Cervi, Adeline 'Laney'
Adeline "Laney" Cervi, 92, of Hopewell Township, passed into the arms of her Lord on Saturday, June 16, 2001.
Born March 21, 1909, in Braddock, Pa., a daughter of the late Emilio and Sarafina (Greco) Trasport, she was a resident of the Aliquippa area since 1911. She attended Aliquippa High School and Garfield Business School, and was employed as a secretary for the Darroch Funeral Home on Franklin Avenue. Adeline was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Center Township; the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America and the 500 Card Club. She was also a 35 year member of the Aliquippa Hospital Auxiliary and sponsored the Adeline Cervi Scholarship for Radiologic Technology at Aliquippa Hospital. Adeline, with her husband, Pascal, gave much time and support to community organizations and was a generous benefactor of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh Foundation, the B.F. Jones Memorial Library and Quigley High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Trasport; a brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Laura (Shaffalo) Trasport; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Rocco Paradiso, Esther and Louis Shugar, Elvira and Frank Morelli, and Melba and Anthony Angotti.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Pascal Cervi, Hopewell Township; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Frederick and Gayle Trasport, Hopewell Township, and Annina Trasport, Huntington Beach, Calif., and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the MASTROFRANCESCO FUNERAL HOME, 21st and McMinn Streets, Aliquippa, where prayers will be offered on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Center Township.
Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Hopewell Township.

Denny, Glenn W.
Glenn W. Denny, 91, of Kissimmee, Fla., formerly of Chippewa Township, passed away Monday, June 11, 2001, in St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, Fla.
Glenn was born Feb. 22, 1910, in Chippewa Township, to the late Jay and Nellie Taylor Denny. He retired in 1972 from the former Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products Division, Wallace Run Plant, as a crane operator, and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Kissimmee, Fla.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian E. Denny, on Aug. 15, 1980; four brothers, Dwayne, Ralph, Merrill and Clair Denny, and a sister, Thelma Denny.
Glenn is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia A. and Thomas Riddel, Camillus, N.Y.; four grandchildren and nine great-granddaughters, and two cousins, Evelyn Wickman, Tustin, Calif., and Eleanor Gillespie, Kissimmee, Fla.
Friends will be received Tuesday, June 19, 2001, from 4 to 9 p.m. in the LUTTON CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 117 Blackhawk Road, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David R. Saylor of the First Lutheran Church, Beaver Falls, officiating.

Hallam, Betty Jean
Betty Jean Hallam, 78, of North Sewickley Township, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, in The Medical Center, Beaver.
Born Feb. 12, 1923, in Beaver Falls, a daughter of the late William J. and Anna (Doyle) Stanyard, she was a member of Christ the King Episcopal Church, College Hill. An avid bingo player, she was the current Treasurer of the Beaver Falls American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 261, a member of the 8/40, and was current Pennsylvania State Treasurer of the Veterans of World War I.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Warren F. Hallam; a daughter, Gail Holoweiko, Big Beaver; a grandson and his wife, David and Diana Holoweiko, Ohioville; three granddaughters and their husbands, Diane and Thomas Streit, Ellwood City; Carol and Keith Long, Enon Valley, and Sharyn and James Davis, Homewood; four great-grandchildren, Joshua and Mitchell Long, Tyler Davis and Zachary Streit; two brothers, Donald Stanyard, Eastvale, and Ivan Stanyard, New Brighton; a sister, Nina Holoweiko, Big Beaver, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, in 1957; a son-in-law, Stanley Holoweiko, in 1976; two brothers, William H. and John G. Stanyard, and a grandson-in-law, Terry Smith.

Charles O. Hatt, 72, of Beaver Falls, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, in Rochester Manor, following an extended illness.
Born Dec. 20, 1928, in Rochester, a son of the late William B. and Dolores Bard Hatt, he retired in 1986, from the former Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products Division, Beaver Falls, after 29 years. He was a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church, Beaver Falls, and a 1947 graduate of Rochester High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict, he was a member of the Beaver Valley Club of Retired Persons.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Tyndall Hatt; a brother, John A. Hatt, and two sisters, Mary Hatt and Annabelle Bork.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Charles L. and Elizabeth Hatt, Economy; four brothers and their spouses, William and Theresa Hatt, Coral Gables, Fla.; Glenn Hatt, Potter Township; Donald and Mary Ellen Hatt, Rochester, and Ronald and Charlene Hatt, New Sewickley Township; a sister and her husband, Eleanor and Raymond "Bud" Morrow, Boardman, Ohio; a brother-in-law and his wife, Clifford and Marlene Tyndall, Wickliffe, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Albert "Jake" Bork, Beaver Falls, and several nieces and nephews.

