Catherine H. Kessler, 63, of Cranberry Twp., died Saturday, April 10, 2004 at her home.
Born January 30, 1941 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Anthony & the late Josephine (Grove) Marsartis.
Catherine was last employed at the Cranberry Twp. Elks. She enjoyed painting & auto racing.
She is survived by her husband, William J. Kessler, Jr. whom she married Feb. 12, 1991; 2 sons, David Osselborn of Fombell, and Russell Osselborn & his wife Brenda of Cranberry Twp., a step-son, William J. Kessler III of Northeast, PA; a step-daughter, Donna Walters & her husband Rob of Butler. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Russell & David; a sister, Joanne, and 7 grandchildren.
Friends will be received 7-9 PM Monday & 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday at Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home of Cranberry Twp., 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Twp.
Funeral services 11 AM Wednesday, April 14th at the funeral home.

George E. Kmetz
George E. Kmetz, of Harmony, formerly of Rochester, died Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony.
Born May 29th in Sutersville, PA he was the son of the late John & Anna (Blasko) Kmetz & was known for saying that on May 29th he celebrated the 48th anniversary of his 39th birthday.
Mr. Kmetz was a surveyor for Chester Engineers in Pittsburgh & retired from the PA Liquor Control Board. He was a member of the Amateur Ham Radio Club & a former member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Rochester. Mr. Kmetz worked as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 10 years.
He is survived by a sister, Helen Shaw of Florida. Also survived by many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Esther (Wallace) Kmetz who died Nov. 1993, 3 brothers, John E., Joseph, & Thomas Kemtz & 3 sisters, Mary Hesse, Ann Lofgren, & Margaret Gorse.

Philomena Kroshel, age 76, of Cranberry Twp., died Friday, July 30, 2004 at St. John's Specialty Care Center, Mars.
Born November 18, 1927 in Italy, she was the daughter of the late Amedio & Anna Ricci Santella. Mrs. Kroshel was a member of the Italian Sons & Daughters of America.
She is survived by her daughter,Charlotte Kaltenbaugh of Cranberry Twp.; 2 brothers, Peter Santella of Jeannette and Amico Santella of Sewickley. Grandmother of Whitney S. & Brandon C. Kaltenbaugh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Kroshel, who died November 1994; a brother and a sister.

Frances R. Kugel, 83, of Zelienople, died Saturday, May 15, 2004 at Passavant Retirement & Health Center, Zelienople.
Born March 8, 1921 in Etna, the daughter of the late Frank & the late Anna (Belak) Bogacki.
Mrs. Kugal was a member of St. Peter´s Reformed Church, Zelienople & the Breakneck Beagle Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra McNamee of Zelienople; son, Richard Kugel of Renova, PA; brother, Edward Bogacki of Zelienople. Also survived by 4 grandchildren.
Preceded in death by husband Albert Kugel who died Jan. 12, 1973, 3 sons, & 3 sisters.

Richard Allen Lutz, 48, of New Sewickley Twp., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 13, 2004.
Born September 15, 1955 in Ellwood City, he was the son of Waneda (English) Lutz of Ellwood City & the late Robert W. Lutz.
Rich was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post 474, Zelienople & the Hungarian Club, Zelienople. He enjoyed motorcycles.
In addition to his mother he is survived by 3 sisters, Marilyn J. Lyle & her husband Tommy of Andersonville, TN, Karen L. Reynolds of Cranberry Twp., & Rebekah S. Yeck & her husband David of New Sewickley Twp. Also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, & uncles.

Richard E. Matson, age 78, of Cranberry Twp., died Friday, April 23, 2004.
Born March 4, 1926 in Independence, MO, the son of the late Thomas & Myrtle (Donahue) Matson.
Mr. Matson retired in 1990 from Schoolcraft College, Livonia, Michigan where he had been a Professor of Computer Programing and Data Processing. He was a WW II U.S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Matson whom he married June 18, 1976; 2 sons, Kyle Matson of Austin, TX & Brett Matson of Cranberry Twp.

