She was born in Pittsburgh on August 17, 1917, the daughter of the late George W. and Clara (Brethauer) Hopf. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Monroe was preceded in death by her husband, Albert D. Monroe, four brothers, Albert T., Edward A., Frank, and G. Walter Hopf and a sister, Virginia Frederic. Mrs. Monroe is survived by a brother, Fred W. Hopf of Ross Township.