Josapak, John L.
John L. Josapak, 52, of Daytona Beach, Fla., formerly of Baden, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 14, 2001.
Born Dec. 7, 1948, a son of John J. Josapak, Palm Harbor, Fla., and the late Doris R. Josapak, he was employed for 10 years at Sam's Club, and was honorably discharged from both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jill Schubert Josapak.
In addition to his father, he is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael E. and Karen Josapak, Ambridge; Thomas P. and Sue Josapak, Clearwater, Fla., and Robert E. and Dana Josapak, Palm Harbor, Fla.; three nephews, Michael R. Josapak, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Thomas Josapak, Pittsburgh, and Cameron R. Josapak, Palm Harbor, Fla., and two nieces, Marybeth Niccolai, Pittsburgh, and Molly Jean Doris Josapak, Ambridge.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 19th at 1 p.m. at the BAGGETT & SUMMERS FUNERAL HOME, 736 South Beach St., Daytona Beach, Fla. for all of his loving family members and friends.

Kutcher Sr., George C.
George C. Kutcher Sr., 75, a retired carpenter and longtime resident of Kilbuck Township, died early Saturday morning, June 16, 2001, at Suburban General Hospital, following an apparent heart attack in his home.
Mr. Kutcher was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Jointers Local 211. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II having served on the Aircraft Carrier Yorktown, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are his beloved best friend, Elizabeth Blake; his children, Shirley Wassell and Bette Schuette, both of Fort Wayne, Ind.; George Jr., Monaca; Jean Annon, Suisun City, Calif., and Mary Ann Allerton, Pittsfield, N.Y.; a brother, John, Avalon; four sisters, Ann Jackson, Bellevue; Margaret Zapf, Franklin Park; Dorothy Diel, Phoenix, Ariz., and Janet McGurgan, Fredericksburg, Md., and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth B. Kutcher; a sister, Mary Schutte, and three brothers, Frank, Joseph and Anthony Kutcher.

McAnlis, Lois Dene Winter
Lois Dene Winter McAnlis, 80, of RD 1, New Galilee (New Beaver Boro), died Saturday, June 16, 2001, in The Medical Center, Beaver, after a short illness.
Born Feb. 15, 1921, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., a daughter of the late Charles Mohn Winter and Glee Everett, she was a member of the Galilean Presbyterian Church. A homemaker, she was the Judge of Elections for 47 years for New Beaver Boro, and was a 60-year member of the Big Beaver Grange.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Dodds McAnlis, on Sept. 24, 1985; a daughter, Beverly Dene Kotuby, on Jan. 13, 1997; a sister, Glee Miller, and a brother, Charles Winter.
She is survived by five children, Richard S. McAnlis, Patricia A. McAnlis, Charles D. McAnlis and John B. "Jay" McAnlis, all of New Galilee, and Douglas S. McAnlis, Pittsburgh; a sister, Ruth Howell, Millington, Tenn., and 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Rita A. Pagani, 75, of New Galilee, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, in her home.
Born Feb. 17, 1926, in Ellwood City, a daughter of the late Albert and Georgia Bonaldi Verdecchia, she was a homemaker and a member of St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, spending time with her three grandchildren, her nieces and nephews, and her great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Verdecchia, and a sister, Anna DeThomas.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Michael J. Pagani Sr.; a daughter, Kathy Pagani, Ledyard, Conn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. Jr. and Diane Pagani, South Beaver Township; three grandchildren, Charlotte Troyanowski, Boston, Mass.; Michael J. Ann Reft, 81, of Aliquippa, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, in the Golfview Manor Nursing Home, Aliquippa.
Born Nov. 27, 1919, in Aliquippa, a daughter of the late John and Anna Knyshyk, she was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Aliquippa, and the U.N.A. Lodge 120. She was formerly employed at the P.M. Store in Aliquippa.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Reft, in 1979, and a sister, Mary Lechman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Shrader, on June 4, 1992; five sisters, Virginia Smith, Evelyn Balderson, Alverta Gaudio, and Hazel and Mary Graham, and two brothers, Howard and James Graham.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William Edward and Bilaine (Fedoryk) Shrader, Baden; three grandchildren, Brooke Fortune and her husband, Dale, Baden, and William J. Shrader and Diane E. Shrader, both at home; a great-grandson, Dale Fortune Jr.; a sister, Dorothy Williams, Darlington, and several nieces and nephews.