Mrs. May graduated from the College of New Rochelle in New York & worked as a graphic designer after graduation. She was a prolific award winning artist who enjoyed painting portraits & landscapes. Charlotte Fisher McLain, age 93, of Sherwood Oaks, Cranberry Twp. where she had been an active resident since 1983, formerly of Edgewood, on Tuesday, April 6, 2004,
Mrs. McLain was a long-time faithful member of the 6th Presbyterian Church in Squirrel Hill. She was a member and President (1976) of the Speech Communication Assn. of PA and was a graduate of the Univ. of Pgh. with a Master’s Degree in Education.

G. Lewis �Kye� Miller, age 92, of Zelienople, died Sunday, July 18, 2004 at Passavant Retirement & Health Center, Zelienople.
Born June 16, 1912 in Williamsport, PA, he was the son of the late J. Lee & Carrie Hassenplug Miller.
Mr. Miller was a 1935 graduate of the School of Agriculture, Penn State University. Following graduation he worked as a PA State Milk Inspector for Jefferson, Clarion & Armstrong counties. In 1938 he worked for Hurr�s Dairy co-owned by his father in S. Williamsport, PA as a manager of 12 dairy stores until 1957. From 1957-1962 he was a salesman for International Paper Co. in Western PA where he handled the sales of paper milk containers. From 1962-1992 he was an Investment Representative with Waddell & Reed of Pittsburgh. Mr. Miller was a member of the John E. Mair Lodge #729 F&AM, life-member Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Lodge Council Chapter, Consistory Valley of Williamsport and had been a resident at Passavant Retirement Center for the last 18 years. He was a Lutheran and attended English Lutheran Church, Zelienople.
He is survived by his daughter, Sidney Heinsberg & her husband, Richard of Fombell; son, Lawrence P Miller & his wife,Charlotte Smith of West Yellowstone, MT: 11 grandchildren, Tammy Quigley, Todd Heinsberg, Kimberly Fawcett, Kate Heinsberg, Maggie Heinsberg, Amanda Heinsberg, Kurtis Heinsberg, Michael Miller, Matthew Miller, Eric Miller. Also 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (Pries) Miller who died Oct. 5,1975, a son, Anthony L. Miller, a grandson, Scott Miller, and 2 brothers, Kenneth & William H. Miller.

Karen had worked for Passavant Retirement & Health Center in Zelienople & St. Francis Nursing Center in Cranberry Twp. She was a loving mother, grandmother, & sister who enjoyed her family.

Alice L. Pflaum
Alice L. Pflaum, age 85, of Cranberry Twp. on Thursday, April 8, 2004.
Ms. Pflaum obtained her Bachelor of Science & Master of Science degrees from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing & served as a practicing Registered Nurse until her retirement. She was a veteran of WW II, serving as an Army evacuation nurse, primarily in the South Pacific. She was a lifelong friend of her colleague, the late Virginia Braley, & her family, epecially Robert Braley who was like a nephew to her. Ms. Pflaum became a resident of Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community in 1988.
She is survived by her nephew, Michael Pflaum of San Diego, CA, her nieces, Rita Malone of Escondido, CA & Shirley Harrington of Ocean Spring, MS.

Ernest L. Poletz
Ernest L. Poletz, age 96, of Zelienople, formerly of Erie, died Friday, July 9, 2004 at Passavant Retirement & Health Center, Zelienople, PA.
He was born December 13, 1907 in Brownsville, PA. Prior to WWII Mr. Poletz traveled the country with the Ernie Palmquist Orchestra where he was arranger and pianist. He was a WWII US Army veteran and served in the unit under the command of Genl´ George Patton. Following WWII he moved to Denver Colorado where he ran a liquor store for several years. He & his wife then moved to Erie where they owned and operated the Poletz Dry Cleaners for 25 years. After his retirement Ernie became well known as an impressionist artist with his works being displayed at Passavant Retirement Center.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Betush & her husband Ted of Wexford; a grandson,David Betush & his wife, Bobbi of Wexford and 2 great grandchildren, Jacob & Jennifer Betush.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine M. (DeLaura) Poletz whom he married June 28,1937 and who died April 12,1997.

