Death date: February 12, 2003 Walter D. Banachoski Jr., age 65, of Bakerstown, Richland Twp., on Wednesday, February 12, 2003 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born on November 9, 1937 in Sharpsburg, PA, he was the beloved son of the late Walter D. and Carmella (Romea) Banachoski Sr. In addition to his parents, Walter is preceding by one beloved son, Robert Banachoski. Beloved husband for 43 years of Gertrude (Wickline) Banachoski. Loving father of Walter D. Banachoski III and his wife Kathy of Cranberry Twp., Joseph Banachoski and his wife Mary Ann of Butler, Carmella Powell and her husband Walter of Bakerstown, and Denise Peretik and her husband Kevin of Butler. Brother of Mary Boles, Helen Samber, Arlene Forsythe, Gail DeHart, and Charles Banachoski. Also survived by nine grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Schellhaas Funeral Home, Ltd., 5864 Heckert Rd., Bakerstown, Richland Twp. a 'Pursuit of Excellence' award firm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Richard Church. Interment will follow in Holy Savior Cemetery, Richland Twp. Jean M. Stengel, age 68 of West View, on Monday, October 21, 2002 at her residence. She was born in McKees Rocks, PA, the daughter of the late John & Marie (Werling) McNabb. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a brother, Charles McNabb. Mrs. Stengel is the beloved wife of William H. Stengel of West View; cherished mother of William H. Jr. and his wife, Michelle, Valerie and Darren Stengel, all of West View, Karen Stengel of Florida and John Stengel of Arizona. Sister of William McNabb and his wife, Hilda of Crafton. Also survived by a granddaughter, Brianna of Arizona. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Stengel was employed as an Operation Manager for Pittsburgh Credit Bureau. She was a former president of Pgh Credit Women and a member of St. Athanasius Christian Mothers. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Schellhaas Funeral Home, Inc., 388 Center Avenue in West View. Helen V. Pauloski, age 84, of West View, on Saturday, October 19, 2002 in Vincentian Regency Nursing Home. Born May 1, 1918 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Andreas Prohinsky and the late Julia Najda. Past president of West view A.A.R.P., Member of North Hills U.P. Church Senior Group. Preceding her in death were her husband the Late Jerome B. Pauloski. Surviving are two Daughters Juliana Taper of Ross Twp. and Geraldine Yockel of Slickville, PA. 1 Sister Margaret Kuba of Gibsonia, 1 Grandson Timothy Yockel of Cranberry Twp. and 1 Great-Granddaughter Melissa Yockel. Wilma E. Shedd, age 82, of Ross Township formerly of Cochituate, MA on Thursday October 3, 2002. Born June 24, 1920 in South Londonderry, Vermont the beloved daughter of the late Ernest L and Stella Hart Sterner. In addition to her parents Mrs. Shedd is preceded in death by her beloved husband Gordon A. Shedd; two brothers Carroll E. and Richard E. Sterner and one sister Jane E. Sterner. Survivors include her two loving daughters Elizabeth Pusateri of Ross Township and Karen Crossman of Marlbough, MA; one sister Evelyn Ramey of Seneca, S.C.; three grandchildren Shaun and Lindsey Gentile and Sarah Pusateri. Barbara was as a caring homemaker, a member of St. Aloysius Christian Mothers, and the Reserve Township A.A.R.P. #2882. Loving wife of the late Charles O. Schellhaas. Also preceded in death by one brother, Alfred Brenckle, and one sister, Leona Weber. Loving mother of Karen A. Cieply and her husband Phil of Mendon, MA and Charles A. Schellhaas and his wife Peg of Reserve Township. Sister of Sylvilla Blaser of Reserve Township and Marie Pagan of Shaler. Beloved grandmother of Charles M., Andrew R., and Stacy L. Born September 30, 1902 in Paris, France, he was the beloved son of the late John and Marie (Colle) Arens. Also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother, Tia, Lilly Ahenen, Bertha Koster, and Joseph Arens, all of Luxemburg, France. Loving husband for 61 years of Anna M. (Rubrecht) Arens. Also survived by one brother, Robert Arens of Luxemburg, France. Theodore was a member of Holy Sepulcher Church in Glade Run and a former member of St. Peter's Church, North Side. Norman E. White, age 74, of Richland Twp., Gibsonia, died on Monday, October 28, 2002 in The Arbors at Valencia Woods. Born on March 22, 1928 in Greensburg, the son of the late Norman A. & Alice (Pugh) White. Also preceded in death by one sister, June Swartz (Mrs. Chester). Norman worked as a Civil Engineer and was the owner of Norman E. White and Associates. Dear Father of Anna K. "Kris" Ciafre (Mrs. Anthony), Norman A.White, and Benjamin K. White. Brother of Marion Myers (Mrs. Howard), Irma Deemer (Mrs. David), and Patricia Kriebel (Mrs. Harvey). Also survived by six grandchildren. Former husband Virginia (Doney) White.
Gladys (Lang) Kircher
Gladys (Lang) Kircher, age 76 of West View on Monday, October 28, 2002 at her residence. She was born on April 17, 1926, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late George P. and Mary (Ferris) Lang. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kircher was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Earl and Donald Lang. Mrs. Kircher is the beloved wife of Laird C. Kircher of West View. Also survived by four children, Sharon E. Assisi of West View, Linda P. Double of Erie and Kevin J. & Bryan S. Kircher, both of West View; a brother, Robert L. Lang of Ross Township; three sisters, Ethel & Hazel Lang, both of West View and her twin, Dorothy Uhlenburg of Colorado and 8 grandchildren. Friends will be received on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Schellhaas Funeral Home, Inc., 388 Center Avenue in West View, a "Pursuit of Excellence" Award Firm, where services will be held on Friday, November 1, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. William Dambach of North Hills U.P. Church will officiate the service at the funeral home. Interment in Allegheny County Memorial Park. Mrs. Kircher was a homemaker most of her life and a Deacon at North Hills United Presbyterian Church. Gladys also volunteered with the West View Meals on Wheels. Albert J. Mattern
Albert J. Mattern, age 87 of Spring Hill, on Saturday, October 19, 2002 at his residence. Born February 10, 1915 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Karl and Amelia (Mickolite) Mattern. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mattern was preceded in death by his son, Albert J. Mattern, Jr. Prior to his retirement, Albert worked as a Maintenance Man in the Health Care Industry. Surviving are his wife, Louisa Mattern of Spring Hill; two sons, Roderick Mattern of Zelienople and Kevin Mattern of New York and a daughter, Michal Mattern of Latrobe. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Service on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. in the Salvation Army Pittsburgh Temple Corps Chapel, 426 Boulevard of the Allies, Downtown Pittsburgh.

Rose M. (Sgro) Martin, age 81 of McCandless, formerly of West View, on Wednesday, October 9, 2002 in Mercy Hospital. Born November 7, 1920 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jenny (DiStefano) Sgro. Rose was a homemaker most of her life. Preceding her in death were her husband Nicholas A. Martin and a sister, Angeline Sollima. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Heil of McCandless Township and three sons, Michael Martin of Shaler Township, Glenn Martin of West View and Craig Martin of Woodbridge, VA. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. The family will receive friends on Friday, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Schellhaas Funeral Home, Inc., 388 Center Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, a 'Pursuit of Excellence' Award Winning Firm.