Sodergren, Robert C.
Robert C. Sodergren, 67, of South Beaver Township, died Friday evening, June 15, 2001, in the Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, South Beaver Township.
Born Jan. 21, 1934, in New Brighton, a son of the late Carl and Gertrude Dyke Sodergren, he had been a resident of South Beaver Township since 1963. In 1985, he retired from the Teledyne-Vasco, Monaca, after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of the Monaca-Center Lodge No. 791 F&AM, Monaca; the New Castle Consistory and the Midland Sportsmen's Club. He was a former member of the Beaver Falls Sportsmen's Club and the shot trap for the St. George Trap Team in the Beaver County Conservation League.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty A. Sodergren, on Oct. 21, 1999.
Surviving are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert P. and Robin Sodergren, East Palestine, Ohio; David A. Sodergren and his fianc e, Bonnie Shoenberger, South Beaver Township; Carl W. Milos Bekic, 86, formerly of Aliquippa, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2001, in Millcreek Manor, Erie, Pa.
Born March 2, 1915, in Kinjacka, Yugoslavia, he was a son of the late Pavle and Draga Pavlovic Bekic. He was a member of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church, Aliquippa, SNF Zora Lodge 100, Aliquippa, and Local 1211 United Steelworkers Union. . He was a retired employee of the J&L Steel Corporation, Aliquippa Works. He had worked as a riverboat pilot.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Slavka Bekic, and three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by a son, George, Erie, and and his fiancee, Mindy; a daughter, Joyce Wells and her husband, Tom, Spring, Texas, and grandchildren, Dr. George P. Bekic, Pittsburgh, and Ronald Bekic, Dama, Fla. and nieces and nephews in Yugoslavia.

Brown, Leonard L. 'Red'
Leonard L. "Red" Brown, 72, of Monaca and South Pasadena, Fla., died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, June 13, 2001, in The Medical Center, Beaver, where he was admitted earlier in the day.
Born Dec. 23, 1928, in Aliquippa, a son of the late Fred and Ethel (Gibbens) Brown, he was a resident of Monaca the majority of his life. Mr. Brown had retired as a water tender from the LTV Steel Corp. Aliquippa Works following 30 years of employment.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Anna M. (Canning) Brown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. and Pamela Brown, Baden, and Leonard J. and Judith Brown, Monaca; four grandchildren, Deanna, Christopher, Melissa and Amy Brown; a sister, Mrs. Donald (Beatrice) Parsons, Vanport; two brothers-in-law, Edward Canning and his wife, Fran, Chippewa, and Larry Graham, Fombell; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Dennis (Patty) Minder, San Juan, Calif., and Dee Hecton, Los Angeles, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and Robert Brown.
Mr. Brown had requested no public viewing or services.

Burgess, Robin Renee
Robin Renee Burgess, 37, of Rochester, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born Jan. 24, 1964, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Mildred Burgess, Pittsburgh, she was a graduate of Rochester High School. Robin held various jobs and most recently was employed at the Sheetz Convenience Store, Rochester.
In addition to her mother, she leaves to mourn her passing, a son, Christian D. Burgess, Fort Bragg, N.C.; a daughter, Javonna Loi Burgess, Aliquippa; a brother, Jack Burgess, Pittsburgh; a sister, Charmayne L. Smith and her daughter, Jecoliah Smith; her foster mother, Louise M. Sanders, and a foster brother, Eugene Smith and his wife, Emily, all of Beaver Falls, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Sheldon Burgess.

Campana, Edith Tripodi
Edith Tripodi Campana, 84, a life long resident of Beaver Falls, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2001, while under the compassionate care of Westminster Village Nursing Home, Dover, Del.
Born April 4, 1917, in Beaver Falls, a daughter of the late Louis and Sarah Angrissani Tripodi, Edith retired after 20 years of employment with the Big Beaver Falls School District, where she was the cafeteria supervisor of South Elementary School. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, and a member of the Ladies Catholic Benevolent Association.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her loving husband, Matthew E. Campana, on Oct. 31, 1997; a son, Richard Campana, on Oct. 1, 2000; a brother, Anthony Tripodi, and three sisters, Mary Gioffre, Adaline Gerace, and Josephine August.
Edith is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, David and Lesley Campana, Dover, Del.; a granddaughter, Lisa Marie Campana, Wilmington, Del.; a brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Delores Tripodi, Patterson Heights; a sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Steve Shimrak, Conway, and a daughter-in-law, Debbie Campana, New Castle.