Born November 6, 1924 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wendel & Hazel (Kenan) Keller. Mrs. Polochak was member of the Cranberry Senior´s group and the Quilting Group of Cranberry. She was also a volunteer at the Cranberry Twp. Public Library.
She is survived by her husband,John Polochak whom she married May 29,1948; 2 sons,Allen J. Polochak & his wife, Jane of Portersville and Donald G. Polochak & his wife, Renee of Clairmont, NC; 2 daughters,Alice J. Smith & her husband, Jim of Gibsonia and Mary G. Bevan & her husband, Donald of Wexford. Charles M. Ranker, age 75, of Cranberry Twp., formerly of Millvale, died Friday, June 11, 2004 at St. Elizabeth´s Hospital, Youngstown, OH.
Born February 7, 1929 in Millvale, he was the son of the late Michael A. & Magdalene (Kalb) Ranker.
Mr. Ranker retired from Duquesne Light Co. after 35 years of service.

Born September 17, 1921 in Cliff Mine, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. & Alma Yolton Marshall. Mrs. Reed was a member of St. Peter´s Reformed Church, Zelienople where she belonged to the Ladies Fellowship & directed the Youth Choir for many years. She was also a member of the Zelienople American Legion´s Ladies Auxillary.
She is survived by a daughter, Bobbie K. Bintrim of Harmony, a son, Marshall D. Reed of Waldorf, MD, 6 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald W. Reed who died June 12, 1988, a sister, & a brother.

Richard "Rick" Restelli
Richard B. “Rick” Restelli, died peacefully, on Thursday, June 24, 2004 at his home in Cranberry Twp. after a courageous three-year battle with brain cancer.
Rick was born July 20, 1963 in Pittsburgh & was a graduate of Duquesne University School of Business in 1986.
He was the beloved husband for 15 years of Mary Pat (Malley) Restelli; devoted father of Caitlin Marie, Alexandra “Ali” Elizabeth, & Jonathan Restelli; son of Richard “Dick” & Gail (Blake) Restelli of McCandless Twp.; brother of Brett Restelli & his wife Ariane of Ingomar, and Mark Restelli & his wife Cathy Jo of Cranberry Twp.; son-in-law of Bill & Theresa (Malley) Curran of Wexford; brother-in-law of Jim & Kathleen (Malley) Correll of Cranberry Twp., Erin Malley of Sewickley, Rick & Julie (Malley) Pinkava of Medina, OH, and Vince & Lisa (Curran) Pilotta of Ingomar. Also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Rick was the owner of International Apparel, which he began in 1996. He helped in founding the Pittsburgh Chapter of Young Entrepreneurs Organization (YEO) & served on YEO’s International Board of Advisors. Rick also served on the Board of Regents for LaRoche College & was a board member for the Northern Area Chamber of Commerce. He belonged to the Harley Owner’s Group (H.O.G.) & coached girl’s indoor soccer. Rick was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.

Helen Ann Simons
Helen Ann Simons, 78, of Marshall Twp., died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 at UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Twp.
Born October 19, 1925 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late John & Anna (Capan) Draskovic.
Mrs. Simons was an active member of Mt. Pleasant U.P. Church, Marshall Twp. She was a florist who loved gardening, reading, needle-point and her grandchildren & great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Walter S. Simons whom she married Aug. 29, 1945; daughter, Patricia Riggs & her husband Larry of Sparta, MI; son, Larry Simons of Canterbury, CT; sister, Mildred Chiazzi of Phoenix, AZ; 5 brothers, John, Bill, Bob, Frank, & Jim Draskovic of West Middlesex. Also survived by special aunt & uncle, Margaret & Frank Capan of Cranberry Twp., 5 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by sister-in-law, Jane Nemchik.

