002, in Windsor Place Nursing Home, Ross Township. Born in Austria on December 7, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Josephine (Schirgl) Steurer. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lorenc was preceded in death by her husband, Anton Lorenc. Mrs. Lorenc is survived by nieces and nephews. Prior to her retirement, Rosa was employed in the Optical Industry. Family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Schellhaas Funeral Home, Inc., 388 Center Avenue in West View where services will be held on Saturday at 12:00 Noon. Pastor Robert Strobel will officiate the service at the funeral home. Interment in United Cemetery.

Helen Dornin Lutz, of Cooperstown, died on Friday, February 8, 2002. Born in Pittsburgh, she is the daughter of the late Samuel & Margaret (Gush) Dornin. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lutz was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Lutz, 2 daughters, Sheila Maureen Lutz and Mary Christeen Frame, 1 grandchild, Darian Lutz, and 9 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Lutz is survived by 2 children, Fran Kemper of Baldwin-Whitehall, Gregg Lutz of West Vancouver, British Columbia. Sister of Marianne VanTassel of Raleigh, NC, James Blazier of Aiken of SC, Judith Lipinski of North Hills, and Herbert Blazier Jr. of Bozeman, Montana. Also 5 grandchildren. Frank R. Colton, age 76, of West Deer Township, on Friday February 22, 2002 in U.P.M.C. Passavant Hospital. Born May 15, 1925 in Pittsburgh PA the son of the late James and Ethel Colton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Agnes "Pat" Temple Colton and two brothers Paul and James Colton. Survivors include his loving children Earle R.of West Deer, Frank R. Jr. of Sarasota, FL, Terry A. of West Deer, Daniel L. of West Deer, Kieth E. of West Deer and Don C. of North Shore; one brother David of State College and one sister Lois Seibert of Mars; also survived by 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren Friends received at the SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, LTD 5864 Heckert Road Bakerstown on Monday 2-4 7-9 and Tuesday 9 until time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. H. William Dambach officiating. Interment will be held privately. Before his retirement Mr. Colton worked as an Accountant in the Allegheny County Assesment Office, he then went to work for G.A. Industries were he also served as an Accountant. In service to his Country Mr. Colton retired as a Staff Seargent in the U.S. Army during WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Born in Germany on May 23, 1913 the daughter of the late Karl and Pauline Hoffmeister. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nikolaus Hintermayer. Elisabeth was a homemaker most of her life. Survivors include two loving children, Bruni Baker of Indiana and Irene Tabacchi of McCandless Township. Also survived by 4 Grandchildren. George J. Haramic, age 87, of West View, on Friday February 8, 2002 in U.P.M.C Passavant Hospital. Mr. Haramic was born in Pittsburgh on December 2, 1914, son of the late George and Anna (Halla) Haramic. Mr. Haramic is the beloved husband of Ida (Buczko) Haramic of West View; father of Georgeanne Talbot of Wilkensburg, Jeffrey J. Haramic of Ross Township and Brian G. Haramic of West View, brother of Mary Sheckler of Florida and Ann Goldstein of Mt. Lebanon. Also survived by 3 grandchildren, Brandon, Hilary and Alex Talbot. Friends recieved on Monday 2-9 at the Schellhaas Funeral Home, Inc. 388 Center Avenue West View were a Blessing Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Haramic was a Contractor and an Army Veteran of WWII.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 29, 1924 the son of the late Edgar and Christina Hays Sr. In addition to his parents Edgar is also preceded in death by his wives, Stella (Gniatkowski) Hays and Catherine (Tonner) Hays; and three sisters, Marguerite Gray, Retha Pearson, and Anna Jones. Mr. Hays is survived by his sweetheart, Roni Geche; three children Nancy A. (Walter) Austin of Ross Twp., John E. Hays of South Side, and George H. Pittman of New York. Also survived by three grandchildren Robert C. and Richard E. Austin and Lori A. (Richard) Sadler.