Donna Morrison Hartswick Carter, 54, of Aurora, Colo., died Thursday, June 7, 2001, in Aurora, Colo.
Born Jan. 19, 1947, she was a daughter of Dolores Mitts Morrison, Ambridge, and the late Merl F. Morrison.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Larry Carter, Aurora, Colo.; two daughters, Greer Hartswick, and Farrah Hartswick, both of Aurora, Colo.; a stepson, Michael Carter, in Colorado; a stepdaughter, Rhonda, and her husband Dave Argabright, in Colorado; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Charles "Bob" and Norine Morrison, Economy; Alan and Stacey Morrison, Crescent Township, and Kevin Morrison, Ambridge; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Pamela and James Tuntas, and Barbara Karnoski, all of Harmony Township; a sister-in-law, Barb Wilkison, Denver, Colo.; nieces and nephews, Johnny and Krystal Karnoski, Harmony Township; Maggie Morrison, Economy; Skyler and Tanir Morrison, Crescent Township, and Christian Morrison, Ambridge, and five step-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held today at 3 p.m. in St. John Lutheran Church, Ambridge, with the Rev. Cletus Fahrion officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 2465 S. Downing St., Denver, Colo. 80210.

Coburn, William Arthur 'Bill'
William Arthur "Bill" Coburn, 64, of Old Town, Fla., formerly of New Brighton, passed away Monday, June 11, 2001.
Born July 8, 1936, in New Brighton, a son of the late Charles Edward and Norma Reda Coburn, he served in the U.S. Air Force for ten years. He was a member of the New Galilee VFW.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Coburn, and his paternal and maternal grandparents, James and Nina Coburn and Michael and Edith Reda.
He is survived by his children, Charles Edward Coburn, in Germany; William Arthur Coburn Jr. and his friend, Lennie Kennedy, Harmony, Pa., and Desiree Hudson, in Indiana; seven grandchildren; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Wilma Coburn, Richard and Joanne Coburn, and Clifford and Peggy Coburn, all of New Brighton, and Donald and Bonnie Coburn, Negley, Ohio; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Norma Jean and Ivan Sargent, and Betty Lou and Robert Nicholson, all of New Brighton, and Dorothy Coburn, Rochester, and a very special friend, Donna Kossmann, Old Town, Fla.

Helen McNeill, 79, of Beaver Falls, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, in the Providence Health Center, Beaver Falls.
There was no public visitation.

Karen L. McNaughton, 52, of College Hill, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, in The Medical Center, Beaver.
Rankin, William A.
William A. Rankin, 39, of Independence Township, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in his home.
Born June 10, 1962, in New Brighton, a son of Doris Eaton Rankin Weaver, Chippewa Township, and the late Richard Marquis Rankin, he had been employed as a Union carpenter.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Laura Jean Rankin, Freedom, and Kasie Ann Rankin, Potter Township; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard M. and Barbara Rankin, Boynton Beach, Fla., and John R. Rankin, New Brighton, and a sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Randy Elliott, Chippewa Township.
There was no public visitation. Private funeral services were held Friday in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, 3801 4th Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, with the Rev. Hengust Robinson officiating.
Private interment followed in the Grandview Cemetery, Big Beaver Boro.
Regney, John T.
John T. Regney, 78, of Beaver, died Thursday evening, June 14, 2001, in The Medical Center, Beaver, following an extended illness.
Born Nov. 27, 1922, in Ambridge, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mary Hetzel Regney. After graduating from Carnegie Tech, he became an architect in 1962 with Arthur L. Martsolf, Architect, of New Brighton. He also was employed with Michael Baker Corp., Brighton Township, and Westinghouse Electric Corp., Vanport, and he had worked for L. Robert Kimball Architect and Engineers before becoming self employed in 1967 until the present. Jack was well known for his pen and ink sketches and his love of photography. A member of SS. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver, and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was also a past member of the Beaver Rotary Club, a past board member of the Beaver Area Memorial Library, and a past director of Freedom Federal Savings & Loan.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Priscilla Lawler Regney; two daughters and sons-in-law, Erin and Rick Young, Ellwood City, and Janet and Jon Logan, Brighton Township, and a grandson, Ethan Lawler Young.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME, 333 Third St., Beaver. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in SS. Peter & Paul Church by his pastor, Monsignor William M. Ogrodowski.
Memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to the Angel Fund of SS. Peter & Paul Church, East End Ave., Beaver, Pa. 15009 or to the Beaver Area Memorial Library, College Ave., Beaver, Pa. 15009.
A rosary will be recited today at 2:15 p.m. in the funeral home.
Tarbuk, George Thomas
George Thomas Tarbuk, 47, of Ohioville, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point, N.J.
Born Jan. 12, 1954, in Rochester, a son of George and Donna Damm Tarbuk, Midland, he was a graduate of Western Beaver High School and had been employed as a painter.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter and grandson, Tiffany and J-Von Tarbuk, St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, Tim Tarbuk, Imperial, Pa., and three sisters, Chris Hardcastle, Odessa, Texas, and Kathy Gilmore and Susan Tarbuk, both of Arlington, Texas.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the D.L. WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 848 Midland Ave., Midland.
Private interment services will be conducted Monday at the Hopewell Hebron Cemetery, Imperial, with Robert J. Buffington officiating.