Aaron E. Smith
Aaron Eldridge Smith, age 67, of Cranberry Twp. died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at his residence.
Born March 22, 1937 in El Dorado, Kansas, he was the son of Polly (Jinks) Smith and the late Olen Eldridge Smith. He was a 1955 graduate of El Dorado High School, attended the University of the South in Sewanee, TN and graduated from El Dorado Junior College. He received a B.A. and law degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. Upon graduation in 1962, he joined the F.B.I., first posted in Washington, then Pittsburgh and eventually in New York City. He was one of the agents involved in the hunt for the murderers of three civil rights workers in Tupelo, MS.
In June,1965 he married Linda Crandall from Union City, PA. After living in New York City for two years they moved to Edinboro, PA where Aaron was involved in the family insurance business. In 1973 Aaron and his wife moved to Pittsburgh, where he worked until his retirement as a manufacturer's rep for Ralph L. Stemler, Inc.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two children, Kimberly C. Smith of Saxonburg, PA and Christopher C. Smith of Slippery Rock, PA, two granddaughters, Melodi and Corall Smith, his mother, Polly Smith of Topeka, KS and his sister, Margaret Smith Berger of Stanford, CA.
There will be no Visitation.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 5th at St. Christopher Episcopal Church, 925 Sheraton Dr., Cranberry Twp., with The Rev. Paul A. Cooper, church rector, officiating. A buffet lunch will be served in the undercroft of the church immediately following the services.

Evelyn H. Stamm
Evelyn H. Stamm, age 93, of Meadville PA, formerly of Fombell, died Saturday, September 25, 2004 at Westbury United Methodist Retirement Community, Meadville, PA.
Born September 24, 1911 in Mars, she was the daughter of the late James B. & Wilhelmina McConnell Anderson. She was a member of First United Methodist Church , Ellwood City and attended Camp Run United Presbyterian Church, Fombell where she was a member of the Everwidening Circle Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Chapter 212 Order of Eastern Star, Ellwood City.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Charles (Marcia) Rea of Franklin; 2 grandsons, John A. Rea and James E. Rea; 2 great granddaughters, Rebekah Rea and Abigail Rea; 2 greatgrandsons, Joshua Rea and Adam Rea. She was preceded by her husband, John Stamm September 8, 1978 also a sister, Lillian Miller, and 3 brothers, Crawford, Elder and James Anderson.
Friends will be received 11AM - 1PM Tuesday & at Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Svcs., Inc., 219 E. Grandview Avenue, Zelienople.
Funeral services will be held 1PM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Bell, pastor of Messiah Baptist Church, Franklin, officiating. Burial will be in English Lutheran Church cemetery, Zelienople.

Catherine M. Tait
Catherine M. Tait, age 90, of Butler, formerly of Punxsutawney & Zelienople, died Thursday, May 6, 2004 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born August 26, 1913 in Adrian, PA, she was the daughter of the late Miller & Catherine (Adams) Depp.
Mrs. Tait was a former member of the First U.M. Church, Punxsutawney & Harmony-Zelienople U.M. Church, Zelienople. She was a member of the Zelienople American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Tanglewood Senior Citizens Center, Lyndora and was a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital in Butler.
She is survived by a son, Robert J. Tait of Portersville; a daughter, Cathy M. Cavelo of Sewickley; a sister, June Hubbard of FL; 3 brothers, Walter Depp of Altoona, Robert Depp of FL, James Depp of Punxsutawney. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Tait who died in 1966, a son, William Tait, and a sister, Anna Grace Lundey.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside Services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, May 11th at the American Legion Section of Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney, with the Rev. Andy Verner, Pastor of First U.M. Church, officiating.

Daniel G. Veith
Daniel G. Veith, 70, of Harmony, died Sunday, September 5, 2004 at UPMC Passavant Cranberry, Cranberry Twp.
Born February 2, 1934 in Dayton, OH, he was the son of the late Rev. Loran W. & Ruth (Gardner) Veith. Mr. Veith was a member of the Spiritualistic Church of Meadeville, PA, & was a member of the Zelienople American Legion, Butler County FOP #107, National Rifle Assn., & Life-Member of Harmony Volunteer Fire Company. Mr. Veith was a U.S. Navy Veteran & he had been a Deputy Sheriff in Butler County for 22 years. He was an avid hunter and participated in a number of Pow Wow´s.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia Jean “CJ” Veith of Harmony; a daughter, Sue Bland of Harmony; 4 sons, Daniel Veith Jr. of Boyers, Scott Veith, Michael Veith of Butler, & Timothy Veith of Morgantown, WV; a brother, Loran William Veith of Florida; 4 sisters, Caroline Wheaton of Zelienople, Mary Tait of Cranberry Twp., Esther Ziegler of Evans City, & Lois Taylor of Florida. Also survived by 4 grandchildren.

Robert James Wilson
Robert James Wilson, age 66, of Cranberry Twp., died Monday, April 12, 2004 at VA Medical Center, Butler.
Born July 19, 1937 in Canonsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Robert C. & Mary J. (Rosack) Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a member of St. Ferdinand´s Catholic Church, Cranberry Twp. and a member of Teamster´s Local #926. He was a Korean War US Army veteran. He enjoyed Bowling and loved his Pirates and Steelers.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey L. Wilson whom he married Oct. 9,1971; son, Robert Andrew Wilson of Bethlehem, PA; a half-sister, Barbara Andrews. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Robert H. Wooster
Robert H. Wooster, age 61, of East Brady, formerly of Cranberry Twp. died Friday, May 28, 2004 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born February 28, 1943 in Bellevue, he was the son of the late William Herbert & Ruth Ann (Doerr) Wooster.
Mr. Wooster was the founder of the Cranberry Township T-Ball League. He was a craftsman, enjoyed fishing & boating and was an avid reader. He retired as Tool & Die Machinest with Herr-Voss.
He is survived by a son, Robert William Wooster & a daughter, Lori Ann Halbleib, both of Cranberry Twp. His fiancee, Kathleen Ashton of East Brady; 3 sisters, Matilda Gibson of Cucamonga, CA, Diana Webster of Cranberry Twp., & Lois Beal of Dallas, TX; Also survived by 5 grandchildren, Julie Wooster, Ty, Logan & Rachel Halbleib and Kathy Ashton.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William H. Wooster Jr.

Marion D. Young
Marion D. Young, of Cranberry Twp. died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community, Cranberry Twp.
Born, Sept. 29,1906 in Traer, Iowa she was the daughter of the late John William & Jennie (Dougan) Young. Miss Young was a 1928 graduate of Monmouth College in Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and received her Master's Degree from the Univ. of Iowa in 1942. She retired from Hornes Department Store in Pittsburgh where she worked in the Personnel Dept. where she was responsible for opening Branch stores.
She is survived by a niece, Dorothy Voetberg of Galena, IL, two great nieces, Alison R. Flogel and Laura E. Merritt, and a great nephew, Kent A. Voetberg.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Young who died in 1994.
Services will be held at 1:30PM Friday, May 1, 2004 in the chapel of the Overton Family Funeral Home in Traer,IA with Rev. Rick Vesely, pastor of Traer U.P. Church, officiating.
Thomas J. Zmudzinski
Thomas J. Zmudzinski, age 69, of Cranberry Twp., died Monday, August 16, 2004 at UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Twp.
Born August 3, 1935 in Pittsburgh the son of the late Thomas J. & Beatrice (Bisman) Zmudzinski.
Mr. Zmudzinski was a US Army Veteran. He was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Cranberry Twp., & Local Union #37 of Roofers, Waterproofers, & Bricklayers.
He is survived by wife, Lois E. (Braun) Zmudzinski whom he married Aug. 12, 1972; 2 daughters, Denise Moser & her husband Jeff of Cranberry Twp. & Tammie T. Bachman & her husband David of N. Carolina; son, George E. Smith & his wife Denise of Cranberry Twp., a sister, Mary Margaret Burns of Masontown; 2 brothers, James Rogers of Cranberry Twp., & John Logan of California; 4 grandchildren, April, Tara, Tyler, & Rylie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandchildren, Angel & Jacob & sisters, Beatrice & Theresa.
